Toph even made files for the game, he was quite known for them back in the day. And he isn't alone within the Melee sphere: Dan Salvato was a Keyboard Index player ruclips.net/video/AQ3sC8KaPyU/видео.html Further fun fact: Tom Scott used to play Stepmania and made a editor in 2002 to create files (charts) which was one of the first. So yeah this one of those niche hobbys that make you go "huh, the world is smaller than you think"
Amazing run! Dimo pushing through the pain was inspiring. You all are such great ambassadors for the game. I really hope we continue to see dance game showcases in future years! Thanks for the stamina shout outs!
8:18 for my chart. REALLY good commentary on 'Soft Ignition', given how fast you have they had to discuss everything going on. Also, what the hell was that Flying Castle run at 56:35????
This is so heartwarming, exciting, welcoming, and positive. In high school I played a lot of DDR, including practicing a doubles routine with a friend to show off and crafting my own tracks for songs I liked. I also dabbled in Stepmania in college. Thanks so much, y'all.
Wow, the Toph Original charts were some of my favorites getting into SM. I had no idea it was the same person I was watching on smash commentary for years
One of them said that you wouldn't be able to notate those rhythms that were on the "skittles" chart on sheet music, you definitely could, it would be difficult, but especially in jazz or percussion focused compositions weird rhythms like that are pretty common.
Tough to say. ITG scale is roughly comparable to old DDR scale. I think DDR 15 is around ITG 10. I think it would be fair to say DDR 18 and ITG 13 are level
Stepmania Tech uses 1-15, as opposed to DDR using Difficulty 1-20. a DDR 14 today is like a Stepmania 9 or 10. If you remember the old DDR 1-10 scale, stepmania is closer to that but goes all the way to 15!
Cool video. I think tech is better represented on 2 pads at the same time. Maybe that is something you can host next time. I think it would be more interesting for the audience to see
This was so fun. Can't wait to do it again. Thank you for your generosity in making it happen!
Great job on everything.
Killed it!
This was amazing! What's the pad you're using?
@@garfieldnateI use a gen 1 StepManiaX pad!
Ridiculously impressive. Missed this on Twitch but caught it on my youtube subs. Great job dimo!
I swear Toph just shows up in everything nowadays, had no idea this dude was into StepMania😭

He was a prolific charter for stepmania before Smash
also used to be one of the top beatmania IIDX players in the west back in the day
I knew about Toph from his old keyboard charts way back in the day. Nemesis Oni was infamously very hard for the time
@@Sarrg wait what. HES THE SAME TOPH? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I NEVER FYUCKJING REALIOZED
DDR / Stepmania has deserved more exposure for so long
Amazing run! Dimo pushing through the pain was inspiring. You all are such great ambassadors for the game. I really hope we continue to see dance game showcases in future years! Thanks for the stamina shout outs!
Why do they call it stepmania when you step in the arrow groove step judgment out the score?
…did you have a stroke?
Why do they call it in the groove when you in of the steps out groove the judgment arrow?
Why do they call it Matt Silver when you matt in the silver matt silver out the silver?
I'm suddenly questioning if I understand the English language
this was soooo cool. i´m glad i was watching this live. Big respect to dimo, he did a awesome job.

This was the highlight of AGDQ for me. What a fantastic showcase and loved the energy of everyone there with dimo!

This was incredible watching it on Twitch.
What a fantastic run, dimo!!! This was amazing to watch as someone that accidentally got into rhythm games
Lord knows I watched this simply to hear Toph commentate
Matt Silver 1:20:10

When we have to switch feet due to a hold, why don't we just call em kicks?
We should
@@dimoextremo Wow this aged extremely well haha. 2024 the year of the Kickswitch!
Amazing
And here I was thinking I was hot shit for being able to pass Max 300 on expert back in the day.. This guy is amazing. Very impressive.
It was really nice to see this.
this comment section is just filled with every cool person on the internet & i love it

Muito bom ver jogos de ritmo em um GDQ! Well done guys!
Dimo is a beast. Can't wait for RIP and ITL
His run of Matt silver made me realize that there are people that are not human in this world
tech community REPRESENT
Impressive. Very nice.
Hi, what exact software / theme is being used here with the cool global leaderboards etc / where to get songpacks?
The best Tech
I'll take "Places I didn't expect to see Toph" for 1000
Omid is the best. ❤ awesome showcase from the 🐐.
How do you get that leaderboard with groovestats on the right? Anyone know? Thatd be appreciated
How does the difficulty rating for Stepmania compare to that of DDR? I play 14 comfortably in DDR and can do some 15 and 16.
I would say that DDR 14 feels like SM/ITG 10 but the charthing is wildly different
A 14/15 in DDR would be close to an ITG 10 (close to 11), and itg 14s would be close to DDR 19s
Tough to say. ITG scale is roughly comparable to old DDR scale. I think DDR 15 is around ITG 10. I think it would be fair to say DDR 18 and ITG 13 are level

I’m not 100% certain, but DDR 14/15/16 is close to a tech 9/10 range on average. Give some tech 8/9s a try and see how they treat you, it’s fun!

ah wow. taking me back to mad matt doing infernoplex 1.4x rate days lmao.
Heres me back in the day playing on the lowest setting on these games and this guy now likely needs new shoes
I would love to know his VO2 max
