- This week we go through the making of what is sometimes referred to as a Boodles ring or a bubble ring. We have created our own version of this style. Making a ring using existing and sentimental jewellery with diamonds coming from the clients family etc We LOVE this type of project where we get to make something so full of meaning.
We have a few factors that the we cannot negotiate, practically, we have the customers finger size, the style they’re looking for and the materials they’ve provided. We get to make the magic happen that pulls all these elements together.
There’s a kind of organised randomness to a piece like this, there needs to be balance within imbalance. I loved it, the client loved it and we’d love to know what you think?
If you’re new here, welcome! We make jewellery making tutorial videos for jewellery enthusiasts, jewellers and anyone who is interested in the many ways things are made in this workshop.
I’ve been in the trade and working with jewellery for over thirty years now and we’ve started this channel to share knowledge and experience in the hopes that it helps anyone out there who is looking for this information. We post a video WEEKLY - so if you like this kind of thing, why not consider subscribing and hit the notification bell so that you never miss a beat.

Anyways! Thanks for tuning in this week and we (Damia and myself) hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend and we’ll see you on Sunday for another episode of Goldsmith’s Workshop Secrets.
A little note! I was using EASY solder (not platinum easy) on the shot with the binding wire. 🙏

That's one very unusual looking design. The temporary stone placement with beeswax is genius. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.
The pleasure is ours, happy to share and glad to hear you’ve taken something from it. Have a great week, thanks for that Gazz. 🤙
Best goldsmith 💎✨
That’s nice of you to say, thank you. 🙏
Lovely design and execution.
Thank you!
Fantastic, as always.
thank you!
This is like a fairytale Pirate 🏴☠️ treasure ring wow it’s stunning 🤩 you play music 🎶 I sing 🎤 well used to 😂 another fab vid guys ❤
A fellow musician, respect. Music is a big part of my life. Thanks for the great feedback on the video and the ring. 🌞
@@jacothejeweller it still is mine for more therapeutic reasons, it’s a huge relief for my anxiety, I just couldn’t take it anywhere due to awful stage freight unfortunately, but I still sing when no one’s there 😂💓
I will be watching this video over and over… I saw some techniques that you used to clean up your bezels that you made for your diamond to seat…
I just can’t believe that I never thought of it … I saw you using your centerpunch or them that looked like that…..And here I am using my long tip pliers to hold small bezel pieces to help me to clean them up… I’m definitely going to be replaying that part of your video over and over again until I have it figured out…
I loved the idea how you turned the two large diamonds to one large centerpiece … and I love that you flattened out each side then soldered them together to where the bezels were basically in a type “V”position…
What I did not see is you put any solder on the top side of the 3 rings… you said you did this for extra support… if you could describe it to me the placement spots of the solder then I can look for that in the video. or if you prefer, I will just have to look for myself in the video. Before I do this, did you cut that part of the video out?
Because it’ll drive me nuts, going over and over the video seeing the solder placements that you used on the top of the three rings to make the whole ring much stronger.
You also said you placed the solder to where I’m assuming the average person would not notice???
Anyway, always love watching your videos… I’m always learning something new. Thank you.
Hugs 🤗, Michelle
Hi Michelle, thanks for watching and so glad to hear you are picking up some tips too. I can’t recall if we filmed it, but by turning the ring upside down you can have a look where the points of contact is. I soldered each of those to give the ring maximum strength 💪🏻
@@jacothejeweller thanks I have been checking it out. I will look more closely. 🤗, Michelle
Quite stunning design! What is largest diamond size? 2k I’m guessing?🧐
Thank you and well spotted, it was 1.9ct 💎
