@@austinniemela We have a 75' that's great but has an issue with the front tires rubbing against inside of wheel wells when cornering on uneven pavement. Any idea what could be causing that?
Can't even explain why I like watching and working on these old mini trucks! Just seems so relaxing to work on simple and cool machines. Thanks for doing this Austin!
Nice project ! I think about stock patina, few inches stanced, big wide steelies and that enough. I live in France 🇫🇷, and here we don't have so sweet Mini Trucks so i'll follow this build ! Love your channel 💪
This would be the perfect shop truck! In 1984 I bought a new Mazda B 2000. Fanciest one you could get. %5,999.00 + $700 for aftermarket A/C and it didn't come with a stereo and no power steering. Charcoal grey, white wagon wheels and it had 5 white stripes along the bottom that I peeled off with a heat gun and painted the wheels charcoal grey. In the day it was a badass little truck. I like your ideas so far and maybe I'm just remembering my old truck, but I think it would be cool to dip the cab and bed or whatever they do now so that bed seam never rusts and paint it nice with 60s series tires. Just super clean, dependable and good mpg. My friend had an 83 Toyota short bed with a 22 R, It was charcoal grey too. Great trucks.
I have some mechanical experience, but I’m always amazed at how people can completely dismantled everything AND remember how to put EVERYTHING back together properly. I’d be taking lots of photos along the way. I suppose with experience, it gets easier. Nice old Hilux. I have an ‘88 in Canada.
Ohhh lord here we go…. I can’t wait to see a final build, that thing will be better than new when you are done with it. Love your channel bro cheers from Miami.
Good job man, go on building it as You wish it to be. Everyone who watchs it has own ideas about the project, but You have to build it, soo the decision also has to be Yours.
I like where this is going, even if you are sticking with the 22/20r. Based on your drive into the shop, a long travel pre runner build should be next project on the list.
Slam it with air ride... I second that, change it up from your typical style. Just don't do that camber stance stuff, just a nice clean neat frame laying bag setup
I actually just bought my first truck today, it’s a 1978 Datsun 620 with a 4spd manual. I’m exited to see what you do with this build and I will definitely be following!
My dad and I both had one of these at one point. I just sold his with 700+k miles on an og 20r. Never even had a timing chain or head gasket replaced. I turned mine into a pretty fun pre runner, had 2.5 king coilovers and long travel. I have a set of a arms for this truck if anyone is interested ..
I'm sure you're far along in the build ideas but I would love to see a bagged or slammed Mini truck! You already have the offroad ones covered and an old mini truck just smashed on the ground would be sick
Your on the right track, you have a solid foundation. Preserve what you have, redo the chrome, clear coat it, throw some black and chrome rims on it. Cool little truck.
Bro seriously your one of the most craziest mechanics that I've ever seen,,, by the way this truck is very popular here in my country home '' sudan' so keep it up and best of luck with the build 😊
I hate to say it for that Toyota.... You should go with a air suspension. I really want to see it on 35 but if your not going for the 4x4 off road rig. Then go with a smooth airbag suspension.
just found this channel, got my first TDI with an ALH and once its nice and healthy ill pull it for a swap. this channel is super motivating !! You are quite the craftsman. also have a 96 hilux waiting on my remanufactured 1kz block to get here and drop her in !
Another fun project... however I can't see you not doing a paint job lol... but a lowered ... chopped.. channeled rat rod mini truck... ummm... or swap in a V8 built... or tub the rear for a nice set of street cheater slicks tall skinny front tires soft suspension and a rat rod drag truck... 77.. nostalgia lowered wide tires on all 4 corners... rubber fender lip extensions and a shell or one piece aluminum bed cover and tons of sound system lol... So much possibility 🤔... have fun with it. I have no doubt that once you see your vision it's going to look great in the end and everyone is going to enjoy seeing it all come together... [ no way was that a pun from a late 70's song... come together right now.... lol lmao]...
Don't kid yourself...we all know you're going to do a full build on this, including a gorgeous paint job! And we all know how absolutely incredible it'll turn out 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Bro, we all know how this is gonna end.. Lol.. That thing is gonna be better than new. Let the build begin!
So stoked for this build! Looks like she rallys pretty good haha
Haha for real she rips in the off-road!
man so envious of the knowledge/time/patience required for these types of rebuilds. i love seeing things be rebuilt.
"I'm not gonna go all out on it..."
Strips everything off to the bones. 🤣
Looking forward to the next episode.
Haha I meant fixing the body and rust 😂😂
@@austinniemela but I wanna see your panel replacement skills!!!
if one of his vehicles has a flat tire, he'll do a complete vehicle resto, then change the tire 😆 this guy is awesome👍🏽

I have no doubt this build will be awesome. You have a track record of building amazing trucks. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Can't even explain why I like watching and working on these old mini trucks! Just seems so relaxing to work on simple and cool machines. Thanks for doing this Austin!
I hear you! These old trucks are fun to wrench on!
I think is better if you can make this car new again, please do a full restoration of this legend, this car need to be a piece of art!
that's crazy, I'm watching two brothers building cars and living their best lifes, bravo!!!!
Can’t wait to see what you do with this! Love these old Toyotas. I have a 77 hilux/chinook. In the process of swapping the camper onto an 80s 4x4. 🍻
Quick turnaround, and I couldn't be happier! Red and Green turned out great, I'm ready tonsee where this build goes!
Yessss please film it all! I know editing is a pain in the ass. Thank you for the great videos!
Austin, deep down you know you can’t leave the cab and bed “rusty and crusty”. She needs a full restoration with new paint.
new paint causes stress
Nice project !

This was my first vehicle as a 17 year old. Mine was lowered with aluminum enkei rims. Good memories.
Dude it would be cool to see it 4 linked with bags and cool custom 18" steel wheels with patina and the factory toyota hubcaps
Like the Detroit steel wheel smoothies but with Toyota bolt pattern custom back space and provision to retain the original Toyota hubcaps
I like where this is going, even if you are sticking with the 22/20r. Based on your drive into the shop, a long travel pre runner build should be next project on the list.
I was going to say the same!
Was wishing to see that as well full caged LT pre runner please as if I had your skills lol !!!! Thanks for the vids
looking forward to the next video. I picked up a 1982, and have had a lot of fun working on it. Takes me back to when I was a teenager.
love those old school toyota trucks! miss my mini truck!
Slam it with air ride... I second that, change it up from your typical style. Just don't do that camber stance stuff, just a nice clean neat frame laying bag setup
Yessah he listened to me 22r bottom end with a 20r head and dual side drafts love watching the videos keep up the good work 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Extremely stoked on this one! Love these older Toyotas. Got 2 myself :D
I built a 73 years ago. It was full tube chassis, 1uz v8 swap, air ride. It was such a fun little truck. Last i heard it was somewhere in Washington.
So stoked for this! Had a 78 I stripped down because it was too rusty!
What a dream truck
I'm digging this for sure. My high school truck was a 1974 HiLux, pretty much looked like that one. It was bomb proof. Following.
Thanks! These old trucks are sweet!!
Miss my Hilux! Love to have another one.
Best Toyota Project Yet, long bed gotta GO, and maybe slam it with air ride man. 👍
Or hydraulics like SoundMan did with his T-bird, either way you can't Go wrong. Love Channel Man 👍
Super syked for this build! Can't wait to see the end result!
I actually just bought my first truck today, it’s a 1978 Datsun 620 with a 4spd manual. I’m exited to see what you do with this build and I will definitely be following!
my first truck back in the day, enjoy
Your obsessed with old Toyota's, and so am I 👍
it is a diamond in the rough for sure
Would love to see this be a 4x4 conversion
It’s a HiLux! Go big! It deserves it.
Raptor linear frame would be sick
That cab and bed deserve a decent paint job .
Ehhhh I like the patina
Do a giveaway on a Toyota restoration 😂 love your work man!

I am excited to follow this new build!
Nice job Austin!!! Congrats!!!! Greetings from San Luis-Argentina
hello from Uruguay l congratulate you for the new Project and strength with it
Yes!!! So glad you're doing this build can't wait to see what you create from it.
Davis unified ignition distributor is the way to go,will work with the sidedrafts,u can get it with vacuum advance or not, with power steering or not!
Loving the build, looking forward to seeing progress.
It would be sweet to see the truck frame notched and then throw either a 1ZZ or 2ZZ under the hood.
Annnnnnd we're off!!!!! Psyched for this build Austin!
Perfect sleeper
Looking forward for front and rear custom bumpers!!!
Toyota Hilux clásico es lo máximo 💪
If you put a little anti seize on the bolts before backing them out it works alot better.
Can’t wait to see this truck knowing you it’s going to be nice

This one will be great! Can’t wait to see the amazing final outcome. Barrett-Jackson worthy!
Looks like a w50 to me 👌
Nice setup on this cant wait to see it with the side drafts. Building it just like they do in the islands.
Parte 2 pleaseee, saludos desde Paraguay🤲
Mini trucking for life
Awesome project!! Can’t wait to see the final outcome !!!!
Beams motor with side draft carbs🔥
Love this type of build ! Your talent will turn this into something cool. Looking forward to watching the progress
Someone else mentioned it, but I was thinking that this truck would be dope as a pre runner. Some 33’s and beefed up front suspension with coil overs.
Things gonna turn out sweet!
I've put several 22r intakes on 20r heads they work fine just port the head to match takes about an hour or so to port those.
Bro seriously your one of the most craziest mechanics that I've ever seen,,, by the way this truck is very popular here in my country home '' sudan' so keep it up and best of luck with the build 😊

New Subscriber from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 love your channel ❤
You should consider selling your project builds. They are all attractive vehicles and very marketable.
If it were mine it would get a 4 link and air bag suspension, nothing crazy just enough to lay it out.
just found this channel, got my first TDI with an ALH and once its nice and healthy ill pull it for a swap. this channel is super motivating !! You are quite the craftsman.

Sweet sounds like fun!!
This channel deserves much more views
Awesome!!! Hello from Yakutia!
Cool work!
Mine says 1976 one ton. Of course it has a big fiberglass camper on it but it's still my truck
I love them.
I am looking forward to this build!!!
Man I'll be watching out for every progress of this project.
You should be like Jonathon Ward and build custom Toyotas for the rich and famous.
That classic is going to be on another level, my friend👍
Yes, if you're not going 4x4, put this thing on bags, and make it a sleeper. Do kinda big wheels, but not to big. Make it look like a Matchbox car!
Please make it a solid axle 4x4 like the first 78Toyota with Wolverine Conversion. They were so neat!

Hope you keep it as original as possible 🙂, good luck from Baghdad
Gotta put that a air bags =)
This should be called "an ode to the 22re". Love it
Yessir, finally a build on my most favorite trucks out there💯💯🔥🔥🤙🏾
Big fan !! Go all out on it!! Like you do the others!! Big fan like i said!!
Man I'm excited about this one!
You should covert it to the wolverine model using the 79-83 toyota pickup frame and axles!
Please man, don’t let the body die. Don’t leave it crusty.
Build electric power steering into it (Toyota) when you put the cab back on. Works great.
That gonna be sickkkk💯💯💯
This build is going to be great. Call it Frankenstein and do whatever the hell you want with it!
Back to original or air ride and nice wheels
Don't kid yourself...we all know you're going to do a full build on this, including a gorgeous paint job! And we all know how absolutely incredible it'll turn out 🤟🏻🤟🏻
No no no not paint!
I hope you'll do the same rebuild like the last one, make it look nice, don't leave the body as is..make it nice..
Good job man I love this car
This is going to be awesome. Can't wait!
I love this! I had a 78 until a drunk driver totaled it. Big sad. Can’t wait to see what this truck becomes! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
