Portugal has some phenomenal bands like Mourning Lenore and Process of Guilt. This band Gaerea is new to me but has that progressive Portuguese sound. Love it.
Probably the best portuguese new band from the last 5 to 10 years. Awaiting for their new album.
Considering that being a portuguese band signed to Season of Mist I would recommend 3 other bands,
Ava Inferi
The first portuguese band on Season of Mist in 2006. The band was created by guitarrist Rune Eriksen aka Blasphemer known from bands like Mayhem, Vltimas or Aura Noir, he's married with a portuguese, Carla Simões, and together they made the band with her on vocals an two other portuguese musicians. I've already requested them before and plan to request again.
Sinistro
Another band with a woman on vocals and a voice like you probably never heard on a Metal band. Unfortunately she's no longer on the band but from what I know she is preparing a new project. Anyway I've requested Sinistro before and plan to request again in the future.
Earth Electric
After Ava Inferi disbanded the Rune/Carla duo made a new project and have released one album so far. Haven't requested Earth Electric before because I think you should listen to Ava Inferi first.

The music video is produced by the lead guitar player of the band! And he is also responsible for many videos of season of mist bands.
Ah, I love Gaerea. I've got their album 'Unsettling Whispers.' I was introduced to them through Baldman's channel a couple of years ago. btw Anyone who knows Baldman, please send him some love, he's come down with the virus. Excellent, heavy track, loved it. Yes Nostradamus was indeed French. Cheers guys. (Remember : Crystal Viper - When the Sun Goes Down.)

I was actually in a band a few years ago with a few of the guys from Gaerea. Super talented musicians, and great people, it's really awesome to see them get this big. Although i'm not the biggest fan of this style of black metal, im more of a fan of post black metal stuff in this sub genre, the production and songwriting is spot on, comparable to Behemoth in a way. Anyways, great review, saudações diretamente de portugal ;)
There masks has there Sigil symbol and this is my favorite black metal album of 2020 called
Limbo which I almost listen to everyday. This guys voice holy hell . This band is jawsometastic to the max yo! 🤘😎🤘🌷🖤❇
The thing that caught me the first time I heard Gaerea was the dynamics. Superb, just were most black metal bands fail.
The imagery is not quite the same but they remind me so much of Behemoth.

Great review, but you guys should of done the song To Ain by Gaerea. Favorite song that they have made thus far. Also, their music videos as a whole are spectacular and many of them feature Portugal. A different style from Behemoth but the quality is the same.

Their last album was really good. I am not the biggest black metal fan but it got alot of playtime from me. This seems to be shaping up to be really good too!
This masking is not new. Mgla, Acherontas, Batushka, Svartdaudi have all done it before these guys.
