I thought the Guilloché machine was interesting and amazing to see a real machine that an artisan would use. For some reason I keep thinking Tim Mosso... He does like green..
Quite amusing the way that the Swiss industry deliberately doesn't add a few sensors and servo motors to the old guilloche machines when they restore them. It would get much more consistent quality results than the human eye, even with magnification. Or build a modern CNC guilloche machine. All to maintain the "handcrafted mystery/fetishisation of guilloche" from what's just a technically obsolete human-operated machine. Still, good for the old profit margins.

I think they also want to keep some of the hand made skills and craftsmanship but you are right I imagine they can automatic this process.
