    Yes a definite item on the shopping list. A real good friend of a boat in many cases. Even if you beach up for the night. Turn it upside down, lower the pressure and get a tarp over you and a comfy sleeping bag. Bingo! What luxury. Thanks for the video. Take care.

    420D denier is thicker and more abrasion resistant than 210D that,s why its used for the base rather than the tubes as its more durable. I specified 420D for both although you pay a weight and pack size penalty. Your production and comments on use were spot on. well done.😀

    Excellent review. I’ve been eyeing one of these up. Itiwit gear tends to be well made and good value. This has reaffirmed it. Loved the tinder comment 😂

    Hey Stevie! Thank you for a great review.
    I had it confirmed by Jerome from Itiwit's French HQ that the Packraft Paddle 500 would be coming in 2023. It will be a 5-piece adjustable paddle. In fact, you can find it in Itiwit's 2022 catalogue. 😉
    I'm waiting for its release.
    Happy paddles! 👍

    This is new for me. I didn't know about these rafts. It's probably good to cross small lakes and rivers while you trek. Cool.

    Hey Stevie, your review made me buy this packraft 5 weeks ago. I was having doubts between the 100 or 500. I already gave it some serious abuse on shallow, rocky rivers. No problemo at all, it passed the test with ease. The materials are very strong. The front side is a bit low, it means you will catch water quickly on white water, on the other hand it means better aerodynamics with windy conditions. I will test it this week with a fin from a sup-board. With a bit of improvising, you can transport quite some bagage, but the 500 is obviously better suited for that. Thanks for this grand review, grtz Eckie

    So glad I found this video randomly as there is limited info about this raft online. I'm still torn between this and an MRS model as they are the most affordable in Canada. The tracking on this one doesn't seem great by comparison but that's a weakness of all packrafts in the current gen it seems.

    No good for me personally. However a GREAT looking raft that looks very well made (No supice there as it's by itiwit ) and I can see many people having a great time with this. Great review mate.

      Thanks! Yeah that's exactly it - not for everyone, but a really well put together boat and great for hikers and bike tourers. So impressed with how light it is

  • @pamepame3686
    @pamepame3686 Год назад +2

    Great review! Interesting concept. The main drawback seems to be the difficulty of keeping a straight path. That's because you're basically paddling a very light dinghy with no keel. Normally, such boats would be rowed (i.e. facing backwards and pulling two oars at the same time, so the propulsion is equal on both sides). Why don't they just include two rowlocks to make that possible? I can't imagine they would increase the overall weight substantially.

    • @StevieWyatt
      @StevieWyatt  Год назад

      That's a really good point. I might experiment with that with a couple of dinghy oars, wouldn't be difficult to glue some makeshift rowlocks

    This would be perfect for me to paddle out to camp on some of the islands in the nearby lakes.

    Hello, I am undecided between the pr 500 or the pr 100 for small tours in the sea in the mornings. I know that the purpose of using packrafts is lakes and rivers, but I really need the practicality of the packraft and I believe that it can be driven in the sea as well. Do you think there will be a big difference in tracking between the pr 100 and the pr 500? Which one should I buy? In terms of price and performance, the pr 100 seems more reasonable to me.

    Thanks for the video! Have you tried to itiwit packraft 500? How does it compare? I'm considering one of the two for my trips

    • @StevieWyatt
      @StevieWyatt  Год назад

      Thanks! I haven't tried the 500 yet, but what I know is it has a stowage compartment for your backpack in the rear, and it has a spray deck so good for more challenging conditions than the 100 including some white water.
      So I guess it depends on what trips you expect to do, and how far and how wild you will be going

  • @Genzaijh
    @Genzaijh Год назад +1

    I can sum up the review of the product in a few words. The packraft will float you across still water. If you only need to travel 100 m or 200 m this is the perfect choice for you as it will get you across water. ( Though you won't be able to transport your bike across the water. ) But if you plan to spend more than one hour in the water, if you are wanting to guide yourself across water with precision then look for a kayak that has fins on the bottom of the kayak or the X500.
    I bought an early generation of Itiwit's kayak that was designed basically like this. I paddled about 6 km and it took me about 6 hrs to paddle, the problem was, I couldn't build up speed, The harder I paddled the boat would just spin around. In the end , I don't use that baot because it does not effectively transport you from point A to point B. I got my worth out of it because I got it on sale half price but there was a reason they discontinued that model.
