Fantastic overview with the map outlining the locations of the various battles involving Montrose. You've spoilt us this past week with content just when I thought it'd be another 6 months before we heard from you again.
Funnily enough, I actually recorded this one way back in October last year but one thing after another got in the way, then I remembered I hadn't finished this one, glad I finally got round to finishing it! Unless I do anymore unscripted videos, it might not be till the end of the month/start of September before Tudor Rant 3 is done.
You should do a video on the life of Charles I, would like to see your perspective on his reign. Historian Mark Kishlansky had an interesting interpretation of him in his biography.
I have been thinking about doing a series looking at the motivations for why people supported the sides they did so 1st episode: Royalists, 2nd: Parliament, 3rd: Covenanters, 4th: Confederate Irish (ECW, not the ACW ones!). Would take a while to go through stuff though so if I ever do it, it will be a way off yet.
I'll have to see if I can get a copy of "The letters and speeches of Charles I", after all, there is no better way to analyse someone than be looking at their own words!
Waterloo 2 will be a little way off yet. I expect maybe September but I can't promise since I am currently working on Tudor Rant 3, and am currently fighting off a couple of copyright claims on other videos so want to wait till they are done before I upload anymore movie reviews.
@@The_Laughing_Cavalier alright. Now i realize that I didn't ask if Bismarck part 2 would also be coming out soon but I shall assume that it will also be a long way off. Am I correct in this?
Oh yeah, probably Christmas the rate things are going! I still have the rest of that Anne Boleyn episode to review from the Six Wives series as well, not to mention I really want to continue with the videos about Henry VIII's campaign in France!
@@The_Laughing_Cavalier the one bloody annoying thing about history is that there's so freaking much of it! I look forward to seeing your future endeavors sir.
Poor Montrose. Such a charismatic figure, and such astonishing victories. If he didn't have quite so many disadvantages beyond his control, I think he might well have won the war for Charles.
@@1IbramGaunt Definitely true, he even had his own company of dragoons at one point: wiki.bcw-project.org/scots-royalist/horse-regiments/capt-blackadder Apparently he survived the battle and was in command of a body of horse in the Castle of Fyvie afterwards at which point he disappears sadly.

Great history, always enjoy your content. Where is my Waterloo part 2? 😅

Great video! And thank you very much for the high praise for my Fathers book! (Stephen Maggs) Made his day when he saw this video today!
Thank you! Send my thanks to your father as well, I really enjoyed his book on Philiphaugh!
Raising an army of highlanders to aid a Stuart.
Having an early victory only to have a crushing defeat not long after.
Where have I heard this before!

Ah okay. What is your opinion on Charles I, tyrant or sympathetic king who simply couldn't adapt?
I take the more sympathetic approach myself (hence the pictures of Charles I all over my channel!)
Its hard to find a good bio on him, and I really don't like the historian Christopher the Bolshevik Hill approach to him.

First great video, really enjoyed it. Second, when is Waterloo part 2 coming out? (p.s. keep up the good work!)

Rory Stockley he was a bastard he killed woman and children
But... but... where's the anime? Hahaha. Great video
To be fair, an English Civil War anime would be pretty great!
@@The_Laughing_Cavalier and if there was seeing how they'd tackle those massacres of women and children would be... Interesting haha
@@The_Laughing_Cavalier and was there genuinely a guy called Blackadder there then, I love that if so 😂

I'm gonna be biased and say he won alot of battles because of the Gordon Highlanders (Basically the clan right where I am)
