I gave birth at 41 wks + 3 days with my first, and it was a membrane sweep that helped kickstart labour. I’m now 40 wks + 3 days with my second and I’m feeling a bit disappointed! I’m not having any signs of labour. I’ve been doing all my preparations but very worried that I’d need to get induced. I guess we’re all learning about our bodies. Maybe I just give birth around 41 weeks. I feel my baby right in my pelvis and keep thinking that I will get into labour every night but still nothing hahah!
Edit: my first labour was 21 hours, and yesterday I went into labour spontaneously with my second, and active labour was all less than 3 hours. I pushed in the car and gave birth within 15 mins of arriving to hospital, with 2 pushes she was out. I was pleasantly surprised hahah

This sounds so much like my births! I carried my first 2 to until over 41 weeks. First labor was LONG (36 hrs total) and second was 4 hrs active labor lol. Expecting our third this year so I’m hoping it goes well and on the shorter side.

I was completely expecting all the things you said! My baby boy came a week early and was born within 13 minutes of arriving to our birth center! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Baby number 2 came a couple days after expected “due” date and just as fast as my first! I knew what to look for and made it to the birth center with about 45 minutes to spare! Haha for my third I am planning a home birth! Lol 😂

    This is SO accurate!!
My first birth almost 24hrs long after being induced at 43wks
2nd birth labor began naturally and so smooth! Only 12hrs 🥳
3rd birth was a nightmare 😂 Labor did start naturally at 42wk. Baby got in a bad position and labor lasted forever!

Baby no. 1 born at 38w2d. Entire labor took 24 hrs however I didn’t realize I was in full on labor until my midwife arrived and notified me I was 9.75cm dilated! I pushed him out within the next two hours. It was a GREAT labor. When the midwife was leaving my house I was asking her to come to my next birth! Ha! I’m 12 weeks postpartum.

I am 41+3, I noticed you don't have many videos about due dates or late term pregnancy. I surely hope I'll have my baby by the time you're able to make a video, but it could be great for future late term mamas! This has been a mental rollercoaster!

@@CajunStork Maybe some misconceptions about due dates, how they're calculated. The risks of going late term or on the flip side...the normalcy of going late term! People are so used to the 39 week induction so going anything over 40 weeks is so foreign to a lot of people!

This is so interesting. I’m due with baby #4 in a couple months and I’m planning a home birth this time. My previous three births have all been in the hospital and I was put on pitocin and had an epidural every time. It’s encouraging to know that baby #4 might be pretty easy as I don’t know what it’s like to labor naturally.

So much of this rings true for me! Baby #1 my longest and most drawn out birth, which almost ended in an emergency c section, though he was 3 days early. Baby #2 the most blessed and easy birth out of all my babies! I literally said right after my son was born, "That's it!? I could do that again!!!" Lol. My husband and I are currently expecting our 10th baby in a few months time and I am praying for and envisioning an easy productive birth! Can't wait to meet our baby girl! 💓

I love your video and have to say, I agree with everything you said from my midwife experience!! Like it's literally the truth: the first is the slowest, the second goes much faster and the third does whatever it wants 😂

I’m in my 9th pregnancy (2 of those have been miscarriages). So this will be my 7th full-term birth. My 3rd was fast! Then my 4th was gradual and so peaceful. 5th was extremely fast- 2 hours start to finish. My 6th ended up being an induction, but I think it would have been another precipitous birth had my body been able to go into labor naturally. One odd thing about my births is that they keep getting later and later. My first 3 were all born before their due dates. My last 3 were all at or over 41 weeks! The longest pregnancy was my 6th! I tell myself that my body just gets tougher each time 😂. I’m currently 25 weeks with this baby and imagining a pretty fast labor this time.

2nd was on due date, 12.5hrs labour
3rd (my BEST) was day before due date, 6hrs and fastest pushing
4th was 2 weeks overdue and I was induced, 6.5hrs from start of induction but only 4hrs of contractions
5th was also 42 weeks and induced, over 9hrs from time of induction to him coming out
I will add that all 5 were pain med free
    Currently 38 weeks with #6

However I also think being on the magnesium drip, painful cervical checks and being stressed probably slowed things down quite a bit. First baby was c-section at 37 weeks. Second baby was first vbac at 40+2 and took 23 hours from beginning to end.
Third baby was 39 weeks and took only 8 1/2 hrs. (Had a membrane sweep at 2pm on the 8th, started laboring by midnight until 8:49am on the 9th.)
Baby number 4 is now due in two'ish weeks, it's been about 6 years since my third was born.
In my situation, it's almost like my second birth was more like my first, and my third came out like the second, quick and with no complications. So now with having my fourth who knows! 😆 🤷‍♀️ guess we shall see.
But I am working closely with my midwife, I found out my platelets (which were low for my last two pregnancies) have dropped so low I cannot do a homebirth unless I can improve my numbers back up above 110, as of the beginning of August my platelets dropped to 75,000 😬 so I was wondering Kira if you would do a video on women who struggle with low platelets. If you have already and I haven't seen it yet I apologize. I enjoy your videos, thanks again!

Expecting my 7th.... apparently I'm more consistent than normal. #1 was about 16 hours and took an hour of pushing. All the rest were between 11 and 14 hours and took between 8 to 15 minutes of pushing. 3 of my 6 were born at the exact same gestation, with 4 of them all being born in my 38th week and the other 2 only a day or two off. My last three have been the exact same size at birth. We will see if this little lady is our wild card.

I didn't fit the mold! Just have to expect the unexpected.
1st Birth: went into labor 1 day before my EDD, labored for 4 hours and I only pushed for 15 minutes.
#2: 10 days post EDD, midwife expected a faster birth but it was 8 hours and I probably had to push for about an hour.
#3: PRECIPITOUS (do not recommend!). I also don't recommend sharing the story with just anyone. They will say you were "lucky". Precipitous births are not like a 6-12hr labor but shorter, they are 0-3 hours of violence. One contraction can be more intense than any contraction you'd have in regular labor and they come one on top of the other with virtually no breaks.
    #4: similar to #2
#5: easy all day labor that no one else besides me even noticed. I didn't say anything until I was near transition. Delivered a couple hours later. Pushed for 10 minutes.
#6: 6 hours of labor, 30-45 minutes of pushing.

I was barely 1cm and not really in labor with first, second was 3cm and in prodromal labor so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think I’ve ever really been in active labor so I’m leaning towards thinking this birth will basically be equivalent to if this were my first baby/pregnancy…. 😝
