Wayne is also very good at reasoning and thinking outside of the box in terms of how to approach things differently to the extend possible of challenge himself to perform better despite the age and all gifts that comes with that...
When I use to play years ago I practice not smart. I over practice a lot. I press the mouthpiece too hard when tired now looking back. I made some progress when I use Max Gordon book. But finally I gave up after years of playing. Now my grandfather who I never personally knew was a great trumpet player Bunny Berigan. He learn from my great grandfather how to play. But I don't have any idea how he practice. I wish I did. I took lessons from Jerome callett. Back in 76. But it did not help either. Jerome was very strong in his playing. But I did not pick it up. I love the trumpet still just don't play. I am 68 now. So I won't try again. Thanks
one criticism i have of this podcast is every conversatio leaves you with these questions and wishing they'd gone deeper. I get that its not the purpose maybe of the interviews but I bet most trumpet players watching want expansion on these subjects watching these

Glad it was helpful!
well brilliant, terrific - but what do I do to be smarter? what are all the 'smarter' things learned by all over the last 40 years?
