Grampa Paine attended our church in Michigan 30+ years ago! Missionary Dr Pearson (dear, dear man) was my neighbor back then! When Grampa Paine mentioned Sierra Leone, I wondered if he knew Doc Pearson. What a small world to follow your RUclips videos and see this awesome interview of your husbands brilliant, Godly Grandfather💙

Thank you so much for sharing Grandpa Paine’s life in Jesus!
Please tell him that my mom’s family worked closely with Dr. Lincoln Nelson who was their missionary doctor in the Philippines. The Lird also led my husband to be the first hospital administrator of Bethel Baptist Hospital which dr. Nelson pioneered & at 2003 when our daughter was born BBH celebrated its 50th year & the Lord allowed us to meet Dr. Nelson in person when he came to grace the 50th year anniversary of the hospital. We are so grateful to have been a small part of the medical missions through BBH. It is a great privilege to be a part of the Gospel ministry through the medical field. To God be the glory for Dr. & Mrs Paine’s lives. His Truth indeed will March on till the last brick is in place. Thank you grandpa Paine for your love for our Savior! ❤❤🙏🙏

What an interesting life! Love the wisdom of the elderly. When I was in high school (early 80’s) I interviewed my grandfather (for a homework assignment) who came to the US when he was 19 from Ireland. I still have the tapes (made into CD’s for the family). It’s such a treasure and I’m so glad for the high school assignment! It is great to hear his voice. 😊

If I was grandpa Paine, I wouldn't even THINK of getting married again. When my dad died, my mom said the saame thing. God gave her ONE man for the rest of her life and I just feel it would show a lack of respect for the one that died, that bore you 9 children, that followed you around the world faithfully. For another woman to come into that history is just wrong. I can tell this man feels this way but is humoring you. He will never be lonely with that many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in his life.

Such an amazing story. And not only does grandpa Paine look great for his age and health, his mind is sharp as a tack. That’s a gift in itself. It’s amazing compared to today how someone could put themselves through medical school with just 3-4 jobs, attend all your classes, do homework, married with 2 kids. These days 3 jobs wouldn’t be enough. And back then without the internet, his wife found that special school in Canada and took off for a year. Amazing. I would have no idea those special schools existed or what the options would be for missionaries especially back then. Sounds kind of like the beginning of Doctors Without Borders with the missionary twist. Wow so the mission board paid for your kids college while you were on mission in Africa? That was a deal. I didn’t realize you had moved near grandpa Paine. When your family announced a move to Florida, I thought it was a choice out of the blue. Did grandpa Paine help you find your house and is the church the same one he attends? Sounds like you have other siblings in Florida as well. ❤Also seems just like families who appear to be cursed with hardship after another and passed down generations, the blessings bestowed upon grandpa Paine and all his selfless work for God passed down the blessings to his kids and their kids. Such a blessed family with careers in medicine, awesome wives, etc.

I enjoy your videos very much but this one was extra special. As a young girl I was a part of a children’s ministry called YMWB. The teacher taught us about missionaries serving in foreign countries. Your Grandpa and Grandma were one of many who served. Later I also was a freshman in college with their daughter Beth. Then many years later my husband and I met Dr. and Mrs. Paine at Brooksville when Mrs. Paine was still living. You did a great job with his interview and what a testimony they have!! It was special to hear and many of the familiar names he mentioned were missionaries we heard about each week at YMWB.

I really enjoyed this interview. I always loved it when missionaries came to the church and still do, to share their experiences. Some missionaries have suffered great persecution for sharing their faith. Others were an answer to a prayer for those who needed them. All missionaries did it out of a calling and a sacrifice financially to serve Our Lord and others.
I would love to ask Grandpa Paine of he ever worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta who also served the leopards?
