6:28 That is such a magical shot, old versus new, style vs style
11:30 That swimming shot looks to be upstate New York...
From Lionel The Movie Part 2 & I Love Toy Trains Part 3.
My aunt used to take me to watch the steam engines leaving Long Branch heading southbound to Asbury Park N.J. People don't watch trains anymore. It was a treat.
1948 is the same year my son was born. I was working for AT&SF as a Locomotive Engineer and Brakeman. I remember when railroading was like this, enjoyed the memories :-)
9:50 Horseshoe curve in Pennsylvania. The little building is still there!
The only way to travel and all of that should still be around today.
...if you were a kid in America in the 40's and 50's the sound of steam locomotives put you to sleep, it was soothing and reassuring. When I was in nam I had a hard time sleeping ( for many reasons) but mostly I missed the trains....I still do.
I love this train video it had a little bit of everything I wasn't even born then nice to see what happened before I was born thank you 👍🇺🇸
What a great nation back then
I LOVE this video! Seriously, the big mighty handsome beautiful trains racing? I can't stop thinking about this!
When look at this awesome film I become depressed.
Look at our nation back then, what in God’s name happened to us???
The B&O railroad, today it’s not even a memory it remains a memory in only a few of us that cling to a great past.
We are a nation in decline.
Sun brown boys 11:30....very nice...wish i was there.
I remember the old Atlantic coast line railroad
Those were the days!
I'm proud of these old steam locomotives! 100% American made and even used American fule unlike today.
so 5 people really hate a piece of history like this???? sad.....
Useful historical footage of Penn Central early on. Shark footage - actually 3 sharks and a PA? Unsusual Publicity shots.
11:11: Not sure that saying "the slender bridge of steel sways under the strain" is a wise PR move
@Cockroach2008 Obviously an American.
WOW, what the hell happened to out nation?
Liberals
@@tommytruth7595 No you idiot, it's those communist democrat liberals.
@@WesternOhioInterurbanHistory That is true, but redundant.
@@tommytruth7595 yeah it was a joke
Taking money from the rairloads and giving them for freeways and airport bulding.
In the place where I live, thefery, corruption and incompetence destroyed an once nice railway system.
CH&D drumhead @1:26. Must have been a private car.
I was like, wait, the B&O bought them...
most of the people in this video are probably dead...
theo sincu As of 2017 that is now probably true, most people don’t make that assumption right away.
@9:30, damn, he's moving! Got to be 100 mph easy.
There is an unidentified kid waving at the train... CALL HOMELAMD SECURITY!!! Raise the terror alert,
Penn Central? That wouldn't happen for another 20 years.
Man!! -- Is that TCR counter annoying!!
Steam is great. But the diesel is cheaper to operate
Such a Great White time in America...The real good old days.
Hey bro, the song "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" :-)
YES. G-d help the young people in the USA
N
Certainly better than having the USA headed toward being just another third world country in this world, like it is today.
yeah the good old days. when america had lots of trains that were really reliable
@LMatters1 It was 1948 dipshit. Your people will still riding donkeys and plowing with oxen
Who writes this drivel? God, it is awful!
