  • We travel on an Embraer E145 with United Airlines from George Bush International Airport in Houston to Corpus Christi. These small pencil-like aircraft are sometimes call puddlejumpers, and it is appropriate in this case.

I would have liked to have viewed the rear restroom or lavatory in the back including the galley. Other than that it was an interesting video tape.

I recall catching a similar plane from Ottowa, Canada to Chicago. It was January & snow & ice were everywhere - I thought I had seen it all in Chicago & New York but Ottawa sure made me appreciate sunny Sydney, Australia. The plane was compact but comfortable but I'm sure the cockpit door was closed & locked (not long after 911). I had booked my 'trip of a lifetime' in a bedroom with the South West Chief on the same day as my flight to Chicago. Only to find out that due to ice all flights were grounded upon arrival at the Ottowa airport. So I had to wait anxiously for flights to resume as they had staff working on de-icing & removing snow from the tarmac. There was a large group of Canadians also waiting anxiously, as they were due to fly to Fort Lauderdale to join a wedding party on a Caribean cruise also on the same day. Eventually, all flights slowly returned & I got to experience my plane getting 'de-iced'. I also got to make that epic Amtrak train journey to LA. I was surprised when you said that there was limited storage for hand luggage when I saw what some people were carrying ahead of you! That is the first time I've seen a ramp instead of stairs used to board a plane - what a great idea for boarding etc.

If you look carefully at the lady in front Dennis, you'll see a small green tag. That indicates that she is doing a "gate check" of the bag. There's no way it would fit in either the overhead lockers or under the seat in front. I thought those ramps were pretty cool. That gate area is more like a bus terminal than an air terminal.
