oh my god I loved the family dynamics of this show. Didn't care for all the teen dating drama but really, the relationships in this family were written and acted _staggeringly_ well. It felt real, and detailed. Not just [insert generic parent characters] like most teen dramas do, where the parents are just used as plot devices. Sandy and Kirsten had soul. They were funny and imperfect and caring and real.
This just reminded me how much I want to marry a Sandy Cohen Josh Schwartz created such believable chemistry for the Cohen family; you could totally see Sandy and Seth as father and son. "We Cohens are very sexual beings - *virile*! Get used to it!" /dead
They initially planned a scene where Sandy watches and advises seth whilst hes having sex with Summer but they thought that would be too awkward in the end so they cut it from the script.
Its a simple conversation.... Kinda goes like this "It's like banging a tennis ball against a brick wall, which can be fun. It can be fun, but it's not a game."
What a show. I would've loved to spend a day on that sound stage. I can't figure out how they made that set. Did they build a whole house? How did they create the 'outdoor' spaces? And the pool? So many questions. The Cohen house is as much a character in the show as its human co-stars. 😍

I concur. The Cohens were great. All the love interests (and I mean all of them) didn't hols a candle to the family dynamics
They sadly drifted away from it in season 3
