When I was a kid, I used to pull a John Deere mounted 4-16 plow behind our 720 Diesel. One time, I pulled a John Deere semi-mounted 5-16 plow with it. It was a bit of a struggle in 3rd gear, but I got the field turned over.
That 70 looks about as nice as it would have leaving the factory. There might be some who don't care for the 2 cylinders but if they had grown up with one they would understand.
God I love the sound of those old 2 cylinder tractors. Didn't care too much for the hand clutch, especially with a loader on it. Our old (new at the time) MM G705 had a hand clutch but that wasn't so bad being we only used it for field work.
Mine was built Dec 30, 1954 and shipped the next day to the Minneapolis Branch. Round wide front, long axles, dished rear wheels, 800A 3 point, Power Steering, live PTO, front weights, rear weights. Used to pull a 12ft 110 double offset disc, 3-16s anywhere, 4-14s in 4th gear in the bottoms, 6 row cultivator. Had 15.5x38 Firestone Field and Road bias on 14" wheels just like yours, done correctly. Pony motor parts started getting ridiculous and mine needed freshened up. Shouldn't have sold it.
I found this forum post on Yesterday's Tractors that explains the differences: www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=jd&th=653156 Looks to be rear end, PTO, transmission, and options.

A 720 with a 5 furrow 16 inch plough in 3rd gear is not ploughing.
@@JurieNeethling-f1v since you can't spell the word, I'm not too worried about your thoughts on the subject.

Man o day that is one nice 70 it is going to play with those plows you need 4 -14" trailing plows on that
The 70 looks identical design to a 720,what changes were made to the 720 other than the yellow paint on the hood?
