I think old Ronnie decided on 14 as it is about the age when kids start high school. Being social is a much bigger part of high school than in elementary and middle school. Plus, high school is when kids begin to learn about the dangers of social media much more deeply which allows them a better understanding of the platforms and the dos and don'ts as well as general safety.
I think what Florida is trying to do with social media is not a bad idea. Very interesting proposal. Social media is toxic to youth and can be terrible for their mental health and development. The problem is that it is so easy to lie about your age so they can still likely make social media accounts. Overall, I think it is a good idea in general. Not the worst idea I have ever heard but also not the best. I can't say I am completely opposed to this type of legislation. Would be pretty difficult to implement I imagine.
I think we’re generally on the same page here. I just can’t imagine the implication and implementation here. Seems like something that’d be so difficult to move on. That being said, social media is mostly toxic to us all and the young people are definitely the most vulnerable.
