People say they are the poor man's Martin...however Yamaha is its own thing, and a good thing at that. Vintage Yamaha's are among the best of any guitar maker.
Hey, Eric! Yeah, this one is in amazing condition! I really lucked out! By the way, I had every intention of giving you a shout out in this one, but then I forgot. I will catch you in the next one! :)
I have a very similar model from 1971... with very small differences in the shape of the headstock and bridge, even the picguard is not like that, in color... is it the original? The vast majority of people said they lost or detached this piece, myself included. but it is a beautiful guitar that I love.
Saw this video a while back, but was interrupted while commented and simply forgot to come back and finish it, so here's my thoughts. Not mint, but stunningly beautiful! The pickguard is just killer. Those older Yamaha guitars are amazing to play. The clarity just makes them a joy to play. You do it justice girl, and that's a fact. Hope all is well. Haven't heard from you in a while, so hope all is great with you and yours.
Hey, Randy! I completely agree with you... the vintage Yamahas are amazing! In a class by themselves, I'd say! And thank you so much for your very kind words. Coming from such a great player, as yourself, that means a lot! Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend!
I have one just like it. The only guitar I’ve never traded or sold through all these years. It goes to my grandson. BTW mine still has the original pick guard.
Hey, Richard.. That's awesome! Most people I talk to have sold theirs at some point. And having the original pickguard is a major bonus! What a wonderful blessing for your grandson. :)
Sweet old yam, I have a couple old ones myself. You're lucky the neck angle is okay, is that a red label? Those older ones sound pretty good, the only issue is on some of them they used epoxy on the neck joint so if it needs a neck reset they're impossible to take apart. Even the all laminate older fg's sound pretty darn good.
I think the late 60s and 70s instruments where better because material wasn't skimped on , a little heft . My 70s D50 Guild was to die for , big mistake selling it . That's a nice Yamaha
@@cksongwriter8216Good day! Have you compare fg300 to guild d50? Which one you like? Thanks I want to buy one of this guitar but can’t choose which one should I buy.
looks and sounds beautiful
Thanks so much, Alan! She's a keeper! 😃

Totally agree with that!
Heya CK. Yeah this one is a real beauty and sounds amazing too. It's a good thing this was still in one piece. Keep rockin'!!

I'd love to hear that! Don't think I've ever seen one.

Agreed on all points, Charles! And yes, it's a Nippon Gakki red label. :)
Is that Brazilian rosewood back and sides?
Not sure, but the fingerboard may be.
Hi, do you still have the yamaha fg 300..?
I do, yes!
@@cksongwriter8216 is it for sale maybe?
@@tapnagroh674 Not at the moment, but you never know.
Is $300 a good price for one?
@@thirdgearband Yes, definitely, if it's in good condition. Be aware of the neck. The vintage Yamaha FGs tend to often times have bent necks.
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Hey, Lawrence! I'm inclined to agree with you on that! And you sold your 70's D50?? Ouch!

I prefer old Yamahas to almost any Taylor...
...and BTW - too bad that one isn't really a lefty!
