Never, EVER let the boom or yard go past 90 degrees to the beam on a run! You’ll absolutely broach for sure. That’s the most dangerous point of sail on a balanced lug, and the most common mistake…after not reefing when you should. And whitecaps start at about 10-12 knots of wind, you were no where near 20 knots, even in gusts. Looks more like 6-8 knots…
