Great post. Keep pushing em. They are required to make it right. Nothing wrong with pursuing the right thing.
When I started trying to get a new chair around January of 2019, my choices were a Quantum 4Front and the Permobil M3/F3....after seeing this, I am so glad that I did not go with Pride Mobility. The only thing I regret is getting an M3 and not an F3. It's really shocking to have that bad of quality control, given the fact what these things are and what they're supposed to do.
I guess we should call this Welcome to Dan's Neighborhood rather than Mr Rogers.
My comment on the new chair is
the chairs cost way to much money to have any problems when new.
I know what you mean about slow Dan . Its funny when I went from my manual chair to my M3 going 6.5 mph was faaasst for me . Now 6.5 is sloooww.
Still new to power chair about 6 or 9 months now .
But would like double speed

I'm sorry your chair is still having problems. If Mark E. smith was still around, your problems would have been solved long ago. Quantum could create a lot of good will by delivering a WORKING brand new chair to you, and taking away that lemon you got. Every time I have gone to the Abilities Expo, I have noticed the Permobil display always had many more customers than Pride/Quantum. One reason was Permobil techs were there adjusting chairs and fine tuning the programming on customers' chairs. Be careful.

Yeah I've said the same to Dan, I am deeply involved with Abilities Expo Toronto show.
I'm in an Permobil M5, only because the jerks at Quantum Canada couldn't tell me if they were going to keep supporting the Rival (that thing was a BEAST)
I was very interested in the whole wc19 fight, myself, got Permobil Canada into the Frey & got confirmation from them.
So I went with M5, have had it a year, it's been pretty awesome.
Permobil in my mind it will always be the number one wheelchair company out there. My first experience with Invacare was ok but there was a lot of maintenance involved in terms of bearing replacements, And I was having moments where my engine power would cut out and I would have to reset the engines.
But ever since I got my F3 back in 2015 I have had zero issues with it! The only time I had a problem with it was when the seat elevator was making a loud noise that I like to call the Chewbacca virus. It turned out to be a factory error and was replaced free of charge. Then the only other time it was in the shop was when I had my lights installed so I can drive at night with my highbeams and use my turn signals.

I had the brakes due the same thing n also at certain mph the motors started vibrating n feel it into the joystick.if your having traction control errors from the rear caster sensors that can be turned off in the systems part of the programming units the techs use.every thing been takin care of but the rear caster bearings keep breaking n throws the traction error, have to replace entire caster arm assembly since they press a bearing on the caster shaft,usually need casters recalibrated after replaced.I got the 1st 4front in my area n been able to give tips if other people are having issues with there 4front.

Hey Dan I just got a quantum edge 3 and have the same issue with the random motor errors and the same issue with the leg rest not extending when I put the feet up. If you find a solution please let me know. My biggest problem is I can't get comfortable. I dunno if the seat or backrest sucks but it's no good. This is my fourth power chair and first quantum.

My new Amy came and went on Friday, the arms were reversed and the armrests were inbosrd instead of outboard and needed to be drilled so my guy took it back to the shop instead of messing with all the nylon bushings and possibly losing a few well working on it .
There are a few changes between my current gen 1 and the new Gen two , seems like honor tweaks enhanced motor sprouting a slight strengthening of headrest ,rear battery door has metal latch instead of plastic hear shroud is a little streamlined and of course the 8 ' do am filled pneumatic casters are now standard ( on my Gen 1 I paid for them , seemed stupid to have two suspensions and pit casters from pa's wagon from little house on the praire on it ),seems the factory realised i was right ) .my first chair was junk didnt live to see its 5 th birthfay ,my gen 1 will become my backip chair in case of problem ,thats a treat i am not used to . This chair has been so dependable ,i literaly bought another !
I don't understand why Quantum, made in USA can make half ass chair, and give you hard times?

That chair sound like the old Invacare dinosaur I had, then nearly killed me with a freight train coming just to have the chair stall out on the tracks! Local service company and manufacturer never did figure out what was but in my situation of quadriplegic with no water movement thank goodness for a good samaritan who pushed me off. It's upon calling the manufacturer they told me my chair was not meant for transportation and was only supposed to be used indoors? Losing a service company is nothing new with me especially when they want to use a product that I could lose i.e. my sip and puff straw the most critical part of my chair! Unfortunately in the state of Arizona the insurance companies only contracted with three service companies in the whole state? I have already gone through two of them and this last one is no better than the other ones. I have/21 century bounder that has been broken down since August. The only saving grace is lots of money out of my own pockets into my old bounder overall it's an okay chair. I'm still working with rearwheel drive and after nearly 30 years I don't think I can convert to anything else. One of my good friends from high school has a wheelchair company who accepts payments but that option is wearing thin with the substantial balance remaining. I only have Social Security for monthly income due to the craziness right now my summercamp job got canceled. It's funny when the service individuals can't understand what we are talking about repairs are necessary otherwise they are a deathtrap! I use the bicycle lanes and public transportation so having a crazy chair is not an option. The drivers refused to touch you and you have to call the EMTs to rescue you off the bus. I also work around small children and the first time I run one of them over I will have the rage of a parent after me. At least you have video footage to prove your point and wish I could do the same thing especially when on the road in action.
I remember Mr Rogers as I was born May 1951 . I was just 69 on the 19TH. I remember Captain Kangaroo , Romper Room & others on TV . OH YES I heard the motor noise that is so rediculous on a new chair . Did you get the RES MED MASK info I left on your Sleep Study vlog ?
What time is the service do you get for your wheelchair
I have a quantum chair and lot of problems. It took them a year and a month to fix it.they changed the controller 3 times both brains 4 memory chips 3 sets of batteries all it needed was an update put on it. The controller still isn't programed right.had nothing but issues. The chair alsogets stuck very easy. I have.to have my phone or an escort with me because of that
my Q6 its in holand fixing from the 107 error and it burn a cable and stuff 15.000 euros thrown way... im using a C400 so im really desapointed with quantum right now
Every time i hear about a quantum chair (except for the q6000) its always negative i had a q6 edge that broke down consistently after one year of use with brackets snapping completely and almost weekly. I now have an f3 and even while doing no maintenance and treating it a bit rough comparee to what i would normally do (its a rental) i have had no problems at all. I dont think ill ever get a quantum again after my expirience
Shaun Millett I had a Quantum for a short while & hated it . THat was before I got my PERMOBIL C - 500 HVT Duty from the Tampa VA SCI Center ,
Do you live in a house or an apartment ? I live in a senior building . My PERMOBIL C - 500 has high speed motors 2nd set but no longer made by PERMOBIL . There is an issue some times I start rolling then it stops on me .I don't know if there is a short some place or what . Since you've worked a lot on your chairs do you have any idea what it might be ? When it happens I have to turn the chair off & back on I told the VA power wheel chair mechanic about it & he said may be it's time for a new chair . I like my chair . I've had it since around April 2008 or so. He replaced the motors , all new tires , batteries & put a light package on the chair & had to also replace the hand control due to the light package . The new motors aren't as quiet as the original ones you can hear me coming . Do you have your own programmer for the chair ?

a small magnet on a stick or something pointy.. just have to reach down into the slots on the seat back and slide them back up.. its super annoying to do though!

im about to get a new chair im a c4/c5 quad where i live i really need a chair that does good outdoors and can be driven inside and with tilt i was thinking about getting a frontier v6 but i have medicare and medicaid and i dont know if they will cover it. what chair would you recommend if medicare and medicaid wont cover the frontier v6 also ill be using sip and puff controls. magic mobility has the c73 their website says its covered under group 3 medicare but i dont know how it does outdoors. thanks for any help
magic has a number of models of chairs - a lot of them are 'hybrid' chairs - which means ya can swap on the larger off road tires easily..
I think I'm gonna go with the bounder 300M and get the offroad package. How wide is your bounder from the outside of the left to the outside of the right rear tires?
I would want to know what you like about the Bounder and the Quantum .
I am a bit heavier and really like the range on the Bounder. What are your thoughts?
I am starting now to see about getting a new PWC in about 3 to 4 months.
i still like amy systems for the HD chairs.. insurance will usually buy them as well.. the bounders are heavy duty as well.. but they take a bit of tinkering and maintenance to keep them going.. (adjusting drive chains mostly)
the reason i went with the 4front is the suspension.. its like nothing else out there currently! also i wanted to try something different - and see if quantum has gotten any better about anything... guess we know the answer to that now! the build quality seems good - but customer service, and quality control.. not so much...

What is the update after a year? i am scheduled for a wheelchair evaluation tomorrow and was considering this chair. I have the Permobile F3 currently
ended up getting a lawyer and forcing a return unfortunately. i really wanted that chair to work out!

in my case - yes. it went in for repair 8 or 9 times in the year i had it - including 6 sets of motors. it's too bad.. the chair was comfortable! but there were constant control system issues, the shocks started leaking, and the motors and brakes were unreliable on my chair.
The DME told me not to touch the Quantum w/ a ten foot poll! I ended up going w/ the F3 again. That sounds like a nightmare!! I don't think I had that many issues w/ all my chairs combined. Thanks for the info!

Dan my DME is just as bad I have called and emailed them trying to find out where is my 4 button seat switch that has been over 6 months, even after a tech has come out to verify the issue. I have had my Q6 HD for a year now so it is a shame the money for these chairs and the crappy service you get,if it was a automobile the dealer CSI would get a hit and you can bet it would get the regional office involved. But DME's act like they got their money so see ya. I am getting ready to get in contact with Pride/Quamtum to see if they can get involved If this would ave been a car I would have done a lemon law suit months ago. I too have the same issue with the elevating leg rest were my legs do just like yours are doing I was told that is normal so they just blew it off. I know one thing when I need a new chair I will not be getting one thru these POS DME company.
File a complaint with the FDA like Dan did. Thats what gets their attention.

How about contacting some of your news channels ? Check E - Bay or Craigslist for a used programmer ? I have 2 friends that are Quadriplegic for decades . One who is married w / a son n daughter n in a power chair n drives a PT Cruiser convertible other friend is in a manual chair n drives a fairly new FORD Transit van . Do you play or have you played any wheelchair sports? I've played Wally Ball & hand cycled w/my quad friend who is not married .
I havs a dead Permobile C300 I drove for about 8 years with only basic maintenance until the actuator assembly broke & Numotion jacked me around & repeatedly came & messed with it billing the government & I've been arranged for over a year now.
Started the process to get a new one in December with National Seating & Mibility recommended by my medical case manager & now supposedly about 5 weeks from now I may get my new chair.
I'm afraid their gonna stick me with the damn Quantum & there'll be all manner of ugly maintenance drama to come.
Dan can you help to ease my worries any or have things only gotten worse?
My case manager didn't have anything good to say about Numotion & recommended NSM.
I'm curious as to who your DNE provider was?
And also I have poor vision & you mentioned Mr Hood. Are you also in Portland? If so... where were you dribbling in the video? Waterfront or??
i ended up getting a disability lawyer, and we forced a return of the 4Front. im using a permobil F3 now :^) - there are people out there in different quantum models that have good experiences.. seems to be hit or miss.. hopefully ya end up with something reliable! the video was out by the national guard base in clackamas county

'technically' they cant force a specific brand on you - if you are in the portland area - lookup 'disability rights oregon' - they offer free legal services for this type of thing - sometimes there may be reasons one brand vs another is preferable.. but its best to figure out why, and what your options are :^)

You should still keep pushing these people. I have a Quantum, and so far it has worked for me. But if someone slapped this thing together, you should let Quantum know, and insist that the problem is corrected.
