Thanks for taking the time to do this. I replaced the two low-beam bulbs in my friend's 2015 Honda Civic. At first I was perplexed at how to get access, but seeing the techniques here helped me. I was a little too eager at first and forgot the orientation of the bulb as it should be inserted. Had to struggle a bit until I found it. NOTE--the original bulb has compressed flanges so it's easier to take out and reinstall. The new bulb will be a little tighter, so it takes more force. Definitely important to make sure you rotate enough until the socket points directly downward. The local HONDA dealer wanted $240 for the job, plus $29 per bulb of the most basic Sylvania type. Bought the X-treme Vision version, a pair for $32. Installation took me all of 40 minutes (was purposefully slow, being extra careful).
My bulbs keep going out over and over AND OVER again. Got tire of buying new bulbs and installing, so I decided to buy the cheapest bulbs. So far so good.
@@WelkingVue What brand were you using? I would avoid any of those Chinese no-name or funky-name brands. Philips is a great brand, as I've used them numerous times on several vehicles.
The ones that keep burning out are Sylvania. I decided to go for cheaper bulbs, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cheaper ones are the Basic Sylvania. Seems to last longer than the more expensive I haven't need to install any new bulb.
I just check I have extra unopen package of the cheap bulb. So the one that keep burning out are the more expensive Sylvania. The one that seems to last longer are the cheaper Basic Sylvania.
Very well explained! Feel super confident in changing the light bulb myself instead of taking it to a machine where they love to scam women. 🙂 hope you do more videos.
The most difficult part is twisting and turning loose the bulb and putting the new one on. If you have problem doing that, try different hand position and fingers position. Space is so little, so a change of position with your hand might help.
The running theme in all these videos for the Civic seem to be "remove 3 parts to replace 1". Even oil changes are a bit of a pain because of the lack of working space. Oh well, thanks for the video!
Great video! I watched a different one and for some reason the bulbs in the other civic had their wires swapped! The green cable housed his regular headlights and the white one was connected to his brights; I hastily concluded I had purchased the wrong bulbs so went and bought different ones before realizing I had swapped out my working brights for no reason.
Quick question! At 5:49 mark, I lost that little black piece that is used to screw in the windshield washer fluid thing. I used ducktape instead. Is that a bad idea and how do I get another one of those small black pieces and what are they called?
I cant even get the bulb out. How do you do that? Do you move it turn it and then take that white cinnector off? And where do i fo to get this replaced? Hopefully not a dealer. Im having too much trouble
I don't want to re-watch this video, so I'll just give you a general explanation. Usually when the bulbs are remove, they need to be turn counter-clock. Turning it counter-clock should break it loose. Next step, there's usually two or three tab or notch on the bulb. You need to align the tab to free it from it's location. Just look at it, use common sense, see what's preventing you from removing the bulb. Get back at me if you need help.
What kind of bulb for the headlights, not the drls, the ones for the last headlight setting on the lever by the steering wheel, the brighter ones. Can’t find this anywhere
I'm not sure which bulb you're talking about, but I think you might be referring to the high beam bulb. I haven't had the need to change any of the other headlight bulbs. Usually, I just take out the bulb and go get a match at the Auto Part store or at Wal-Mart.
@ my comment states that all the RUclips videos about changing the drivers side low beam, does not show how to get it out. It doesn’t move. You can’t unplug it by just removing that top from the empty black container
@@joannevenere3552 It's been a while since I changed the bulb, so don't really remember. I did forward and watched the part where I skipped removing the driver side bulb. I think you're supposed to break loose the socket, remove it from the housing, then disconnect the wire from the socket. Let me know if you need more help.
I'm going to try this over the next few days, the Honda dealership has told me it could cost up to €100 to change as they may have to take off the bumper, an absolute ripoff
comments are worth reading just for hilariousness. i did the impossible..installed passenger side brights. I have big hands I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.
Try unplugging the battery... u can see the videos on youtube of how to take the battery off.... you can also try turning turning inside and go through the wheel wells or fenders... and you are good to go
If you could fit your hand in you could probably finish the job you got to know how to position your hand. I had to do this over cause the cheap bulb I put in didn't last long. I think disconnecting the wire first might be a requirement, then remove the bulb second. You need to position your fingers in a specific way to easily disconnect the wires.
FYI....I used this technique effectively to change the right side bulb but I had to remove the engine mount brace behind the washer fluid neck also, because my arm was too large to fit in the hole.
@@WelkingVue you're very welcome sir. I only comment when a video is good and my criteria for that is, Good video quality. Good clear instructions and lastly doing things the right way. There's a lot of hackjobs on RUclips as I'm sure you're well aware of. Anyhow enjoy your day sir
They told me I'd have to pay 50 dollars to have the fender taken off but this video helped me do it in 2 minutes thank you
yeah they told me that they have to take the whole bumper off
I was also lied to!

When I bought the cheap one I didn't really pay attention to the name.

This was the best video out of the three I just watched! Thanks for being detailed

I'm not sure what it's call. It looks like a retainer clip, so probably call that. The auto part store usually has a variety of retainer clips.

Que tipo de bombilla utilizaste?
Thanks for the video. It will save me some time
Thank you for your video 👍
Good shi bro u just saved me a headache
I tried doing the driver side and it was a bit trickier to do. I didn’t bother changing it until I have to either.
I can't get my driver side headlight out like I could the passenger. Any tips?
No problem taking the bulb but having trouble puting the new bulb in the socket!
Gracias amigo Dios te pague🙌
Hola!
So how do you remove the washer fluid connection? That's the most important part.
It’s so simple just remove the plastic bolt holding it then pull it out
Yeah none of you show removing the drivers side because you can’t just turn it
The driver's side could be removed.

Bro,unless your still using halogens or florescent bulbs in your home. Upgrade those shyt to leds.

HOW the HECK can you fit your hand down there?? 3 friends and myself ALL tried and failed. No way can a regular sized hand fit...

Woop! Thank you!
Wrong! Always replace in pairs... if one has failed, the other is likely to go relatively soon also.
mine has a spring clip holding it in
