My dad was an alcoholic when i was a kid, this video hits me hard because i know how it feels to have nothing, but to learn that the past is the past and you have to move on no matter how hard it is, my dad has been sober for 4 years now, the memories hurt, but i forgive him. I love you dad
As someone whose faced a lot of adversities in life, this song has always spoke to me. I love to listen to it whenever I feel myself getting angry and dwelling on something bad that has happened. When you’ve had a lot of shitty things happen that weren’t within your control it’s easy to feel angry, bitter and get caught up in a victim mentality but this song is a reminder that sometimes you just need to roll with punches and forgive yourself and others even when it’s difficult. We can’t always control what happens to us but we can control how we react and whether we choose to dwell on adversities or grow from them. This song touches on the fact that when “the sun is setting” you can either look back on your life with anger and regret or you can look back on your life and say I made the best life I could with the hand I was dealt. So to everyone out there going through something tough think of this song and think about how you want to feel when your “sun is setting” do you want to be angry/bitter or do want to be happy that you made the best of the situation you were given? I don’t know why I just went on that huge rant.. but I hope it helps someone!
The feeling of running away from an abusive home, only for it to get dark outside, all your friends have gone home and you have nowhere else to go, so you stare at the front door you tried so hard to run away from. Knowing you're about to face your consequences from the monster that dwells inside. I don't know how this director caught that feeling, but i know it very well.
My dad died due to complications from alcoholism which is why I'm sober today. I can relate to this song so much. I can't even begin to thank my dad enough for setting an example for me. Love you dad miss you
I am so sorry about your Dad. And be proud of yourself every single day for being sober. I have unfortunately lost way too many people to addiction..and being an admyself (now sober), I know what a hard walk it is. So keep going strong.
I think one of the hardest things in life is wanting to have a loud voice or more importantly, wanting that voice to be heard. We're all so caught up in our lives. Please take a second to realize the people that surround you... Sometimes, they need you and sometimes... you can save their lives.
One day I was home after work and custody issues were taking a whole toll. I fell apart. This came on I knew i listened cuz it was Classified. I was so mixed raw emotions and I fell the floor on my knees in my empty home. I KNEW then it wasn't gonna be easy... i just listened. I felt too many things about the situations. How was i ever gonna live...the balls to walls is litereally what i applied. So that's what I did that year forward. Just apply and move ..do it until your body hurts. Research. Live. Everything happens once. Not twice, i lived, and learned this with my parental custody battle.. the courts dates, lawyers, middle officials, and my houses, cars,..jobs. work..professionalism...like i not okay..i couldnt really have any thought. I felt broken..this brought my seconds back made me pause.. I litereally switched my mindset. I felt alot of work I had done...I hadn't known then It was gonna be another 6 more long years....I realised this day gotta really stop.. my day was way too much. I was relieved to hear this ..I just bawled like a freak of nature. That was only the half way point.. glad to share I now won. Who knew then.. glad i never ever gave up. Thanks
Still one of the hardest hitting Class songs out there. Not enough attention being given to this man's body of work despite the level of talent possessed.
Classified: The only rappers that don't brag in their songs. The only real rappers that create songs with deeper meanings. Because of this, they have my respect.
Desiree Sun to be truthful Macklemore cashed in on a subject thats hot and made a lot of money from( I Hope he gave the proceeds of that songt to progressing knowledge not of just the gay awareness but a general acceptance of difference. I gots mad respect for his song and his influence that he got from I guess his gay uncle, but to say he conscience or even on the same standing as class is misconstrued as being hip hop when it really isn't. Macklemore is hip pop. and there aint nothing wrong with that. good music is just that.
I still remember the first time I seen this video and felt like I had a connection with it, yet I was still so young. Odd feeling that I still think about to this day, growing into a kind young man, trying my best each day. Hope you all are too!
I recently lost my grandpa due to cancer and my dad hasn’t been handling it well since he’s an alcoholic but this song has been in my life since my uncle introduced classified to us and my grandpa liked the meaning in this song and every time I listen to this again,it brings me back to when we would listen to this song while going on a drive while the sun was setting. I thank you class for making this music to help me keep going ❤️
Classified is one of the most underated, true/real artists ive ever heard. Notice how he doesnt rap about money, sex and how many bitches he gets? But yet he goes hard, and has great raps about things that actually matter. Stay classy Classified.
I remeber when this first game out. I loved it then. Even tho I changed as a person it still holds its meaning. Such a strong song. Thx classified. You mad underrated
You know, my parents are always saying that Rap/Hip-hop is worthless as a music or art-form, but every now and then, I like to prove them wrong, and this video is one of them, showed it to my mom and it moved her to tears. Damn good Work Class, drop by Lethbridge AB again, missed you when you were at the Blarney Stone last year.
Just discovered Classified today. Gotta love this guys style! I am 44yrs old and this reminds me of the positive Hip Hop message from back in the days.
3:18 The Danforth. Born and raised in this area and we look out for each other. Huge shout out to Square Boy, Greektown! Love this area and even if I move, my heart will always be here.
24 now and I'm still here. I'm dad now. My baby brother has his own house now. I'm moving to a whole new province in Nov. Crazy how time flies. I miss everything.
i found this song, early in the morning on november 1st. by the end of the day, my closest cousin to me in age was dead. I am incredibly thankful to have this song around right now. Thank you Class, You're amazing and i love you and everything you stand for.
My dad, drunk, left death threat on an answering machine after my mom left him. When he learned what he did after he received a court letter, he couldn't stand it. Sadly, his decision wasn't to stop drinking. He thought we hated him. It's a shame he has never listened to us. Life went fast for me after his decision. I made mistakes, kept trying to stay afloat. Now my biggest regret is he'll never see my 4 kids.
That's a sad situation but everything in going to be alright. My girlfriend always tells me that. She's right even though I don't always see it that way. This is just a game. Life never stops.
Class was one of the best live acts (Evolve festival, Nova Scotia) I have ever seen in my life. Love you, Class. Peace and love from a fellow Canuck in China.
Man I totally forgot about this song, literally went and found my old Apple ID and this was on my old purchases. So buying an iPhone after so many years of android brought me back here.
Both my parents drank... lost their lives to cancer, me and my brother drink heavily and hardly keep in touch... this video makes me want to change things
It's sad that even in Nova Scotia they never play anything good like this on the radio, just the same 20 classic rock songs and the same pop songs all day every day.
Hearing this song, with three kids under 13, is what made me want to be a better father for them, and shortly after lead to me giving up booze. Mad respect to all out there. “Stay Classy”🤟🏻
Everyone is fighting a battle. We are all trying hard to keep our head up. Remember that when you get mad at someone. They are probably going through some shit, and you maybe overreacted because you are going through some shit. Forgive. Forget. That's a lesson we haven't learned yet.
There is a youtuber called Dan Bull, he does a lot of raps about games but some of his best work is the songs he makes about life, and politics which has nothing to do with games. give it a shot. ruclips.net/video/V9EbQcIvVqE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/VEvfhAdq_-I/видео.html
Classified has always been real and stayed real. Years passed, he still does his best. You can tell he really loves Hip-Hop. I'm glad there still artists out there still being real. I'm glad I'm from Nova Scoita too. One Love for Class!
Coming back to this song and video brings back memories of a year ago. things change but the great part about music is it'll always be waiting for you to come back. Very simple but powerful and artistic song as well as a video.
I am so happy that I finally found this video. Always loved this song, and the song for the credits is fucking PERFECT. I wish so much that Class gets more recognition. Whenever I want to feel a wave of nostalgia I can turn on some Classified I'm gooood.
The most unrated song in history, class is the best man, I got so much respect for this dude, hope you see this, and hopefully come back to capebreton sydney man !!

great song. I get shivers every time I watch it, both because of the song itself and the moving video. i doubt classified reads this stuff, but keep it up man
My dad was an alcoholic when i was a kid, this video hits me hard because i know how it feels to have nothing, but to learn that the past is the past and you have to move on no matter how hard it is, my dad has been sober for 4 years now, the memories hurt, but i forgive him. I love you dad
Just saw how long ago you wrote this comment, & don’t know if you’ll even see mine now, but praying your dad is now 16 years sober 🙏.

Macklemore too ^-^ People like Classified deserve respect for standing up.

This song makes me cry every time. Definitely a childhood song.
When I saw childhood and edited I knew something was off. Glad to see that you agree.

Classified, you are a shining example of Canada's quality, homegrown talent. Goes well with our quality, homegrown...stuff. Regards, man.
Its a shame there is no "love" button.
Was stopped at a red light today with the window down and this guy pulls next to me with this playing. Thanks buddy!
It's sad that even in Nova Scotia they never play anything good like this on the radio, just the same 20 classic rock songs and the same pop songs all day every day.
A Veteran from Nova Scotia takes care of me, my sister, Angels come in many skin's. Love and Light 💖🙏
(Cough) Money… City…
classified is on of the few remaining hip hop artists that spit lyrics that actually have meaning
I lived in that neighborhood when I was little, and I remember that same house and that convenience store
is this in Toronto?
yes
Britany Cheung ayy
Where is it specifically I would like to see it
It would be cool to the location of a set
252 Westlake Ave :)
The people who disliked this does not know what a hard child hood is. ;(
The lyrics paint a picture. And the video says things words can’t
I'm 15 years old, and its so hard not to cry watching this video, reminds me of my dad. I miss him alot. R.I.P. :'(
Forgive, forget that's a lesson that we haven't learned yet
Its really a shame these videos dont have more views, a decade later the message is still relevant.
Just came back myself. Frisson to the max.
Deserves more than just 1.4 million views...
2.18 million?
The song at the end is " Young Soul " just in case anyone was wondering :)
This song helped me forgive my ex-wife. My life has been so much better since I told her I forgive her (although I won't forget).
Hearing this song, with three kids under 13, is what made me want to be a better father for them, and shortly after lead to me giving up booze.
Mad respect to all out there. “Stay Classy”🤟🏻
watching this for the first time since 4 years ago...whos cutting the onions?
Always dug that he gives forgiveness at the end & doesn't go down the drinking path, ends up happy.
We got this shit boys.
This explains my entire life
Always find myself coming back to this song when life gets too tough
This guy should get more subs!
Everyone is fighting a battle. We are all trying hard to keep our head up. Remember that when you get mad at someone. They are probably going through some shit, and you maybe overreacted because you are going through some shit. Forgive. Forget. That's a lesson we haven't learned yet.
