Li Ge was Zheng'er's perfect match! She brought out a softer side to him and I think she might've been able to tame his wild ways with time. He cared so tenderly for her and even though she was a pawn for Yan state I think she really fell for Zheng'er and might've told him the truth later on.
I feel terrible for him. They should have let him marry Li Ge. She was able to make him happy. A real mother would want that. Haolan... definitely not a mother.

Zheng'er was always a little unhinged but then everyone in this series is. That's the imperial family for you. Historically he didn't have a Queen. But he did have over 50 children so he wasn't exactly celibate 🤷♀️

honestly, i don't really like where the show headed. feels like we don't know the characters anymore. haolan and lu buwei always butted heads in their own way, but now they don't even really work together. and haolan is the main character but it feels like we're watching a totally different show about politics and her son and lu buwei now. what happened to watching haolan triumph over her enemies? the show feels directionless now that zichu died. i miss watching the trio (haolan, lu buwei, yiren/zichu) work together to achieve their goals. now that they achieved them, their characters just feel empty and wrong
You summed up “power” just about right... life feels “empty and wrong.” Even if she loved LBW, she can’t be with him or get any warthm or comfort from him or any man, so their frustrations are turned on instead of love. You’ll find later they have to hide and fake her boytoys as eunuchs instead. What’s that feeling once you achieved the ultimate power position you wanted. Do you want more? Regardless all that, I don't think he should wed Li Ge or make her his queen. She was essentially a spy. Her loyalty was questionable, and from her last chat with the Yan prince, sounded like she didn't even sincerely love Zheng'er. Then again, if you saw this from Yan country pov, I can understand why they're doing what they're doing. Qin was a bigger and dangerous country, they want to keep their people safe.

Sometimes i don't blame him for how ruthless be became later. There's only an amount of chances you can pin someone. They were not helping him grow, they kept showing him that his incompetent and can't make decisions it's normal that when he finally got power he used it in a wrong way

Now that zichu is dead the story gets really better, I would love a long continuation from that arc. Haolan is in power and lu buwei too and now we can see a new perspective of power and responsibilities. Power requires discipline and good/reasonables choices for maintain the balance of monarchy. I understood the position of Haolan about Li ge, even knowing that is very sad she died and she was perfect for Zheng'er but at the same time she was not a good choice for balance and stability in the future for Qin. Love is very dangerous in a monarchy. I can feel the history is close to a end and it's so sad 😭

Li Ge is just a random character the show’s producers made up to justify Zheng Er’s descent into craziness (in case you don’t know, this show is based off history). 😂 they are trying so hard to humanize that psychopath of a man, but alas, even a tragic Cinderella story wouldn’t redeem Zheng er and what he did to his mother in the end
