What would our debate on taxes snd debt look like from a first principle perspective. The first principles of our constitutional government is to protect human life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for all living in the United States of America. Elon is well known for his advocacy of first principle thinking and problem solving from this starting point. 21:1621:16
You say that Tesla doesn't benefit from the tax credit, but they do -- because they can justify keeping their prices higher as a result of the tax credit. For car companies struggling to build EVs profitably this helps them stay afloat. But at some point it needs to go away so that companies and consumers can start standing on their own two feet.
But ur video itself explains why drill baby drill wont work as you are selling the oil drilled here outside to other countries who can refine US oil , so no energy independence for US market right , but yes USA will get money and influence out of it (contries to whom USA is selling to)
National Debt: The problem is not spending beyond our means but refusing to collect revenue sufficient to fund our spending. The states do not run a deficit, so we "have the technology". They are not one bit shy about collecting the taxes they need to do their mandated job. Congresspeople are terrified of voting for taxes.
I think that cutting Space X funding would be more beneficial to controlling the spending budget. Every failed launch costs the US tax payers $100,000,000 and there have been so many failures. All countries need to spend on defence, as there will always going to be a need for defence.
"spending beyond our means" The government makes the money. There is no such thing as "spending beyond our means". The risk is only increased inflation. If the government balanced the budget today, the economy would go into immediate recession. One person's spending is another person's paycheck.
Ricky, congratulations on launching the online electrician course! My opinions on Elon’s power grab, Part 1: I’m late to this discussion, but I do give Elon credit for his contributions to advancing technology. However, Elon is undeniably a mastermind at capitalizing on human emotions to drive support for his ventures and ultimately generate wealth. For instance, his early success with Zip2, essentially an internet-based phonebook and directory, showcased his ability to identify market gaps and sell the idea of digital convenience. This knack for storytelling and creating a vision carried over to his co-founding of PayPal, where he capitalized on the emerging need for secure and seamless online transactions, laying the groundwork for a digital economy.
Elon rocks! His self proclaimed goal is to make the world energy self sufficient. He also wants to create a place for mankind to colonize when our planet is no longer habitable. Admirable goals in my opinion.
@@gesilsampaioamarantesegund6692 What people say is irrelevant, what they do is relevant. He's backing someone who is anti-EV, anti-climate change, and anti-green technologies, so yes Musk is showing his true colours.
Spend less? How about we increase revenue. There’s more than one way to fix a problem like this but the wealthy technocrats want you to focus on cutting benefits than contributing their fair share.
The math doesn't work. Even if you could pull every dollar from every billionaire, including taking all the companies it wouldn't run the government long. We have a spending problem. If you think the taxing unrealized gains is a good idea, you need to understand economics/finance better before letting your voice be heard. That was something that made Harris unelectable.
Tax everyone till they have nothing is the liberal way! As said above if you taxed every billionaire you still wouldn’t have enough. I do enjoy when the left acts like they give 2 shits about spending like Trump was doing the wall. You don’t have an issue with Biden selling the border wall for pennies on the dollar which will have to be replaced. You also don’t mind the billions going to other countries or illegals which could help idk Americans. We are not the world’s police or their checkbook.
I think Elon felt worried how the USA is going and decided he could make a difference. Some people won’t like it. You can’t please everyone. Yet I believe Elon has good intentions for the USA. He can move to another country if he wants but he’s rooting for the USA and it’s founding principles.
Elon Musk's grandfather was a Canadian-American Nazi supporter during the time of the NSDAP, who fully supported apartheid, then moved to South Africa to rob it of some of it's riches as soon as the opportunity arose, and Trump's dad was a very wealthy and respected member of the German American Bund, during Hitler's reign in Germany. He frequently spent time at Camp Siegfried, and elsewhere. Don and Elon, are the products of the Third Reich. Apples never fall far from the tree...... Part 2: Fast forward to Tesla: the promise of stopping pollution and revolutionizing the automotive industry through electric cars captivated millions, helping him sell not just cars but a vision of a cleaner future. Then, with SpaceX, the narrative shifted to exploring new frontiers for humanity-making Mars a backup planet. While the reality of colonizing Mars remains far away, the idea keeps people emotionally invested in Elon’s broader causes, from Tesla to Starlink. That said, I’m slightly optimistic about Elon’s move to assist the federal government. His influence and resources could bring significant advancements in technology and infrastructure if leveraged properly. While it’s clear he has a knack for turning public goodwill into personal capital, there’s potential for real progress if these efforts align with broader societal goals.

Nobody in the world is buying US treasury bond. Most big economies have started to trade in their local currencies. Usually the USA's QE outcome would not bring much inflation, but now it is not. So QE cannot be done like before and Interest rates are high. So basically US is heading towards bankruptcy, if they do not decrease their spending. They have to close around 700 military base around the world, cut down on social security, health care, etc.

I think people care about politics when it really starts to affect them in their lives. You can only ignore politics if it doesn’t matter, but the reality is many times it does and you start to pay attention. A big issue for me is the extreme gender ideology being tried to be normalized in the past few years and being promoted with propaganda in many spheres of society. Elon Musk for example had a son who turned into trans woman and this has devastated him, making all the leftist gender woke ideology stuff make him take a strong stance against it. And when politicians want to push all that woke stuff on us who don’t want it, yeah politics matters if it can sway society to lean in one direction or another. A little more tax or less is not a big deal, but things have been getting really extreme lately and also with corruption in government.
@@Yayo-PR Trans effects less than 1%n of the population. It is just being amplified by the right to get people to vote for policies that don't benefit them

The IRS code should be simplified to a simple Federal sales tax. Those that spend the most should pay the most. Every dime spent or traded by individuals or businesses should be charged a 2% sales tax. Scrap the income tax. Rich people and large corporations find a way to not pay taxes. All individuals should be given a federal sales tax rebate on the first $10,000 they spend. After that, everyone pays the same 2% Federal sales tax. All stock trades, all wages paid, all inventory bought, all expenses to run a business or home, all expenses to live, would be taxed the same. The more you spend, the more you pay. Keep it simple. Trillions are spent every day worldwide. 2% of that should be enough to run a country.
I agree. 10% off the top. Income, revenue, dividends, inheritances, ANY form of income. Easy, simple, safe, and to be sure it doesn't harm low-income earners, we exempt the first $50K, BUT we have no other forms of deduction, allowance, hide-behind, etc....
Complete BS. The wealthy pay close to 50% of all taxes. In fact, all people who make $100k and above pay about 89% of federal taxes. Replace income tax with tariffs + reduced federal government + reduced spending + reduced fraud and waste. Its quite easy. The only thing stopping it are a bunch of politicians who hate us.
Modern Monetary Theory. Learn it, apply it. The debt is not the monster it's made out to be. For decades now, people have been warning that a debt caused collapse of the economy is imminent, and yet here we are.
Everything he has tried or actually has done for not just our nation, but the world he was told couldn’t be done. I remember all the critical when he tried to create Tesla. I’ve said it before, but I truly do believe must has a potential to be our Einstein and I realize it’s not just him. It’s all of the other smart people he surround himself with and all of these companies, but that wasn’t done before maybe in the past but not recently and I think that’s why all of his companies are so successful it’s not a popularity contest. It’s just about bringing the best people to help with the job or task at hand. I say keep up the good work.
I think Trump, Kennedy, Elon and DOGE are good for America. I appreciate that Vivek posted about the wasteful spending in the continuing resolution in bullet format. Vivek made it so I could understand 1,500 page bill in a few minutes -- magic! I appreciate that Elon shared Vivek's tweet and shared his opinion of it. From there people who agreed called their representative and voiced their opinion. It was great to see the cr stopped because citizens called their representative. I believe sunshine is the best solution. Our Constitutional Republic needs as much transparency as possible. I realize the representatives are upset, but look at what they are upset about -- their 40% raise, the right to opt out of ObamaCare, the right to not share emails when investigated. I hope they can be forced to reveal the author of the bill and that they must only vote on one issue at a time so we the people know who is voting for what.
Do representatives deserve a raise? No, but I do believe that a raise is necessary in order to best represent the voice of the people. These representatives need to be able to afford two homes- One in their hometown where they should be campaigning and speaking with constituents during recess, and another in DC (one of the highest cost of living in the US) This has become practically impossible with a $174,000 salary. Yes that’s a lot, but I think it’s a reasonable me ask given the requirements of the job. If this need isn’t met it will only push more rich, old, and out-of-touch people into positions of power. A place in congress must remain accessible to the working class.

Sure the debt is mostly to investors, BUT, we still have to pay the *interest* on the debt. THAT's the problem. Paying the interest on the debt is a HUGE part of our budget. It'll soon be, if it isn't already, the biggest cost we pay. Bigger than military spending. Bigger than Social Security and Medicare. Money that could go for something better than paying interest. You want all these social programs, well, we can't afford them anymore because we're using such a huge amount of money *just to pay interest.* And Congress, instead of doing something about it, just keeps spending money like they've discovered an infinite money glitch. It's insanity! The bill *WILL* come due!
as long as interest rates are lower than gdp growth debt has no negatives. As far as taxes go, Elon will pay $11 Billion this year. According to stats, the average tax bill in the US is around $20,000. Therefore, it takes 550,000 people with a median income to equal what Elon pays. I think he pays his fair share. There are around 1,000 billionaires in the US worth about $5 Trillion combined. It takes 1.8 million people to pay the same amount in taxes. Elon isn’t included in the second calculation. So, 1,001 billionaires pay as much as 2.3 million people. According to the federal government, the top 1% of US taxpayers pay 40% of the taxes. With 161 million taxpayers the 1.6 million pay 40%, then 159 million people pay the rest. Taxing the rich more just would achieve anything.

@ I agree he doesn't care about tax credits-- he knows Tesla will do just fine without them, while his competitors will really struggle without them.
This knack for storytelling and creating a vision carried over to his co-founding of PayPal, where he capitalized on the emerging need for secure and seamless online transactions, laying the groundwork for a digital economy.
thank you Akeem!
Good podcast, Ricky. Really like your objectivity and openness to discussion without divisiveness and toxicity. Cheers from Canada.
Elon rocks! His self proclaimed goal is to make the world energy self sufficient. He also wants to create a place for mankind to colonize when our planet is no longer habitable. Admirable goals in my opinion.

Naw. I want to keep more of my money. The real question is, why don't you?

2 years ago, Elon paid the most money in tax EVER - BY ANYONE - EVER.
I think a flat tax for both individual and corporations would make it easier, but at the same time you need to cut exemptions.
More research required here. Until then, I’m out. No to Elon fan boys.
Read the DEFINITION SECTION in the Tax Code 👍. Section 7701.
Chances Are, Your Not Required to FILE!
They were laughing at him on TV and even the stuff with SpaceX with the first launch, I think there’s way too much regulation Which is holding us back from actually innovating and it takes strong and smart people to really push us forward.

You have no idea about reality , these fools don't have any idea what they are doing.
@@vesawuoristo4162please illuminate us.
The 40% raise is literally not true and a quick Google will prove that. Once you've looked this up, I trust you will reconsider your news source.

The problem in the US is that the money is wasted. most countries use their debt to pay for healthcare or social security but in the US is hard to see where your taxes go and there's a lot of big politicians that want an even smaller government so they make whatever is possible to make the current system inefficient and useless
