I do know what you mean Phillip :) I lived overseas in Dubai and also Australia away from the family i used to get care packages of topic choc bar and lots of other Uk stuff made me go awwwww. OMG the chocolate. Every time I go back I bring home as much as I can . lol There are many places to purchase it here now though . They even have it at Walmart . More money but worth it . Love my Yorkie bars and of course Cadburys. Have great evening . !

It used to be 5 Star rated and was occupied by American politicians and rich Arab Princes and Sheiks. When I stayed there about 3 years ago it was looking tired and dowdy with worn carpets and scruffy decorations. Very disappointing.
Hi Maximoo I love this Hotel and it reminds me of an updated miss Marple set ;) The Decor is so beautiful and love the oldy worldy touches in a New ambient setting. i was bourn in torquay lived abouv the harber and worked in the imperial hotel as a chambur made, dont no if ross ruby still works as a porter, 40 years ago, lovley hotel was in the same school as ross ruby if your still in torquay,
It is a dump, the furniture is disgusting, the service shocking, the spa changing rooms disgusting, a hotel with balconys you can't go out onto, the head boggles. Pull it down and be done with it.
@bidingtime Not an ex employee, just somebody whos family history with the hotel goes back 70 years, (Including my grandad being chef in the 50s and 60s) to when it was one of the worlds best luxury hotels. The good news is that owner Mr Brownsword has finally confirmed that the hotel will close and have a multi million pound refurb with massive structural changes to the exterior, returning it to it former Italianate style, and total modern room refurb and new luxury spa and pool complex, a 21st century 5 star hotel fit for purpose. It will close next year and the new hotel will be born around 2024. I am now happy as at present it is a dump, a rotting dump, no other description for it.
Gorgeous! You know I’d love to live in a hotel like that with a penthouses use room. If I won the lottery that would be the ticket. Lots of people to talk to, service, breakfast dinner and all the fascilities and that view!

Hi Christina Greaves sorry for the very late reply I broke my collar bone and I am just on the mend ;( We have stayed at many of the Hotels in Torquay and we like most of the ones we have stayed in. I tend only to put up the ones we liked and leave the ones we didn't out purely not to give them a bad rap !! we like different ones for different reasons the grand for us is because it is close to the beach and the Imperial because of its views.
