I saw a hanging ad sign with 1985 on it so I don't remember hardly any of these bars I was there from 1970-1974 so alot of name changes and where are all the military hanging out at I didn't see hardly anyone on the streets? The streets use to be busy day and night I can almost smell the beer and cheap perfume. I saw one sign that said all beer was PHP50 and in the 70s we were paying PHP1.50 each but we only had one choice of beer. Good video.....cheers. :)
I went TDY to CRK many times in the 00's. A few of these places still existed when I was there. I'm married now with 3 kids and I live in Mindanao. It's nice to take a walk down memory lane.
These are some of the few pics of Flying Machine, and Maveric City to be found ! I did 2 tours at Clark in the 80's. When Pinatubo blew, and they closed Clark, It was exactly like a part of me had closed ! Anyway, good video, thanks for the look back. You picked some good music too !
Classic cars? Yes. I once saw out a 69 Charger that had a Nissan 4 banger turbo diesel and transmission it at a rebuild shop. I asked the filipino, " where is the engine? He said it was the thing under the firewall. You could have almost put a hot tub between the engine and the radiator.
was there 94, Top Hat and Cleopatra .. didn't see photos of those bars here. fun days.. cant believe nearly 30 years ago... saddens me how much time has passed..
Wow you are taking me back to 1984 the first time we went from okinawa to clark. I never thought I would see some of these joints again other than my own photos, I have a giant smile right now and a couple years remembering my young days in the P I. My favorite bar was the gold coast a 2nd floor joint with a balcony of course, the DMZ, I have gotten so ripped off of Red Horse beer, also the clarkton hotel and the sleezy , no air-condition yellow submarine, what a dump but what fun it all was.
I must make a correction on my post from yesterday, I went to angeles for the first time in Feb. 85.I know the date doesn't matter but you know military guys like to get stuff precise, also the word years was supposed to be years. Now I want to talk about two small Australian owned bars I didn't understand at the time, one was Manly Fred's bar, didn't know then Manly is a part of Australia,we used to go in there for a beer and do our ridiculous bodybuilding poses as a joke because the the place was Manly, the other and I don't remember anything about this place called St Trinian's, St Trinian's is some kind of school for bad girls in England or Australia
Matildas ,, Green Frog ,, Club X ,, Brown Derby,, Wagon Wheel ,, Crows Nest ,, Holy City Zoo,, Yellow Submarine,, 3rd Eye,, El Toros ,, sososososo many more ....we had 357 bars listed on the std list good times !!!!!!!
Somewhere I have one of our 132 column STD list we had on the bulletin board in the MatShop, we had to look at and i initial each month. We called it "The Clap List" it has 420 official bars on it. The number would vary each month. We would make note of the bars that were Off Limits and those were where we would go and sit outside and pick out a date. One night I was at an off limits bar off of fields down past Stardust somewhere and it was late, the girls was hungry, only a few customers for a week, i had a 3 day weekend. They were starvin. I asked them if they would barfine with me for food. They all agreed. All 12 girls got in my old ford and went home with me. My 2 maids had a fit, so I gave them $40 bucks and sent them to buy food and 2 of the bargirls went with them. The other 10 i asked to the bedroom and they chased me there. They all slept in my room. Next morning i had them all undressed again in my room, and called a couple buddies over. They couldn't believe it. My own orgy. And yes i got photos to prove it. God I wish I could do that again. A couple weeks later Cupid caught up to me at a friends Bday party where I met the most gorgeous filipina in my life, and im still in love with her. She is taller than any I had ever met and so sweet and I thot she was part european, (white horse and coke). She works hard and never lets grass grow under her feet. I couldn't believe she was not a model. I am so lucky to have her.
Fire Empire, anything went! Nipa Hut, never was, is, or will be, a place like that - the owner (now long gone) was a genius. Nicest girls I ever met were there. God when I die I wanta be reborn as a customer at the NIPA HUT. Over and over forever. Yes the nicest girls in the world they were. God bless the owner, may he rest in paradise.

Save for posterity. Back when central Luzon was a lazy, slow paced place with no traffic nor congestion. You could cruise around in a 1970s American muscle car and it felt like I was in the panhandle of Florida but with friendly Filipinos.

Banana Show
Great pics Sir!!
Save for posterity. Back when central Luzon was a lazy, slow paced place with no traffic nor congestion. You could cruise around in a 1970s American muscle car and it felt like I was in the panhandle of Florida but with friendly Filipinos.
Thank you!
Looked alot better then
5:18 what street is this?
It's Fields Avenue looking east towards what was MacArthur Highway....going away from what was main gate. Right now a McDonald's is at the end of this street on the right hand side.
I keep trying to write tears instead of years, I think I finally got it,
At 5:20 it looks like the beginning of walking street
It's Fields Avenue.
