I flew up to Toronto from South Carolina on this day to see The Surfrajettes for the first time. These guys opened and played an awesome set. I'm expecting their new EP to show up from Hi-Tide any day now. Great band, great music.
I really like this. These are the type of surf instrumentals that I like best. Dangerous. Desert road, late night Tell Laura I Love Her car duel. The winner gets the girl. The loser, too young to die. High energy Guild player. Bass player totally detached in a world of his own. Drummer's eyes fixed on his ride cymbal and there's the jazz grip on the snare. And then there's the bit when the talent arm is played with the left hand. And in the background the instruments, a hint of what was to happen a little later that evening.
