You can definitely tell someone at Riot watched Nimona cause the cinematic, her personality, her expression, it's so much like Nimona.
Seems more like a coincidence. Nimona is a very recent movie and this animation must have been in production from some time.

I love that we’re slowly amassing a group of rebel girlies who escaped from the Black Rose. First we had Annie and Rell, and now we’ve got Briar. Can you imagine them putting together a resistance to take LeBlanc down? I think that’d be so much fun :)

Thinking bout how they cant put real violence in the cinematic, its kinda useful they recriated that spiderverse+nimoma+get jinxed artstyle. Really beautiful and a character that may not be what we expected but still give some funny vibes.

i love briar highkey the nimona type persona i live for cuz we currently only have jinx and highkey this her long lost kid. and that discription ya no... hate it. it doesnt exist to me briar is looking like the slightly older female potential friend to annie since there both in noxus right now. cuz she doesnt give "villan" or anti hero vibes but like i need the fatest fast food meal ever and o itll be def fast. but like i still have control over who my friends will be

Her splash art has very big eyes and mouth and she has a very petite frame. But yea, the in game model and the cinematic make it pretty clear that she is not close to a kid.
She is the size of a young adult but her body proportions are that of a prepubescent child. She's like... a child of a giant but it's obvious her splash-art is low-tier fetish bait.

I don't necessarily see it, either, but it's similar criticism a lot of anime designs get. Heck, Genshin Impact itself is FULL of characters like it, as an example in similar form of media.
I'm sure someone will pull up the head-size-to-body-size-ratio chart eventually, though.

Julie Nathanson is so amazing as Briar's VO, can't wait to hear more lines.
I must admit I adore her design but I was hoping for an entirely different personalty / voice, I can't unhear jinx in this, sadly
based on the splash art alone, I wanted some whispery, fucked up, naive, creepy little gremlin. Soft spoken like kindred but make it eerie, until she goes frenzy.
Gotta give it to the voice actress though, she NAILED the frenzy voicelines

This feels like an almost great situation ruined by questionable decisions
The funny part about the description is that it makes logical sense, but I 100% DON'T believe them when they claim that as the reason for her appearance. I'm confident that they made that bullshit up to seem less weird (it didn't work)
With that said, I love her design.

When Zoe came out League messed up some thing. Bad stories like Zeri ( there is acceptions ) more same desingned champ etc. I mean look at Samira and Nilah. Different stories but same character. And then they dont even did a cinematic this season but they were know how much we like those. Some thing is changed. I hope Riot will be aware about it and return his old style.

I really disliked her design at first, when i saw her splash, because honestly she looks so much just like a child there. But seeing it in Movement and how she transforms it looks so much better than what her splash makes you expect

Like. Okay so the concept of using your feet cause hands are bound is really cool, and her in-game animations really sell that. I also think that she SHOULD have strong legs as a result and have the top part of her body emaciated cause starvation. Like these parts make sense, but BOY THEY STILL MADE IT WEIRD HUH DIDNT THEY. Even the vampire trope of somewhat normal at first with creepy vibes would be 100% on brand... but then we got child face proportions. This is absolutely fixable it is not too late dear god riot its some splash art tweaks and texture adjustments

When I heard those descriptors I imagined something like Lovecraftian fishpeople with blood sacs, appearence including Karma's Mantle of Decorum but with BLOOD and SPIKES however otherwise based on Victorian fashion: Plundered blood hiding underskirt, pliable flesh made appealing with corset etc.
(Now thinking, this sounds like a skin idea for Belveth)
