    communication b/w user and database directly is the 1 tier communication.(not the 2 tier)
    in 2 tier we communicatre through a application install on client pc which helps them connect to dbms

    At 9.11 minutes you said the 1-tier archi interacts with server... sorry to say this, but according to my knowledge in the 1-tier architecture the database is directly saved on the user's PC and the user can directly access the database and no server is used....

    Please can someone help me. Does it mean that 1 tier has only two layers? I thought it would have client computer, an application later as well as a database all in the same system. Or does the file server do both the functions of the application and database,?

      file server is simply the data ( like hard disk )......where as the database server is files integrated by a dbms software (which manages and interferes with the user and data)

      Servers are different. 1- tier is file server and 2- tier is DBMS server.
