very informative video...!! Cant wait to see it in flesh!! First glance at it I did not realise the skin has a similar pattern to the bricks..no wonder it reads so well together. These cubes feel like the humble big brothers to the exisiting buildings, shielding the glass boxes and make the original complex stand out even more visually.

Originally I was going to show comparison projects where they took a contextual idea and made the skin or pattern with it. There is always more I could do but time and energy is always an issue. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@Archimarathon You did mention that they are very strict with their concepts and they are well involved with their projects that really got me hooked...I understand how much work these videos take. ISO didnt slow you down at all the quality is very up there Kevin. Also loved that you always mention more projects in the conversations so I could go look them up.....I seriously dont know enough....

Glad to be providing value. Since you are interested, I was going to include stairs from projects I have been to of theirs. Tate Modern, CaixaForum Madrid, Cottbus Library, VitraHaus, 1111 Lincoln Road

Such a lovely conversation !!! I also appreciate the fact that Andrew kindly [consciously or unconsciously ]decided to match his yellow single stripped sweater with the floor, vases above and overall general ambiance...

Yeah I cut out a bit of banter that mentions that. In fact a lot gets cut out for the final edit every week.

The plaza between the two new Herzog and de meuron has an excellent presence with the mature trees and the floating masses.

Yeah it’s a great space. Especially for places like Hong Kong

They know exactly what to leave untouched and exposed to let you feel the contrast most effectively. Masters of character and story-telling. Great video!

Archimarathon no I haven’t... it would be nice to visit one day... especially for nature and ancient temples :)

Hong Kong? No “ancient” temples there.

I really like H&D's work When a starchitect rocks into town, Thier efforts come with big budgets and expectations. When I go to a new place even when it's just out town I like to look at the local and search for the moments where a clever outcome, a detail, arrangement of space etc, and try and get why it turned out that way. These are the bread and butter moments of architecture that need magic from the most of us not on the world stage

Unfortunately that’s not the case for Hong Kong though. By the way you are really checking out all our back catalogue!

Good comment on the air-con side of things. Just like aussie suburbs today, no thought to solar efficiency and environmental impacts.
