Hamish Hawk are just about my favourite band right now. Some amazing songwriting and a broad range of musical styles. Excellent live too!

Can't wait to see Hamish, he's the support for the Travis 2024.

Hamish has explained how fascinated he was by St Pauls cathedral, and the fact that amazingly it was designed and fully built during Christopher Wrens lifetime. His masterpiece. So Hamish sets out trying to do his equivalent but in music. So to write an equivalent (song) masterpiece Hamish will need a ball point pen, to write down the lyrics. Then I gather he has just pulled random abstract content together. Its brilliant. My favourite however is "Elvis Lookalike Shadow" .

The main plot of the lyrics (after ball point pen) decribes an affluent young couple living well until his sudden death. His wife (the character) lives on, but it's not the life she wanted, not the life she signed up for. The difference in the line "Jim dear, It’s living... the dream" near the pool and "Jim dear, it's living..." after his death. Upset, both at lossing him and lossing the lavish life they had, she drives into a pool. He too (now dead) had all these goals their affluence would have provided: Gosh darn it, he just wanted his life to be similar to the well-known athlete, the beloved by many, envious life leading man who was the (insert song title). 😊
