You're an imbecile. Shooting ducks in flight... now that's hunting. It takes skill and patience and the art of concealment. This is just pathetic and so are you.
Good job! Don't listen to the foolish comments, it's just a small percent of the people (anti-hunters) that tirelessly search You-Tube to post negative comments and give a "thumbs down".
I’m not a hunter, but I can appreciate those that are, and especially those that practiced target shooting before the hunt to be sure it’s a killshot. THAT was a good shot.. The bear was out in seconds.. very minimal suffering
I was asking the person who I replied to. He is basically saying shooting a bear over bait isn't really hunting and takes no skill. I was asking him how he hunts them, since I doubt he knows much about it.
Arthur H, This is no Grizzly. Merely a large Black Bear in a cinnamon phase and not a blond as suggested. I have seen a blond Black Bear out East and I have seen a white Kemodi (Black Bear) on the West Coast. Grizzlies do come in blonde phases and far more commonly than with Black Bears,
This animal was killed ethically and legally. Bear hunting from an elevated stand allows the hunter to correctly identify each bear and to be close enough to take an ethical kill shot with the crossbow. Fair chase hunts for black bears is legal but it is much more difficult to identify each animal. It's hard to see the Cubs sometimes and a wet sow might get mistakingly shot. Which is illegal everywhere. So most commonly hunters who are doing things the ethical and legal way are killing bears this way. They bought a licence and now they tag it and register it at the dnr office. The meat is good if it's taken well care of and the hide will be preserved on this Cinnamon for sure.
Serious question. If the arrow is still intact, will you still use it again on another hunt? The bear did move quite a bit after being shot. I'd be slightly worried about the integrity of the arrow.
I'm not an expert, so forgive my ignorance. Why was the bear taken down so quickly? Was it because it was a straight shot to the heart or something? Or just an incredibly powerful shot?
Why do you think he didn't eat the meat? He never said that he wasn't going to eat it. You do realize that people eat bear meat...right?? I have a buddy who goes every year and he grills it up for us. Pretty good if you know what you're doing.
whats the draw weight on that crossbow?!! and the kinetic energy?! i have a crossbow with 175lbs of draw weight and the kinetic energy is about 85, can i kill a bear with that?! or should i stick to deer?
If it's such a no no, why the hell did you click on the video? Videoing hunting is no different than videoing fishing, racing, football, etc. It's a favorite passtime for many people and with it comes great memories. Why not video it to preserve the memory?
In "Meat Eater" Steve Rinella also writes that nearly all cases of trichinosis in humans in North America come from eating bear meat. He states you've got to simply assume that all bear are loaded with the parasites and cook it thoroughly.
So it turns out hunting bears over bait is the correct way to hunt them. In spot and stalk hunting its very possible to not see cubs following a sow because of the underbrush concealing them. In baiting you are able to observe a bear for a time to determine if it is a sow with cubs. Also, boars are the dominant sex at most bait sites. Boars kill, and eat, cubs. If you control the boar population more cubs are saved and you have a more stable population.
Hunters usually aim for the lungs/heart on big game animals as it is a fairly big target and is considered a quick humane kill. Head shots can result in a miss where the hunter could shoot the lower jaw off the animal and the animal could flee and die later on this is why hunters aim for the vitals.
Black bears will sometimes lighten up their hair color at the salon in the hills....lol... No, they go through color phases like people do. Some lighten up, then go dark. Others just stay black. You'll see more blonde in the spring when they shed their winter coats. We had one in the yard the other day that was way blonde, like a Grizzly. Thats all I can help...
I'm not a hunter, not have I ever tasted bear meat. I don't see that anyone actually answered the question that I can see. Do people who hunt bears eat the meat or not?
bear sausage is very sweet. depends on the bear though, you want ones feeding on berries, not fish. a friend cut a slice of sausage and let me try it, I didn't know what it was. it was quite good, and a sweetness to it. told me it was his black bear he had gotten.
Thomas...even though you are not a hunter, thank you for being respectful and asking a serious question. To answer, yes sir, bear meat is very good. You get a lot of meat from bear that can be made into steaks, roasts, sausage, hamburger, and jerky.
I agree that bears would be fine without us interfering but if hunting doesnt help reduce the number of "nuisance" bears. Then why is Ontario having such a problem, now that the spring bear hunt is closed?
@arul20 Also here in my state you have to turn in to the conservation department the bears entrails. Then they study them to learn more about the bears eating habits and overall health. Some of the information goes into deciding how many bears need to be taken in the next season. If the bear population grows to big their chances of survival is diminished. Therefore it's in the best interest of the overall bear population if there is a successful season of hunting..
***** tone it down a level you fuck. i bear bait all summer and i see the disappointment people have when they realize they're shooting maybe fifty yards max at an animal that is eating a bucket full of shit that i've been feeding it for the past 12 weeks so it's programmed to be in that spot. there is no challenge, it can hardly even be called hunting. and that game and movie analogy was garbage. sorry.
captain kitt im sorry, i just assumed that any human being with the slightest sliver of intelligence or common sense would notice that i mispelled point by just one fucking letter.
Luis Chavez don’t think there is a profession of professional hunter, unless you mean poacher. Poachers make bank, selling gallbladders, hides and valuable endangered species trophies to collectors and Chinese medicine consumers. Other “professional hunters” are outfitters. Guys who take you out hunting. You pay for a successful experience with them, and obviously they don’t pull the trigger but you do. But most outfitter guides are hunters themselves with knowledge on finding, calling, and tracking animals. Outfitter companies can make a lot of money, especially if offering trophy hunts to rich clients. But the guides themselves, it they aren’t owners, will make a fraction of that.
I'm not against hunting....especially if you're going to eat it...but I'm not that crazy about this method. Go find it...stalk it...make it fair.....make it worth something. Anyone can leave bait out, attract a bear and shoot it from the (relative) safety of a tree. I prefer real hunting. Just my opinion.
Our intelligence as human beings enables us to not have to stalk if we so choose to not stalk. Many a cavemen were killed using the stalking method. This is more than just my opinion,,, It is the TRUTH. Sure feels more here atop the food chain.
I agree 100% there should be a law you have to hunt on foot and go one on one with any animal. I think that is only fair you already have a gun or bow so you have the the upper hand from the start. The only hunters that should be in a stand should be someone disabled that cannot hunt on foot and needs to be in one. Also you should only be able to use scent spray or callers not just leave bait laying around anywhere so the animal will just walk up to you. Just like Sara this is just my opinion... If you feel the need to leave a nasty or rude comment please think before doing so, I have the freedom to speak my mind just like you. God Bless
Hi, funny, just before you shot I moved my mouse to him and said "here", this is where I would shoot him", and that's EXACTLY where the shot went, just absolute perfection in shot placement. Wasn't the black one earlier bigger though? I love bear hunting, taken 5 now, and yes, I eat every one, roasted bear meat is delicious. congrats, nice camera work too.
@saskadrenaline ah I see, thanks for the reply .. I'm not anti hunting .. I love weapons, in fact I found your video by looking at crossbow vids. I'm against animal or other cruelty though, so appreciate your clean kill =)
In hunting and game-cooking guru, Steve Rinella's (plenty of his stuff on RUclips,by the way) "Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter"--published just this year. He states that bear meat is a total crapshoot. It all depends on what the critter has been eating recently. Salmon-eating bear tastes fishy. Berry-eating bear tastes delectable and carrion-eating bear tastes tastes like death warmed over.
That's an awesome bear! I live in Manitoba and shot a huge black bear last fall with my bow and cant wait to get out this spring to hopefuly get my hands on a color phase bear! great video
Excellent Bear Hunt, I salute the Hunter on a superb hunt, correct take of the animal and outstanding videography. Good job. Keep up the good work.
You're an imbecile. Shooting ducks in flight... now that's hunting. It takes skill and patience and the art of concealment. This is just pathetic and so are you.

No suffering at all, in fact.
It was kind of sad to see it drop. What did you do with it?
Weak man is the feeling that grew stronger in this tool
Dang man that was a crazy good shot in my opinion
Doesn't get any better than this.....great shot.
I was asking the person who I replied to. He is basically saying shooting a bear over bait isn't really hunting and takes no skill. I was asking him how he hunts them, since I doubt he knows much about it.
Best shot I've ever seen. That bear knew he was dead immediately. He barely bothered to run away.
A lot of thumbs down on this one probably because it's so short. Me I still liked it, you could have shown the bear a little better but still good.
Amazing how similar these bears can look to grizzlies
Nice set up. Lung shot . clear as day. Great job man.
You can eat black bear. In fact, all healthy meat is edible, it's just a matter of taste preference.
Why you'd shoot the brown one and not the black one?
Also, what did you do with it?
Arthur H, This is no Grizzly. Merely a large Black Bear in a cinnamon phase and not a blond as suggested. I have seen a blond Black Bear out East and I have seen a white Kemodi (Black Bear) on the West Coast. Grizzlies do come in blonde phases and far more commonly than with Black Bears,
I love how you can actually hear their adrenaline! Nice bear.
How does black bear get fur like that?
You mean like the crossbow it says he uses in his description? Yes I think it may have been.
I'm not much of a bear hunting fan, whitetail and rabbit are more up my alley.
This animal was killed ethically and legally. Bear hunting from an elevated stand allows the hunter to correctly identify each bear and to be close enough to take an ethical kill shot with the crossbow. If the arrow is still intact, will you still use it again on another hunt?
The bear did move quite a bit after being shot. I'd be slightly worried about
the integrity of the arrow.
It's done. Those bears knock down small trees, imagion what their muscular bodies do to and arrow while in the vitals and it runs away.
I'm not an expert, so forgive my ignorance. Why was the bear taken down so quickly? Was it because it was a straight shot to the heart or something? Or just an incredibly powerful shot?
TheBaconFlipper
The arrow most likely took out both lungs. This would prevent the bear from running and having a quick death.
Why do you think he didn't eat the meat? He never said that he wasn't going to eat it. You do realize that people eat bear meat...right?? I have a buddy who goes every year and he grills it up for us. Pretty good if you know what you're doing.

This might be a stupid question but how do you tell a male from a female?
Where in northern sask is this? That is one monster bear. whoo hoo!
Imagine if you're on the ground. That arrow does nothing to keep the bear from coming at you? Am I correct?
nice bear...what did he score?
Is there a light on the bolts? I can't beleive how fast it layed down.
your not allowed to stalk usually
So it turns out hunting bears over bait is the correct way to hunt them. In spot and stalk hunting its very possible to not see cubs following a sow because of the underbrush concealing them. In baiting you are able to observe a bear for a time to determine if it is a sow with cubs. Also, boars are the dominant sex at most bait sites. Boars kill, and eat, cubs. Great shot. Didn't expect the bear to go down so quick.
What does the meat tasted is it like pork or like beef!!???
why the bear went down so quickly? I think it hit his shoulder not head so why he went down so fast? any idea? nice vid by the way.
Because he hAd a shot placement in the vitals hunters have to shoot behind the shoulder as the shoulder blade can potentially block a shot.
Hunters usually aim for the lungs/heart on big game animals as it is a fairly big target and is considered a quick humane kill. Head shots can result in a miss where the hunter could shoot the lower jaw off the animal and the animal could flee and die later on this is why hunters aim for the vitals.
What kind of crossbow do you use?
How do you prefer to hunt black bear?
Holy shit dude! That thing looked like a grizzly coming through the trees! Congrats on the monster bear though
why did the bolt look like it was glowing?
Great shot! Ignore the haters. :-) Just wondering about the "blond bear"....is it a type of hybrid or an albino of a sort?
Black bears will sometimes lighten up their hair color at the salon in the hills....lol... No, they go through color phases like people do. Some lighten up, then go dark. Others just stay black. why did you kill the bear? to eat? no sarcasm .. i really want to know
Was dude shooting with a crossbow? I swear I saw something looking like a crossbow.
Didn't know Auston Matthews was a hunter
What's the point in hunting bears?
Sol Hamer Food and a nice rug 👍
What's the point sol, people eat bears dumbass
To make small balls bigger.......
@@ericstenzel6835 Yes i have, and i like it......
Nice shot man!
Was this on Crown land?
how the hell did you haul that bear outta there??
Does the bear meat get eaten?
Why did you shot it
@saskadrenaline are you allowed to keep / use / sell pelt etc?
Bear of a lifetime. Did you get to find out how old it was? Lucky you held off as that first one was nice as well.
That's not a blonde one. Blond ones are way lighter in color. Still an AWESOME animal, and hunt. Great shot.
That's an AMAZING BEAR
Correction- was.
No, it's a monster....
Was an amazing bear .
I'm not a hunter, not have I ever tasted bear meat. I don't see that anyone actually answered the question that I can see. Do people who hunt bears eat the meat or not?
Yes you do eat the meat. Black bear meat is one of the best dishes you will ever have if it is cooked correctly
+Thomas Gardner Bear stew Jackie loves that !
bear sausage is very sweet. depends on the bear though, you want ones feeding on berries, not fish. a friend cut a slice of sausage and let me try it, I didn't know what it was. it was quite good, and a sweetness to it. told me it was his black bear he had gotten.

How come all the bear hunting videos are with bows?
What happened to rifles?
That’s not a bow, it’s a crossbow. More like a rifle than a bow.
Congrats on a awesome trophy!! Be proud of it!!
That was a very good shot with a bow.
Crossbow...big difference
.
Not being a hunter, what do you do with the bear after taking it down?
Eat it. Preserve the hide
great job buddy, the feeling you get when you get that shot off ! perfect :-)
@toddytay He was right at 7' nose to tail and the skull was just under 20"
Bear is great to eat, it is not just for trophy hunting.
Nice crossbow man! was that a grizzly?
alex large no that is a big black bear
I agree that bears would be fine without us interfering but if hunting doesnt help reduce the number of "nuisance" bears. Then why is Ontario having such a problem, now that the spring bear hunt is closed?
nice job! Ive never bearhunted before, but I can assume you would rather not track a wounded bear. Awesome it went down in view.
How much he weight. Nice one. Congrats.
Great shot and what a great bear! Good footage too. === Fellow Pa hunter
when it said blond phase I thought that meant the bear was an idiot
is the meat expensive?
is there a reason you're supposed to shoot them in the heart and not the head?
Beautiful harvest !!!!
Mmmmm bear sausages!!!
Beeeerk!
Wow that was a very good shot ! He didn’t move very far ! Big bear ,right on .
how do you eat bear?
With a knife & fork.
How do you eat beef?

That was a beautiful shot.
Do you put some kind of poision ☠ on the tip of the speare 🏹💉 to kill the bear faster ..?....
Incredible video footage!
Hunting out of a tree stand over bait. Its your best chance at making a clean ethical shot and identifying if the bear is a boar.
why did he do that
Do What? Bear? Hunter?
This bear and my cousin Mary look a lot alike! They both thought dinner was FREE, and they both ended up lying down, nailed and moaning.
It's a Montrule Grizz you INSOLENT little rascal!!
