  • Today I’ll be unboxing the newest version of the original Spyderco Slysz Bowie. This is a legendary design, brought to the modern EDC era via hardware and material upgrades, while maintaining its original design characteristics and aesthetics.
This is a Knifejoy exclusive model, released in limited quantitates. At the time of this video it is no longer available.
    Thanks for watching!

Love the review man! Great way to start the weekend! I got 1 for my sister and I agree it’s beautiful. Hopefully they make more and fingers crossed for a stonewashed blade lol

Thanks! Same here, not a big fan of the belt satin

I use an xhp shaman for work everyday and it's a beast. It's easy to sharpen and stay sharp for a really long time. Knifejoy did a second round of the bowie via email and I was lucky enough to get one. It comes tomorrow.

Spyderco makes so many better frame locks. The Advocate and Manta are two examples that fly completely under the radar.
I never saw the appeal of the original, but it offered more than this version.

I’ll share my full thoughts on the full review later on… but I agree, I also think there are better frame locks available..

Very cool looking knife. I'm going to get a para 3 someday I hope

Para 3 is an excellent choice!

The Slysz Bowie is most definitely overpriced, (and always has been), but I don’t care! LOVE the design, and I’m very thankful that KnifeJoy continues to invest significant capital to order multiple exclusive runs of this long discontinued model! 🤠
ETA: regarding the clip, I just received my RGT milled, contoured Ti Bluie clip, (specifically designed for this KJoy Bowie and matched to the blue anodization), and it’s a MASSIVE improvement. Absolutely looks like it belongs on the knife, and completely eliminates the “cheap” feel of that flimsy wire clip. I highly recommend the RGT. 👍

I’ve seen the clip, and it does look perfect for this knife! And I agree, it’s very cool that they continue to place orders. Clearly plenty of people love the design, and it’s very difficult to snag second hand (and wayyy overpriced). Thanks for watching!

Great review. The backspacer and clip at this price is what keeps me away from this otherwise beautiful knife.

The back spacer would keep me from buying this, the clip would keep me from buying this, made in Taiwan is almost acceptable but not for this price. It’s a very good knife but made in the USA is a must for me these days and that’s not a slight on folks who don’t see it my way.

What’s with all the satanic trash the knife came with?

I believe it’s a goat… for “greatest of all time” I guess? lol not too sure

It’s not “satanic trash”. It’s the outline of a blue goat because the Slysz Bowie is often referred to as the GOAT, at least among Spyderco knives… and KnifeJoy’s exclusive version is blue.
