Actually many of us are Scotch-Irish...and we have absolutely no idea what that means. Except we're pretty sure it means we're 75 percent Scot, and the other half Irish. 😂
To those percentages, in my case you can add, based on my personality (and indistinct family lore), about two thirds German, and enough American Indian that I probably owe myself reparations for everything I didn't actually do to my own ancestors.
Btw, awhile back, I actually looked up Scotch-Irish. And I now know that it isn't actually Irish that were full of Scotch when they sailed over here.😂

I’m so proud when I get your inside jokes, but here’s one I had no idea about.
“Mayo for Sam is reference to Gaelic football team Mayo, who have not won the All-Ireland championship since 1951. The Sam part of the saying is referring to the Sam McGuire cup, the trophy awarded to the winners of the All-Ireland championship.”
They haven't won since 1951, but they've been to the 11 final times since then. Naturally the whole place has decided they've been cursed by an angry priest.

@@sage4365 it means that he’s from County Mayo and support their Gaelic football team. The teams are just counties playing against each other, that’s why you hear him say “I play county” it’s a brag to say he’s on the team.
Now, the Sam part is just the name of the _Sam Maguire Cup_ that the All Ireland senior teams compete for every year.
And the 4 is jut for “for”
I’m from Cork so if I was big into Gaelic football I’d say Cork4Sam

Agree on that. I follow them from Argentina. Also, the slang it´s more or less explained in the old sketches "when irish people can´t speak irish" or "never take an irish person literally", for example.
