The best way to manage buying a car is to make an appointment for the end of the month when inventory is at its highest, pressure to sell is highest, and expect to pay $8-10,000 more than the advertised price regardless of how you haggle. Just budget and save accordingly. Other hacks: if you have a spouse, own two types of car, your fuel efficient beater car for working, and your luxury car for weekends. That way you save money driving for work and still get a luxury car for weekend road trips. And the wife gets to ride around in luxury every day, so she feels well taken care of. Oh, and once you’ve paid off a car, NEVER buy another one or fall for dealership buyback schemes. My dealership started sending me offers to buy my beater car used and trade up to a new car right after I made my last payment. They claimed I could pay the same amount I used to pay. I opted to just pay NO MONEY per month and keep driving to work. I save thousands per year just by maintaining my vehicle and driving it until the wheels come off. Funnily enough, I also work a job in a really bad part of town. In the past month my hubcaps have been stolen and my car has been keyed. If I drove to work in a brand new sports car, I would be devastated. However, that’s not my luxury car, so I don’t give a crap. I drive the beater to make money and my sports car on weekends to enjoy it.

Buy yourself a Lexus or a Volvo from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s with low miles, maintain it well, do your oil changes on time, and you’ll be driving around super comfortably for a long ass time. No shit ass touchscreens and LCD displays in those cars, either. They got more class and attitude in terms of aesthetics than everything else that came out afterwards, too. Seriousl vehicles from an era before the world got completely feminized and r’tarded. A Mercedes from the 80s is also an option, but there you gotta watch out for rust and rubber & electronics going bad. More of a headache when it comes to that, but the engines and chassis are absolutely indestructible.

I sell cars and I'll tell you rn that some of these guys def are skeevy af but some are just good guys who can make good money with their charm. It's not as bad as kyle makes it out to be. Except for the hours, the hours are bonkers

I think it might be good if you checked out Kyle's prison stories, I loved those. Humor is subjective and I'm assuming this isn't your cup of tea whatsoever, but I definitely can vouch for Kyle being a great storyteller.

What Taylor experienced is typical. The real money makers for the dealerships when it comes to sales are the finance guys. As FPS said, the dealers only make 1k usually on new cars, after they take out the commission for the sales guy and the manager that closes it, the dealer isn't left with much. Selling you things like protective coatings, extended warranties, etc, have way better margins than any car they sell and is where the real money is made. It's also why the finance guys are typically the highest paid sales guys besides the managers typically and a lot of times they even make more than managers if they're good at what they do.
Yeah, the service writers ripping ignorant people off is the big thing. One of them managed to get my mom for 4k worth of bullshit on a car I'm 100% certain had a bad rubber coolant hose lol

Salesman are here to help customers create a deal that fits thier budget, and respects their time while doing so. The dealership ALWAYS wins. It's called a business. I used to be a new car salesmen. Most of the warnings about dealerships is true. The dealership is trying to get as much money as possible from the customer. And they use many tricks. But its the managers that do the tricking and pressure the saleman to follow through with them. The tricks are in the financing and, warranties. So its not a fun job.
