Loretta Devine is in EVERYTHING. She is in a Netflix movie produced by TI and Queen Latifah called The Trap. It is total garbage. Even in trash like that her acting shines. Now mind you I couldn't finish the movie. And I highly recommend Black people stay away from such sh*t.
My point is she's one of the hardest working women in Hollywood.

You know there are only about 10 Black actors and actresses in Hollywood. The way it's told very few Blacks can act due to our "Black Genes".
Actually, Don Cheadle once explained about 15 years ago, a producer explained to him actors and actresses are chosen based on a "points" system, and many times a project's approved budget is based on how many or how few points are scored. Due to the perceived popularity of Jenifer Lewis and Loretta Devine, and the need for Black shows to not take too many risks with their casting, you're gonna see some of the same co-staring or supporting adult Black actors and actresses circulate from show to show.
There is also a bit of professional nepotism within Hollywood which also aides in seeing many of the same faces, but there are some talented lesser popular Black actors and actresses who Jenifer Lewis, Loretta Devine, Laurence Fishburne, established film, television, and stage actors have known and worked with for decades, and their influences can't get them onto shows, due to the "Point System".

It was towards the end of the interview he mentioned a director showed him a printout of movies that were being considered and for each project there were names of actors and actresses with a number next to them. When asked about the numbers, the director explained to him about the point system. He was told the star, co-star, and supporting actors were chosen based on their score; the higher the score the more successful the movie might be. The director also explained to Don that the score also determined the percentage of the actor's budget might be; the higher their score, the more out of that pie they might have to pay them.
