I say, give her more. Give her all the shows, all the power, everything. Let her run Disney into the ground and let the vultures pick the bones clean. Only then can actual talented creators start building good shows again.
The name Disney still reminds me of decades of beautiful cartoons and stories that colored my childhood. I wouldn't want it to fail because of the idiocy of one high level exec over a relatively short period of time, I'd like it to find its mojo and make great entertainment again.
Maybe then people will stop focusing on hiring people for a narrative, and will start hiring people again for entertainment. Because if Disney ends up, becoming a thing of the past, that might get people to start thinking more clearly.
Good. Then those rights that Disney hold might actually go to someone capable. And perhaps some content might finally go into the public domain. Disney going away, or being divided is a good thing that should have happened years ago. Same goes with Microsoft and Google for instance, Amazon is another.
Agrred. Im so sick of hearing Iger is mad at her or scolded her yada yada yada....Iger, Chapek and a few others have raised her and put her on a thrown....IGER, CHAPEK and anyone like them must be Fired themselves. They are also the problem
In her position I could have given you decades worth of movies, cartoons, video games, etc just from my cursory reading of the legends material. With a team of people well versed in the legends material? Disney would be bigger than Apple. The share price would be ridiculous.
Kathleen Kennedy is the perfect example of the Peter Principle. Quote from Wikipedia: The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.
The Peter principle applies to almost every person working on every film in Hollywood. The only way to avoid the Peter Principle as you get older is to basically turn down money, as the promotion into incompetence always pays more. You have to decide "I'd rather do the job that pays less that I'm great at", and most people would rather choose the higher pay. So the Peter Principle is found everywhere in white collar work, in these decades where America is so lush with excess money.
Adding a dash of feminist gas lighting and this is a bomb ready to go off. When a woman was not in charge it was men's fault, but now that a woman is in charge the failures aren't her fault, it is the toxic male fans. It's also tiresome.
She actually got very lucky. Her name was attached to projects that were guaranteed successes. George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg in the '80's had the golden touch. Their success had nothing to do with her. But somehow Disney got it into their heads that just because she could be a producer on projects that would succeed no matter who was doing her job, meant she could effectively run a studio worth billions. Let's face it what most of us leave in our toilets has more creativity than she is capable of.
@@iyziejane that is absolutely correct. The solution to this problem is not easy. So who should be in higher management positions? People with charisma, discipline and great judgement of character? Absolutely. But if they come in without any experience, how do they know what to ask for? My example: I'm an arranger and also a pianist. I am very concerned with what musicians can play and how to make it as easy-to-read as possible without sacrificing quality. I'm not cut for being a conductor. I am unable to deal with idiots who try to put my ability into question, just because. A charismatic, handsome guy would be better suited, but does he know what I know? Will the results be any good? Get rid of greed and hubris and this planet would be paradise.
At this point I believe that KK has a personal grudge against Lucas for whatever reason and has made it her life's mission to try and destroy all his brands.
I think KK is Palpatine to GL's Jedi. KK pretended to love "Star Wars" and George the same way Palpatine pretended to love democracy. Once in power, we know what Palpatine did: destroyed the Republic. KK is doing the same to George's IPs.
Good female leads can be seen in Aliens and Terminator. Kennedy obviously does not see that vulnerability is not weakness. Superman was boring until krypton was introduced.
Old people wisely used to say leave vengeance to God. Now she ruined her entire career and future employment opportunities for female producers. Hopes she feel vindicated now.
Kathleen Kennedy aka the destroyer of franchises. How this woman is still employed is mind boggling. This lady is basically executing order 66 on all our favorite childhood movies franchises.
She is just a glorified secretary, a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger syndrome. Ursula von Leyen is her equivalent in politics. These people believe they are geniuses, but whatever they touch, crumbles, because they do not really understand anything.
What has Von der Leyen done so bad? Seems youre the one who doesnt understand anything, at least regarding EU politics (not that this is that much of a surprise for an american, no offense).
In the making-of documentary that was released with the Indiana Jones trilogy almost twenty years ago, there’s a bit where KK (half)-jokingly states that "the women are always the ones getting a raw deal in these films", a remark that is accompanied by an edit of the scene in Last Crusade when Elsa has rats all over her hair. We’re talking about a trilogy of films made famous by the constant ordeal the hero has to go through, from being dragged behind a moving truck to being literally brainwashed through torture to being beaten over with a shovel, a trilogy where the villains get their face melted, their heart ripped out, are thrown to crocodiles and reduced to dust, where an elderly gentleman is shot point-blank in the stomach and last but not least, children are being whipped and reduced to slave labor... ... but sure, the women get it worse. It’s no wonder we’re where we are at the moment, if KK was already harboring that kind of notions some twenty years ago. To quote the same film you did in your video, Chamberlain: "Revenge is a dish best served cold".
Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea but this does, indeed, explain a whole lot about her. It's easy to tell this is how she thinks based on her current actions alone, but it's nice to have actual examples of it from her past.
From an interview with Spielberg: “She was horrible at taking notes... but what she did know how to do was interrupt somebody in midsentence. We'd be pitching ideas back and forth, and Kathy-who was supposed to be writing these ideas down-suddenly put her pencil down and would say something like, "And what if he didn't get the girl, but instead he got the dog?" 🤷🏻♂️
By all rights, she should have been fired after losing all that sweet merch money on unsellable Star Wars toys. She knows where all the metaphorical (and maybe literal) bodies are buried in Hollywood, she won't leave unless she's carried out in a pine box.
I can forgive bad writing or bad performances. I won't forgive someone who intentionally and mean-spiritedly committed cultural vandalism. This was done on purpose and with spite, while attacking the fans at every opportunity.
Who cares if KK leaves now? Five years ago, sure. Two years ago, sure. Even one year ago would have been slightly better than never, but her departure from Disney NOW would be about as useful as the xenomorphs departure from Kane. Don't let her infect a fresh body. She sunk her ship, she can go down with it.
It boggles the mind that Kennedy was able to bring low Lucasfilms to this extent. Even at its worst before Disney, Star Wars was a merchandising machine and when a new show was announced, there was always excitement. Now, only the video games are selling and even then, there hasn't been as many successful new releases as there once was. Announcements of new shows and films are met with either apathy or trepidation. This was a fanbase that was once willing to wait decades for new movies. It is simply unbelievable what she has done.
She's completely obsessed with herself and her naive "girl power" ideology, she constantly damages storylines with her insistence on splicing insanely unrealistic and overpowered female characters, that can do anything and beat anyone for no reason other than them being a female character in a Kathleen Kennedy film(that's as close as it gets to an explanation for their superior abilities?).These new characters and storylines she's created are colossal failures, and the only thing that they succeeded in was undermining iconic male characters like - Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, and many more. Ironically if she was a man, she'd have been fired a long long time ago. Hypocrisy can clearly take you a long way in Hollywood.
@@CleverGirlAAH being overseen by Weinstein’s right hand who worked in his office and did nothing while numerous assaults had taken place there during business hours ? Have you read about Headlynd? That woman’s a monster
This narrative is dangerous and damaging to women. Late stage capitalism has valued competition versus community. It's in a woman's nature to nurture and care, women are so powerful when they are in a safe space where femininity can flourish. There needs to be vulnerability and tenderness in order to grow healthy. Beauty, Grace, Resilience, Sensibility, Empathy are the qualities a woman can and should strive to be and that can only happen with a man who is levelheaded and dependable. We fail ourselves when we fail each other. We can't do it alone and I'm tired of pretending to. We can't create a paradise of our own only God can do that, but we can try.
Worst part is still that Mark Hamill found out he died when he saw it on screen at the premier while sitting right next to Johnson, the man who killed him.
There is also the simple principle: If you are surrounded by the same things for a long time, you loose the ability to discern of it's quality. So if KK was in the movie business for so long, she probably lost the feeling of quality. It's easier to judge from the outside.
It doesn't matter what we all think. It will make a billion at the box office. To Disney that is a success. Critics don't make them money. Bums on seats do!
The sad thing is that if Kathleen Kennedy had put her efforts into making these franchises successful she'd have proved her ideology without having to push it through her films. But by running franchises into the ground, she s given her naysayers all the political ammo they need
@@andygravelle2202 Not really. There are plenty of good stories that COULD be told while including diverse characters, gay characters, etc. I could give a damn about that part of it. The REAL PROBLEM is that making politically-correct films seems to be the ONLY thing Kathleen Kennedy cares about. She doesn't bother with things like writing a tight narrative, writing all three parts of a trilogy before actually beginning filming, making the characters entertaining (I could give a damn that Rose from THE LAST JEDI is Asian...THAT is not why I hate her...I hate her because she's a terrible, whiny, unlikeable character), making the story-arcs consistent & gripping... Kathleen Kennedy is a BAD storyteller. If the films had diverse casts and a few gay characters BUT also felt like great continuations of the original films, with tight stories, interesting characters, etc., then Star Wars would be doing fine. But when the only good movie that woman has produced is ROGUE ONE, then SHE clearly is the problem. And she needs to be fired.
Honestly, she couldn't have done a better job of sabotaging these iconic IP's if she was trying. Literally. She did an S tier job of sinking the unsinkable. It's actually impressive from a demolotion standpoint. These brands were unshakeable before her, through good bad and ugly... but within just a few years under her leadership and "Apathy" is the word i'd use to describe Star wars and Indiana Jones now.
I’d like to believe she’s just so incompetent that she genuinely only knows how to make the worst possible things ever. She’s so stupid and lacking knowledge that she actually thinks people like Abrams or Ryan Johnson are good directors and put them in charge of movies they can’t write and don’t even bother to try and organise them so the behind the scenes directorial process is a mess
She has lost way more money than publicly announced. Dozens of reshoots, projects started and then scrapped, hired directors got fired. absolute control over projects and so on. She has unimaginable power over her bosses and George. There is no other explanation.
Two possibilities she dirt on many in Disney and thus they can’t kick her out cause she could expose them Two she has powerful outside connections that Disney knows they can’t mess with
@pyropulse "Just selling it", does not mean he is out of the productions. He was supposed to have influence over the lore and all their projects. HE was supposed to have influence over every single production, but Kathleen took this position away from him.
I was quite impressed by everything you had to say. Well thought out, concise and as unbiased and fair as was possible. Why don't you have more subscribers?!
KK's choices and guidance have cost Dizney investors 6-12 billion in potential profits. She must really know where the bodies are buried to keep her position after that. Disney is broke and may lose HULU because they are out cash. If Indy Jones 5 were even a simi hit it would help the company a lot.
I see this as an opportunity to move on. The movies I enjoyed in the past will remain in the past. I've already spent money to get them in a physical format and there is no reason to spend any more.
Shortly after my wife and I got married, we made a trade. She'll show me the Harry Potter franchise in marathon form and I'll show her the Indiana Jones TRILOGY. We watched them all over the course of 3 days. My wife wasn't a huge fan of Temple of Doom but absolutely loved The Last Crusade. Even our lovely dog, Beatrice, picked up her sleepy head from multiple naps to gaze upon the beauty of Harrison Ford--and by "gaze" I mean stare. It's a running joke between my wife and I now that Bea only likes Harrison Ford films (she's also seen Blade Runner). Point is, the first three films are magical.
To be fair, Temple of Doom is very divisive among fans. My brother and I didn't like it very much, despite having a few excellent action scenes. We both preferred Raiders and Last Crusade.
She was hand chosen by Lucas. So, what ever dirt she has to blackmail people into leaving her in place must have been collected early enough to force Lucas into his choice too.
KK was NOT Lucas’ first pick yo head Lucasfilm after he sold it. She was the ONLY pick! She has so much dirt on Lucas, Iger and Spielberg that she is untouchable
Even worse, I heard that since it involves time traveling they're going to kill off a young Indiana Jones and erasing the old one from existence. Thus by extension erase the events of all four past movies. And have him be replaced by said plain brunette young woman whose Rey Palpatine level Mary Sue who spent the entire film belittling and over doing him in everything. Im not sure if they changed that ending but if they didn't and it still goes down like that, let's be honest the backlash would be worse then the sequel trilogy combined. And if she isn't fired after that, then either Disney are that deaf dumb blind and stupid in forcing their garbage woke message, or they're that scared of her possibly suing them for firing her a woman in a position of power, because yes she is that petty of a sentient being to try and sue them for that reason.
A standard rule of business is that you never make the reliable second in command the first in command, they are completely different roles requiring different people.
I would love to see a video that breaks down how much Disney paid for their big acquisitions versus how much they've profited off of them. Essentially has Disney made back enough money to justify paying like $4 billion for LucasFilm?
No, each film requires huge investment before it starts making money back, and the studio only gets a fraction of the box office anyway as theatres, creatives and so on each take varying slices. Once you run the numbers you're looking at somewhere from 2-3 billion in movie sales. So do other revenue streams make up for the shortfall? The thing is, Star Wars at the time of purchase was famously one of the most highly valued merchandise brands in history. Star Wars games have defined entire console generations and shaped genres, Star Wars toys are one of the foundation stones of modern pop culture... Well, in the last few years Hasbro has had to completely re-draw their Star Wars deals because Disney era toys sell so god damn badly that the princely arrangements Lucas signed with them are now complete non-starters. As to video games, the first thing Disney did was hand sole creative control to EA, a corporation whose handling of the property has been just as lazy, shoddy and fan-repulsive as they themselves have been with the films. In all, the question of whether that $4 billion has been made back can only be answered by those outside of Disney accounting with a soft 'Maybe'. But that's not good enough. Not good enough at all. That $4 billion is a huge opportunity lost for Disney. They bought Marvel for $4 billion (an absurd under-sell even at the time) and Marvel has had literally a dozen billion or even multi-billion dollar movies along with a string of successful games and is now the current king of toys and merchandise worldwide. Even if Disney hadn't bought another entertainment property with the Star Wars billions, they could have simply used that money as investment capital and made a safe, reliable profit far in excess of anything Star Wars has possibly generated. There is absolutely no way any businessman who attended more than a semester of community college can look at that $4 billion Star Wars purchase as anything but the a fucking disaster.
Due to inflation, $4B in 2012 is like $5.3B today, and that's just to break even. Force awakens probably netted around $800m after all expenses and taxes are subtracted ($2B gross - $500m budget -$500m marketing - $200m tax) . We can estimate Rogue One made as much as $400m ($1B gross, $250m budget). Wikipedia says Last Jedi turned a net profit of $417m ($1.3B gross, $300m budget) and "Somehow Palpatine Returned" ($1B gross, $400m budget) had a net profit of $300m. Solo story lost money so we'll just not count that. This puts the net profit for the 4 successful movies at around $2billion. Disney plus loses money so none of that counts. The LucasFilms Games division has had some profitable titles (Battlefront 2, Jedi Fallen Order, Lego Star Wars) so we'll give them a generous $500m net profit for games (games make more than movies in general, but LucasArts has to share the cut with EA). Galaxy's Edge is difficult to estimate; they spent $1B just for the Disneyland location, but they've indicated to investors that it's profitable. So doe the theme parks make up the difference from $2.5B to $5.3B ? Maybe, barely, in the most optimistic scenario. In conclusion, the movies are the main way they expected to make the money back, and the rapid decline in the profitability of the movies basically doomed them to lose money on the acquisition.
Hard to say, the movies did make a lot of money, but Disney seems to want a multi level strategy. It’s not enough for films to make money but also tones of merchandise and secondary op sales. So far it seems while the films can make money(only solo actually lost money), but those other stratus just fell flat.
@@jacekuntz5195 That's a good point, though I've heard the merch sales fell off after Force Awakens. I just looked up the 2022 net income for Mattel, which was about $400m. Not that specific to Star Wars, but gives us some idea of how big the toy industry is overall.
Absolutely superbly delivered video. I will definitely be referring to this in the future. I really feel #DarthKennedy only wants to see LucasFilm, Star Wars and George's legacy burn; and Harrison Ford too. You're right - she had a position she worked well in and now, with zero creative vision other than 'inject me into this show too; oh and THE MESSAGE' it's clear she needs to step down before more damage is done. What's next? An all female and diverse Back to the Future?
One of 2 reasons why she's still there, possibly 3 (that I can think of). 1: She knows where the bodies are buried, either figuratively or literally, maybe some of both. 2: Due to identity politics reasons, she simply CAN'T be removed, & even curtailing what power she has is problematic. 3: She has a contract that's as iron-clad as they come, where Misney would suffer MORE for giving her the pink slip, then keeping her there. In which case I want to know who her law firm is (may need something like that myself one day), at bare minimum I'd want to read that contract. It's probably a mix of at least 2 of the above reasons, but I'll never know to what degree. Any guy who'd done even HALF the screw-ups she has would've been told to hand in his resignation a long time ago, with his rear out the door ASAP.
@@v4v819 At Spielbergs recommendation. None of us will ever know the real reason(s) she's still there. All any of us have are (educated, plausible) guesses.
@@magellanthecat This was during the Raiders era, so '81. He told George she was a pariah! Apparently, George should have heed his good friend's advice, cause at this point, no one will refute this claim!
We can all agree that she's done what she's done out of 100% complete spite. And the real reason why they won't let her go is because she knows too many things. Nothing short of a medical issue is going to get Kennedy out.
My guess is she's jealous of Lucas and Spielberg and always has been being she was just their coffee girl/secretary. Once she got ahold of the most powerful independent film studio in the world, she made it her mission to destroy the wonderful stories and characters Lucas and Spielberg defined for entire generations.
@@Beltzer0072 Your guesses will take you far in life... Keep thinking like that. You have NO CLUE what it means to be head of casting or production in big productions like these. The world changes and your childhood heroes become grumpy, just like
the problem is who would they replace her with if she left ? (probably someone even more unfit) It's an ever scarier prospect than her staying indefinitely .
The way these stories have been blatantly written to crap on beloved legacy characters leads me to the conclusion that as soon as she grabbed the reigns, she was determined to destroy everything Lucas and Spielberg worked so hard to build for no discernible reason than just plain bitterness and spite. There is an underlying maliciousness to everything she’s touched since taking over Lucasfilm.
Even with her leaving she will bring in someone worse for the job to replace her. Like what joker said. It’s not about the money. It’s about sending a message.
How can someone screw up so much, yet keep their job?!? 20 years ago I'd never have imagined the star wars franchise becoming such a disaster. Then again, I'd never have imagined disney being so creatively bankrupt.
In my estimations Disney likely would have made another ten billion dollars or more if instead of Kennedy there was someone primarily concerned with entertaining people, especially longtime fans. It's almost like there is some kind of "The Producers" thing going with Kennedy. The only thing I can think of that wasn't a total stinker was Rogue One - and it seems that had the least Kennedy influence.
Left JarJar with a hot potato in his lap is a ridiculous statement HE WAS THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER FOR THE LAST JEDI, he knew the score and approved of it wholeheartedly.
The star wars franchise could be fixed very easily with one good show. Even now, there are millions of fans celebrating every new disney star wars content despite utter lack of quality.
I also believe she's racist too, since Finn (A Black Character) was obviously replaced by Rey (A White Character) as the main character in the Star Wars Sequels.
You jumped the shark when you said that Lucas is no way responsible,I agreed with everything in the video up till that,he should in deed be held accountable, and he should have known better.
Lucas sold star wars because of ignorant, arrogant toxic OT "fans" thinking they knew star wars better than the creator himself and their massive hate campaign against the prequel movies. If anyone is responsible for this desaster besides Kennedy and her boss, it is them. Their spitefulness destroyed Lucas will to go on with the franchise.
@@abraham2172 The cope is real, Disney offered Lucas $4 BILLION for the franchise back in 2012; he did it to instantly become a multibillionaire, not because of some sweaty nerds hating on his mediocre kids movies.
@Busta von Nutz Imagine you have a vision for your own series of movies that you pour your heart and soul into and all people say about them is what you just said. Then disney comes and offers you 4bil. I guarantee you'd do the same so don't talk.
@@gamingsuperun This isn't about me, this is about George Lucas. Personally, I'm a greedy kuhnt & would take that deal immediately; however, I would also be directly responsible for the drivel that would result from such a deal, as I would have zero creative oversight over the product.
I find it mind blowing that she was a producer involve good movies in the past such as: E.T, Jurassic Park, Hook, (2005)War of the Worlds, (2012)Lincoln, and other ETC. Also Worth mentioning her role involving Back to the Future and classic Indiana Jones Films What the hell happen? It felt like she become completely different person ever since she become President of Lucasfilm when Disney took over Star Wars!
She's there to oversee a nostalgia machine. You all are just looking for a scapegoat for your fear of new ideas. She is a business person who as made billions for Disney in an industry that is about product, not art (thank you, fandom folks). What incentive do they have to fire her? Her Indiana Jones movie isn't as good as the first one? Interesting thing about Raiders -- before Raiders, there was no Indiana Jones franchise. Same with Star Wars. Think you could handle that kind of world?
What’s even more shocking than the deterioration of three beloved intellectual properties is, that Lucasfilm didn’t release anything new and/or original since it got bought by Disney nearly 10 years ago.
She will be known as the biggest failure in the history of incompetent failures. I think she should keep going. Grind the most popular franchise into dust. Ive gone from anger to cheering it on. Yaaass queen destroy it all!
KK going changes nothing. She has people over her that could have pulled rank. Fact is everything she did, she did with full approval because its their message, their agenda, and she's the messenger of it. Not saying she's not blameless, but its clear she's doing what they want.
She literally chose for her 2nd in command, Weinstein's assistant, and her husband is one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood. KK has an immense amount of dirt on anyone who has "rank" on her. If you can easily twist the king's arm, who's really in charge?
@@steventhomas4499 If Lucasfilm were the only part of Disney with this crap contents, I'd believe you. But look around, she's not twisting anyone's arm. Look at Disney as a whole, the MCU, their new animated crap, the live action mauling of their classics....Kennedy has nothing to do with those, but they're all doing the same thing. Disney is pushing the same shit in every one of their "brands" Because its they're message, period. BY the way, if you're touting Weinstein's assistant in a negative light(as people should) it brings me back to .....funny no one gives Tarantino an ounce of shit, guy knew what Weinstein was doing and helped him by saying nothing, but I bet you loved his movies, don't you? Hollywood isn't just full of hypocrites, its fan base is just as bad.
There a two ways KK will leave. 1: by her own choice 2: by dying Even if 1 happens the next in line will have her on speed dail for her orders of the day.
@ksanbahlyngwa9960 no, she's obviously unfireable. Star wars Indiana Jones, and Williow. Tanked, tanked, and tanked all in her tenure. So she knows something that will utterly destroy disney and she can do wtf ever without consequence.
If you want Disney to succeed, she has to go. But Disney is not the company once was. It is only capable of making bland corporate DEI products that appeal to nobody. So, I'm quite happy to see KK drive Disney into the ground, and for Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm to be sold off to other studios and investors. Disney as it is now needs to go.
I dont fully agree on that. Marvel produced numerous amazing films under Disney, just think of Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy or Infinity War for example. There also were movies like Encanto or Coco.
This was the best description of what's been wrong with all these films and Disney as a whole. Some people are really good at fixing problems, but when put in charge they don't know what to do.
Until we see her going out Lucasfilm HQ with a box full of her office things in the middle of the day, then we will believe. And the one who'll take over , that's another thing to worry. The best way to save the franchise is to sell Lucasfilm to someone who will respect and uplift the brand ( Or sell it back to George Lucas)
It is unimaginable, unbelievable, and unforgivable to start the Star Wars sequels without an overarching story plot and let Rian "subverted" Johnson have a field day with destroying the franchise in a wannabe-auteur Fiasko. If people love TLJ, more power to them but it had no place in a Star Wars trilogy, unless one wants to retroactively strip the whole saga of its appeal. It served the last function perfectly. How she was not fired on the spot after that is a complete mystery to me. She has more lives than nine cats put together.
For several years I had become a BIG Star Wars fan, and then Disney bought Star Wars. Force Awakens was ehhh at best, but Last Jedi was an absolute destruction of the SW lore. I said I was done that day and I haven't returned to anything related to Disney Star Wars
In a world of creation and art, One woman sought to play a part. Arrogant and full of pride, She set out to take the reins and ride. A franchise once so bright and bold, Now in her grasp, it soon grew cold. Jealous of the creator's fame, She sought to make it her own game. But in her quest for glory and might, She lost sight of what was right. Firing those who dared to disagree, She ruled with an iron decree. And as the profits slowly fell, She refused to listen and couldn't tell, That her self-insert characters were just a ploy, To make people love her and forget the joy. Now the franchise lies in ruins and disarray, Thanks to the woman who wouldn't stray. From her path of ego and disdain, She caused it all to go down the drain. So let this be a lesson to all, Who seek to rise but then do fall. Humility and respect go a long way, And can make or break a franchise any day.
Who really allowed her to be more than a coffee fetcher (Spielberg, Lucas)....seriously. who said....you know what Kathy, you bring me coffee everyday, so we are going to give you a multi billion dollar franchise to run because you know what your doing
This is a Bud Light moment, where a company will babble all day long about the spirit of their product while refusing to admit a sewer pipe is busted and flooding the place with filth.
Not if the Disney board of directors has anything to do with it. Destroying a free culture needs an icon to destroy, and they're doing it as best as they can without being too obvious.
No, you got her strategy wrong. Yes, she sorted out set problems, production logistics and made the tea for Spielberg and Lucas. But that was a means to an end. She waited until they were too old and too rich and no longer cared - then saw her chance and took control. That's not an accident. That's not her being creatively bankrupt. In her head, this is PRECISELY how these franchises SHOULD HAVE been run.
Can you imagine, what would happen if they came out and publicly apologized for the shit level on content theyve been producing? Then said that theyre restarting from scratch (disney era) ... I mean it would be quite a scandle sure but, It would be such a large positive movement. I know it will likely never happen but still, one can only hope for the best when it comes to the future
Remember guys evil can never create anything new only destroy what already exists. Givin enough time and with enough money down the drain eventually they will get fed up
Just because Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a personal friend of Kathleen Kennedy, doesn't mean she's getting any special treatment Thats why Im proud to announce shes the new main character of our billion dollar franchise!!!
I heard that Kathleen Kennedy was originally planning to tell everybody that Star wars was originally her idea all along and George Lucas merely stole it from her. She might have actually gotten away with it if her sequel trilogy had actually been the mega success she was hoping it would be.
It just bugs me to no end when I see someone doing an utterly horrendous job and not being fired!
She’s been repeatedly doing it since the sequels

Cannot agree more
True. Let this shit continue until everyone's so fed up with Disney that none of their 3D films work anymore. Only then will change happen.
The name Disney still reminds me of decades of beautiful cartoons and stories that colored my childhood. I wouldn't want it to fail because of the idiocy of one high level exec over a relatively short period of time, I'd like it to find its mojo and make great entertainment again.
After all, Disney has always been a kind of a deceptively appealing evil entertainment empire. Now the *Time of Revelation* is exposing the roots.
Maybe then people will stop focusing on hiring people for a narrative, and will start hiring people again for entertainment. Because if Disney ends up, becoming a thing of the past, that might get people to start thinking more clearly.
Unfortunately, she's not going anywhere. They will go down in flames defending her.
And that’s sad
So be it.
Good. Then those rights that Disney hold might actually go to someone capable. And perhaps some content might finally go into the public domain. Disney going away, or being divided is a good thing that should have happened years ago. Same goes with Microsoft and Google for instance, Amazon is another.
Well said!

Disney should have fired her when she said “There’s no source material” about a franchise that has a hundred books, comics and games to draw from
Yep. She straight up lied to people and tried to save face. This woman needs to go. She's ruining everything she touches.
She obviously never read anything. Yes. there were lots of good story lines to chose from.
The gaslighting just never ends with these people...
Yup,know this principle.😢
She's got a lot to live up to. Nobody did more to destroy the Lucas brands than George Lucas.
It's what her employers want. She's doing her job. They hate white men, so does she. She's the perfect employee for them.

“She was horrible at taking notes... but what she did know how to do was interrupt somebody in midsentence. We'd be pitching ideas back and forth, and Kathy-who was supposed to be writing these ideas down-suddenly put her pencil down and would say something like, "And what if he didn't get the girl, but instead he got the dog?"

By all rights, she should have been fired after losing all that sweet merch money on unsellable Star Wars toys. She knows where all the metaphorical (and maybe literal) bodies are buried in Hollywood, she won't leave unless she's carried out in a pine box.

Are you trying to tell me this ISN'T a viable corporate strategy? Must be racism!
I agree. The smug look on her face as she sat there next to George Lucas says it all. What a hag. She is ruining all these good IPs.
She can be smug all she wants. Lets compare her bank account to his.
Mad just got snubbed by Steven Spielberg at Indy 5 opening. She will be forced out soon. Pun intended.
True
Her leaving would be too little too late. The only thing that would save them would be to renounce all of the Disney era content
Kudos to you for actually pointing out what she is good at. It doesn't redeem her but it is fair play despite the ruin she left behind.
Yeah, I genuinely think she's a good person in absolutely the wrong position. Some folks just shouldn't ever be in charge, and she's one of them.
If she was all about female empowerment she’d actually give her female characters a good story.
Hey, how bout that new Acolyte show huh?? Looks preeeeetty original, huh!?!

Cancel Culture/Wokeism/Identity Politics in a nutshell
She's not capable of it but thinks she deserves the praise anyway, that's the whole problem.
Absolutely! Results would demonstrate her "girl power".
Kennedy /Disney went woke...Indy- Jones Goes-- BROKE. Disney Ruined Star Wars--Thanks to her...
This commentary was written with more sense and skill than most of the new Star Wars projects.
The mark was true... Nothing but bullseyes...
I refuse to believe she is doing anything other than intentionally vandalizing culture.
Would you be willing to support someone new coming in and producing films that are original and unique and not based on anything "iconic"?
I’d like to believe she’s just so incompetent that she genuinely only knows how to make the worst possible things ever. She’s so stupid and lacking knowledge that she actually thinks people like Abrams or Ryan Johnson are good directors and put them in charge of movies they can’t write and don’t even bother to try and organise them so the behind the scenes directorial process is a mess
She Ruined these films
Something is very wrong when a movie starring a talking raccoon has ten times the heart of any Star Wars movie made since Revenge of the Sith.
She has lost way more money than publicly announced.
Dozens of reshoots, projects started and then scrapped, hired directors got fired. absolute control over projects and so on.
She has unimaginable power over her bosses and George.
There is no other explanation.
Two possibilities she dirt on many in Disney and thus they can’t kick her out cause she could expose them
Two she has powerful outside connections that Disney knows they can’t mess with

KK's choices and guidance have cost Dizney investors 6-12 billion in potential profits.
She must really know where the bodies are buried to keep her position after that. Disney is broke and may lose HULU because they are out cash. If Indy Jones 5 were even a simi hit it would help the company a lot.
Disney should have fired KK after the disastrous Star Wars sequel trilogy.
It’s really sad, especially because all the merchandise is centred around the sequel trilogy now, and the animated shows are forgotten
Keep your marriage intact. Stop at "Last Crusade".
The Last Crusade is my least favorite of the four Indiana Jones movies. The Temple of Doom is my favorite.
To be fair, Temple of Doom is very divisive among fans. My brother and I didn't like it very much, despite having a few excellent action scenes. We both preferred Raiders and Last Crusade.
The Last Crusade is an epic masterpiece.
She was hand chosen by Lucas. So, what ever dirt she has to blackmail people into leaving her in place must have been collected early enough to force Lucas into his choice too.

Rise of Skywalker - destroy the story so bad you can't fix it
And Kathleen Kennedy still has a job
Let me guess before its over a perfect flawless thin plain brunette young woman is going to replace Jones.
How the hell did you guess that that's exactly what they'd do?
Except this time she’s older and not cute. We can’t have that sexist male gaze.
@@iyziejane what about merch? That's probably the golden egg of the Star Wars franchise.
@@jacekuntz5195 That's a good point, though I've heard the merch sales fell off after Force Awakens. I just looked up the 2022 net income for Mattel, which was about $400m. Not that specific to Star Wars, but gives us some idea of how big the toy industry is overall.

1: by her own choice
2: by dying
Even if 1 happens the next in line will have her on speed dail for her orders of the day.
And even if 2 happens it'll be too late
Also
3: by completely destroying the franchise.
@ksanbahlyngwa9960 no, she's obviously unfireable. Star wars Indiana Jones, and Williow. Tanked, tanked, and tanked all in her tenure. So she knows something that will utterly destroy disney and she can do wtf ever without consequence.
I appreciate the hard hitting and cogent criticism without the click-bait hyperbole.
*Padme Amidala* : "So this is how Lucasfilm dies. With whispers of boredom in French."
It's simple: Disney is quantity over quality
If you want Disney to succeed, she has to go. But Disney is not the company once was. It is only capable of making bland corporate DEI products that appeal to nobody. So, I'm quite happy to see KK drive Disney into the ground, and for Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm to be sold off to other studios and investors. Disney as it is now needs to go.
I dont fully agree on that. Marvel produced numerous amazing films under Disney, just think of Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy or Infinity War for example. There also were movies like Encanto or Coco.
Walt Disney has been recorded spinning in his grave at a rate of 30,000 rpm
Let KK stay on. It's too late anyway. Everything is destroyed. Let Disney burn itself to the ground together with the destroyed IPs.
This was the best description of what's been wrong with all these films and Disney as a whole. Some people are really good at fixing problems, but when put in charge they don't know what to do.
At this point I think they just keep her around to annoy the real fans.
The way Disney works, after Indy 5 failure, she will be promoted to in combination of tasks for being Lucasfilm head... now she will co-lead Marvel
They say physiognomy is not a science, but when I look at her face I already know what kind of woman she is.
It's unbelievable that a company, which made a sequel to "Tron" also made sequels to "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones".
For several years I had become a BIG Star Wars fan, and then Disney bought Star Wars. Force Awakens was ehhh at best, but Last Jedi was an absolute destruction of the SW lore. I said I was done that day and I haven't returned to anything related to Disney Star Wars
Star Wars is dead. It's time to move on.
In a world of creation and art,
One woman sought to play a part.
Arrogant and full of pride,
She set out to take the reins and ride.
A franchise once so bright and bold,
Now in her grasp, it soon grew cold.
Jealous of the creator's fame,
She sought to make it her own game.
But in her quest for glory and might,
She lost sight of what was right.
Firing those who dared to disagree,
She ruled with an iron decree.
And as the profits slowly fell,
She refused to listen and couldn't tell,
That her self-insert characters were just a ploy,
To make people love her and forget the joy.
Now the franchise lies in ruins and disarray,
Thanks to the woman who wouldn't stray.
From her path of ego and disdain,
She caused it all to go down the drain.
So let this be a lesson to all,
Who seek to rise but then do fall.
Humility and respect go a long way,
And can make or break a franchise any day.
Who really allowed her to be more than a coffee fetcher (Spielberg, Lucas)....seriously. who said....you know what Kathy, you bring me coffee everyday, so we are going to give you a multi billion dollar franchise to run because you know what your doing
She made sure the coffee was good and hot so this convinced them she was the future.
She was sucking the directors off.
“How many times does Kathleen Kennedy need to fail before Disney gets rid of her?”
Disney: Yes
This is a Bud Light moment, where a company will babble all day long about the spirit of their product while refusing to admit a sewer pipe is busted and flooding the place with filth.
Not if the Disney board of directors has anything to do with it. Destroying a free culture needs an icon to destroy, and they're doing it as best as they can without being too obvious.
She should have been canned a long time ago but Disney apparently must love losing money and destroying once great franchised
That's the thing, they must not be, right?? Baby Grogu merch must have bought her another 5 years or something...
Well yeah she made a hell of a coffee back in the day, and she should have remained in that position her whole career !
It's hard to imagine how you could take a franchise like Star Wars and not do well with it - but here we are
Can you imagine, what would happen if they came out and publicly apologized for the shit level on content theyve been producing? Then said that theyre restarting from scratch (disney era) ... I mean it would be quite a scandle sure but, It would be such a large positive movement.
I know it will likely never happen but still, one can only hope for the best when it comes to the future
The mainstream are willing participants. Fascism is hard.
Remember guys evil can never create anything new only destroy what already exists. Givin enough time and with enough money down the drain eventually they will get fed up
Well now that she has destroyed all of Lucasfilm and lost Disney billions there is not much left to destroy.
Just because Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a personal friend of Kathleen Kennedy, doesn't mean she's getting any special treatment
Thats why Im proud to announce shes the new main character of our billion dollar franchise!!!
Love this explanation. Digs into the why and what she was good at instead of going on and on about “woke”
Epstein flight logs...
💯
It’s too late. If this had happened after Rise of Skywalker things might still have been salvageable. But no longer.
I heard that Kathleen Kennedy was originally planning to tell everybody that Star wars was originally her idea all along and George Lucas merely stole it from her. She might have actually gotten away with it if her sequel trilogy had actually been the mega success she was hoping it would be.
Funny how the artists who work at ILM and Disney have to be good yet the writers and producers can be totally devoid of talent.
She is the treasure of Disney. We wish that Disney invests tens of billions into her projects.
single digit IQ post detected.
Never saw someone being so horrendous at her job and never get fired, and that applied 5 years ago for f....sake !
