rainbow is such a special song :( mark finally came back and they had their first full album this year. i remember how it was when mark graduated and fans didn't know what dream's future was because if 00 line graduated then only chenji would be left. having 7dream again was honestly the best thing that ever happened,, they belong together like the seven colors of the rainbow :( they shine the brightest when they're together ♡

I cried my soul out with Rainbow, specially because they were all involved in the writing process, and the 4 rappers were indeed credited. The live performances of Irreplaceable, My Youth, Be There For You and RAINBOW 🌈 still stand alone! 💚 so glad you enjoyed it all, this album is literally so special! The boys outdid themselves a million times over ✨
LEE HAECHAN, i wont get tired of saying how talented he is, how he is one of the aces in NCT and how he is born to be an idol. Besides his unique and powerful voice, he is so hardworking, being able to comeback multiple times a year with mark, and serving us his 100 percent every single time. Never forget he is so smart and witty, he is a comedian and a phenomenal dancer. love him soo much 😍
rainbow is literally about nct dream... their worries and everything they've been through because of the graduation concept. they keep on saying "7" since they're finally complete now, with no one leaving anymore. (fun fact: they call themselves chil-dream, which is basically 7dream, and even the media acknowledges them like this!) it's also rainbow because the rainbow has 7 colors together and they're 7. in one of their youtube contents during the brainstorming of hot sauce album, dream talked about this a lot. (hot sauce jewel case cd is also a rainbow! each member has its own representative color!)
btw, rainbow is chenle's top 1 song! like he literally promotes and talks about rainbow in every opportunity he gets... from his radio show before to his bubble messages and interviews 😭

Rainbow has a dear dream reference btw (in Jisung’s rap, the ‘looking like a blur’ part is a line in Mark’s rap) it’s from their we go up album and it was kind of a ‘goodbye’ song for Mark, so that hit hard

@@_pttypetty1202 super late comment but bookmark/page are also themes from my page (from the we young mini album); i've always associated those concepts with renjun the most because my page is totally renjun's song but yeah i really love that these story, pages, bookmarks, beginnings, memories, etc type themes are so common in dream's lyrics because they're so personal and representative of their overall journey.

rainbow is nct dream's answer to their goodbye song for mark, "dear dream", from their we go up album (2018). in "dear dream", mark talked about how it's not the end for them, that he'll bookmark his journey with dream. you'll notice how they kept mentioning "bookmark" in rainbow.
fun fact: rainbow's korean title is translated as "bookmark". also, the rappers wrote their own lyrics, their own interpretation of "dream" and "rainbow".
this album really deserved so many awards this year. putting out something like a piece of their bond and struggles as 7dream to the world whilst incorporating their talents with the songs really should've resonated to everyone's hearts and ears.

Rainbow is RJ's favorite song in this album and you really can hear him singing his heart all out. Being such a sentimental person that he is you can really tell that whenever he sings.
The lyrics that jisung wrote & sang "lookin like a blur" it was from mark's graduation song Dear DREAM🙂🙂

i feel like this album is the first time chenle finally got all the opportunity to shine on dream. like all the adlibs and highnote is so unexpected (yes even though we can hear him on 2020 album but in this unit there is renjun and haechan) and i'm sooo happy. there was a lot of people think the one that stand out on this album is chenle and i'm so beyond proud of him 🥺

It's really hard to pick a favourite bside from this album, but I have to go with Countdown 321. It's insane how much satisfying melodies, adlibs, and dynamic they can put in a song. GENIUS
Honestly, Renjun and Chenle vocal shine so much in this album. People always know about Haechan's vocals and ability but yet about Renjun and Chenle. This album kinda prove that both are worthy of their main vocals position alongside Haechan
27:35 i feel like i can confidentially say that 95% of sm songs (most likely title tracks), they always have everybody singing together in the choruses. Even if some voices are brought more forward in the mixing or theres adlibs, everyone still gets to sing even if they dont much solo lines. Im not 100% sure but i feel like almost no other companies do that other than sm.

You really must check out the live version of Be There For You. They sound absolutely stunning and Chenle is on the piano.
The Dreamies really do tease the heck out of each other but whenever you hear them sing together or watch them perform (especially on a song like Rainbow) they are so obviously full of love for one another (any many beautiful, accomplished writers in the group). It radiates out of them and their chemistry is part of what makes listening to them so special (to me).
listening to rainbow just gives me so much comfort, especially now that i’m not really at my best. it’s so heartwarming i cry every time.
And i cried so much while listening to rainbow again remembering what they've been through and how we nctzens felt when he left and when all 7 came back together....

Taeil is freaking taeil no one can sound like him. Tbh all vocalists of NCT stand out in their unique way they don't need to be another taeil, they are all stand alone vocalists not a copy of anyone else.

Dear Dream and Rainbow those special songs in the albums that make you emotional because what it meant to say goodbye and welcome back Mark. As Renjun said they come together like seven unique colors of the rainbow.
This whole album listen was just me questioning Caitlin if Renjun is really her bias. The chokehold Haechan has on her is unmatched, not complaining tough I just laugh every time he comes in and she gets so offended.
They did the live performance for almost all of the song in this album. You can check it when you have time:)))

rainbow is my favourite song from this album and one of (if not the most) my favourite songs from nct dream!!! it's just so touching, special, emotional and you know right away what it means just by reading the lyrics. i cry every single time i listen to her, it just hits so hard on my heart!!! it brings back all my memories with nct and memories of the turbulent sad time when mark graduated, all the pain i felt at that time, everybody else felt too!!! idk it's just an extraordinary song that sincerely and genuinely makes me emotional sad and happy at the same time, it's such a mixture of feelings! 💚

Loved your reaction to this album!!! I agree with you, I also think all 7 had great opportunities to show off their talents and charms, but although I'm Jisung utted in NCT, Chenle was the star of this album to me. I've always thought he sounded like an angel, but on this album he had a lot more room to showcase his talent and it reeeeally gave me a new apreciation for his voice and his potential as a main vocalist.
DREAM's dicography has the recurring theme of youth, but this one specifically was themed around DREAM's journey so far and their hopes for the future, that's why the lyrics all gravitate around reminiscing about the good memories in the past and the ambition to reach an even bigger stage and their quest towards a brighter future.
This is their first full album after 6 long years of waiting, and with their initial graduation concept things were really emotianally draining sometimes before the company abolished the graduation in early 2020, both for them and for us, so having their first full album as 7 was not only special because of Mark's return, but also because the group itself as we know it was almost dissolved entirely. Watching Jisung breaking down crying uncontrolably during their concerts in 2019 because he wasn't sure if he would ever have the oportunity to stand on stage again with DREAM was really, truly heartbreaking.
That's why songs like Rocket where they call themselves Dream Rocket going to turn the universe into their stage hits diferently. Also, Rainbow is a really special song, lines like "dreams we dreamed together became someone elses dream", the analogies to 7 colors of the rainbow etc were all inspired by things the members themselves have said before when they talked about the group and the other members, like how they are all really different as people and artists, but when they come together as DREAM they complement each other and creat a beautiful rainbow. Also, Rainbow has references of Dear Dream, Mark's farewell song from We Go Up album.
Hopefully you will get to check out their earlier stuff too, even if you don't share it. DREAM discography is really bright and they have real jewels hidden in their tracklists

As far as I know Rainbow was the last song they recorded on the album. I think before the recording, the staff or producers (i don't know who) made them write what they think when they think of their group. Using what each of them wrote, the lyrics were made based on the things they wrote about their team. In addition, Mark, Jeno, Jaemin and Jisung wrote their own rap parts.
Thats why this song hits straight to the heart harder than most of their songs in this album bec its literally made by them and for them.

Rainbow is my comfort song 🥺 having gone through Mark graduating and not knowing what the future for Dream would be when they announced that 7Dream was going to be back I almost cried happy tears 😭 Also Mark, Jisung, Jeno and Jaemin wrote lyrics for the song which makes it even more special. Jisung even included a reference to Dear DREAM a song from the last album Mark was in before graduation, a song that they also wrote lyrics for. If Dear DREAM was their goodbye song to Mark, Rainbow is a welcome back song 🥺😭

I remember when this album (Hot Sauce) came out in the beginning of May. It was a few days after my birthday and I was just getting used to living in a new city on my own. I took a walk around the city and listened to the entire thing in one go. It was such a nice experience. It was the first time I actually I felt at home here. NCT Dream can truly capture that feeling of home. I got into NCT not long ago, but watching this video and listening to the album again made me feel nostalgic. I'm honestly so grateful for finding them.
