I just love your relaxed response to your projects. It’s so helpful to me personally when you say that “we’ll just have to see where this takes us.” It reminds us that it’s ok when preconceived visions for a project can change as we go and that perfectly imperfect is beautiful too. 😊
That worked pretty well. I think I would trace those hearts ,cut them out of some pine the same thickness cram them in with some wood glue and fill around those top edges with stainable wood filler. Hopefully nobody would elbow the wood hearts out later on. Lol. I loved that paint you used and the color. Im going to have to try that. This is such a great idea. They made matching chairs , breadboxes paper towel holders… with those hearts. They put them in everything.
These turned out beautifully. I often see shelves and such with those pesky hearts. The pieces are always nice and sturdy. So now I know just what to do. Thank you.
During the mid eighties into the mid ninties I was a busy woman trying to get my career off the ground and having my babies. I loved the country look and read every issue of Country Living magazine. Those shelves and other pieces were to high priced for me back in the day. When they finslly went out of favor in the early 2000's I was happy to buy them up from yard sales and such. I just remodeled my kitchen this past winter and I'm proud to say that thise old heart shelves are my choice for the open shelving I put in that space. When company comes over they love seeing them put to use. I have all my antique kitchen gear hanging from the pegs and beautiful floral antique plates on the shelves. It's whimsical even if a bit eccentric. I'm never giving up those old shelves. To each their own!
Oh WOW! It made me look and think it was actually a knot!!!!! I have a quilt rack my Daddy made and it is good ol oak with hearts! NOW I can bring it current and have a piece of my Daddy close by ❤THANK YOU!!!!!
This is a helpful video. I own a quilt stand with the dreaded heart 😅😂 I would love a video on how you clean up your brushes and supplies with all the paints, sprays, etc, that you use.
I have seen other creaters full the hearts and put moulds over them. This worked really well. Yes, I have a couple smalls to do. This gives me more confidence to just fill them in. Thanks, btw I love the green.
Absolutely beautiful like everything you do! I have a couple of the older heart pieces that I'm planning to hide the heart . Similar to what you did but I'm planning to put a mould over where I cover it so it won't be visible. Fingers crossed that it'll work! Love watching your work. So much inspiration!
I’m so glad you made this video 🤦🏻♀️🤣 I have several pieces of furniture with heart cutouts and I know from experience that people don’t want that look anymore. But some of the cutouts are HUGE! I never thought about using wood scraps to fill in with as well ❤❤❤😂
I had the bench and gave it away years ago. I still have the table and I took the front and back parts off. I use it in my potting bench area. May have to upcycle it now that I've seen your magic work!
Whoa, perfect video just a little late for me. Lol I had 2 of these type of wood with the cutouts. I put cardboad behind the backside of the piece. I used the spackling spackle stuff to fill in the hole. First one I did It took forever to dry. 2nd one, I am only doing a bit at a time to let it dry. But next time If I do anymore I will definitely use your method next. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love it!!! I knew you were going to use the Bondo but that was a smart idea filling it in with pieces of Chris’s left over wood trash (😂) I’m getting to love “Oh Olive” milk paint. It’s such a pretty green after you put your dirt on. These benches look great n they’ve been hanging around for 50ty yrs or more. As always, great job Yvonne. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🐈⬛🐈⬛
Their hearts are full - I love it! And the green reminds me of Forest Service vehicles, which I've always loved (I don't know why, but they seem timeless). The bench and table are fantastic, Miss Yvonne, and I'm so glad that you have the gift to see potential. Have a beautiful day and God bless!
Your color choice brought back a great memory. I was a young child in the fifties. I had a bench my grandfather made me. It was for the yard. I wish I had a colored pic to show you. It was that green color and I distressed all by myself! Everything old is new again! Love watching your videos 🫶
I absolutely loved the music u played in the beginning of this video. It made me laugh and that is when I will continue watching your videos. Ty u did a wonderful job ❤
I have passed by heart cut out items that otherwise are super cute. And guess what? I’ve also bought some!! Thank you SO much for tackling this issue. I think I might try to spackle over the bondo to make the filled area a bit more hidden but overall the fill effect was awesome. Also that GREEN! so nice. And I think I need to move into your workshop.
They are beautiful. I have a table that have those cut out hearts that I want to paint but didn't know the best way to fill in those hearts. Thank you for doing this video.
That was super helpful! I don't flip or sale, but I do have a kid's size bench my father-in-law made a long time ago. We love his pieces and I sometimes use them for gifts for our younger family members at Christmas. (Everyone loves stuff made by Papa!) Hearts don't work for the young boys, so this is very helpful. Thank you!
Great cover up! I have 2 little chairs with the hearts, hate them but now I'm going to try getting them to disappear thanks to you! Great vintage color also.❤
My Dad made a small bench and he put a heart in each of the supports. I had been thinking how to get them gone so, now if I want to I can, well maybe that's iffy :) I love the green paint it looks well worn. You always do a great job on whatever you do Chickie. God Bless you and Mrs Chickie. Hugs.
I love both of those pieces! I also appreciate the tip on covering knots. I chalk-painted the sink cabinet in the guest bathroom and hoped the one knot would remain covered, but alas, no. Now I know how to treat it! Thanks, Yvonne!
Thank you for sharing this method. Yes I have several shelves & a small narrow cupboard that i need to remove hearts, hopefully mine will be as successful as yours!

Kinda makes me glad I never keep up with trends.
Love the way it all turned out.❤
I love that green
Oh WOW! It made me look and think it was actually a knot!!!!! I have a quilt rack my Daddy made and it is good ol oak with hearts! NOW I can bring it current and have a piece of my Daddy close by ❤THANK YOU!!!!!
Love both items. Learned something new, filling in hearts.
Looks so much better without the heart cutouts. Love the color!

Yes please

You make it look so easy!!! I thought you would put a sunflower over the heart. I wonder if a resin would work?
A lot of the times I question your color choice, until you use the aging wax. The change it makes amazes me every time.
A good lesson n how to fill in the hearts . It sure was a lot of work for you.
Thanks for showing us how to cover the hearts. I have a small shelf I need to work on now. 😊
WoW! What an improvement! Love the green! You’re a magician! ❤
Watching you create, update, design, teach, etc. is such a relaxing and educational experience . Thank you, you are delightful!
This is great! Now I can change my benches! Thanks!!! Love your work and ideas!!!
Turned out great I'm going to give the big heart that kind of treatment now ❤
Thank you so much for this information about the hearts and knots.
Fresh update. Nice color.
I’m so glad you made this video 🤦🏻♀️🤣 I have several pieces of furniture with heart cutouts and I know from experience that people don’t want that look anymore. But some of the cutouts are HUGE! I never thought about using wood scraps to fill in with as well ❤❤❤😂
You worked very hard on these pieces. I would love the pieces.
I had the bench and gave it away years ago. I still have the table and I took the front and back parts off. I use it in my potting bench area. May have to upcycle it now that I've seen your magic work!

You're a life saver, Yvonne! I have a few pieces that need a heart transplant. Now I know what to do. Thanks.
I’m so glad you did these pieces they turned out beautifully the green is a perfect color for a well loved piece that you just can’t part with!
Thank you for sharing your expertise. They are beautiful!!
I have passed up so many of those types of pieces because of the hearts. You are incredible!!! Thank you for sharing!
I love it!!! I knew you were going to use the Bondo but that was a smart idea filling it in with pieces of Chris’s left over wood trash (😂)
I’m getting to love “Oh Olive” milk paint. It’s such a pretty green after you put your dirt on. These benches look great n they’ve been hanging around for 50ty yrs or more. As always, great job Yvonne.

These turned out beautifully ❤. I actually love the hint of the hearts❤❤❤
Wow Yvonne!! What a labor of love!! Your patience is astounding!! Dry pretty pieces!! ❤❤
Maybe wood appliques glued on where the hearts were would hide the shadows of hearts. I did a dresser like that, turned out nice
Great projects! Thanks for this video 😊
You always put so much 'heart' and soul into all of your projects. I always enjoy your creativity, but really appreciate the quality of your work!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!💜💜💜
Glad to know this! I have a garage sale quilt stand with a heart on both sides that I was hoping to cover up. 😊
Love those benches looks great.❤️

Amazing , to get rid of that hearts was awesome, I have struggled with the hearts on wood pieces! You are inspiring lovely lady!!!
Your pieces turned out great. I really love the SPMP color, oh olive. It’s a great cottage color.

I have a bench like yours but only one heart and no knots thinking of something along the same thing you did thank you now I know I can do it
Look nice!!! You can paint everything green as far as I am concerned, LOL!

I think you did a great job, look's nice and love the color
Great cover up! I have 2 little chairs with the hearts, hate them but now I'm going to try getting them to disappear thanks to you! Great vintage color also.❤
Thanks for the info! I've been debating on options to fill my hearts. I'll have to try Bondo.
Filling in the hearts with wood is a great idea. I hope that you are feeling better.

Praying for a great recovery💕💕💕💕
Wow. The work and hours you put into these projects was phenomenal. They turned out great.
