John had come full circle. He was happy and at peace . In an interview with the BBC, he said I can walk down the street with no fear, I'm happy and whole. And then some sick selfish monster comes along and it's over. I love my brother John. May he be in death as he was in life. Powerful, beautiful, and all love, all the time. 😊

Lennon was a brilliant artist who shared his many talents with the world. Yes, he was far from being a perfect soul. A quick story, my best friend’s wife was dying from a brain tumor in 1979. My wife and I moved in to help care for her and their 2 children. We played music to help us get through this very hard time. I wrote John a letter about the horrible time. The day of her funeral, I went to check the mail. To my shock there was a post card from John. He drew a picture of the sky with the sun poking through the clouds and some raindrops falling on a new flower. I knew over time that he did similar drawings for others going through tough times. It is incredible to actually have John touch us in such a beautiful way. Such a beautiful soul he is. We loved him then and we still do. Thanks John

This is an incredible interview; perhaps the best I have ever heard with John. I give much of the credit to Lisa Robinson, who asks intellegent and thoughtful questions...the kind I always want to hear in interviews but rarely do. John is relaxed and wanting to talk, and the combination of the two coming together (no pun intended!) is really brilliant. My favorite moment is when he is talking about how he stopped playing music 5 years before, discovered there is this other life that is rich and satisfying, and so now the pressure was off. He knew he could live without it.

John Lennon was incredibly kind and nice to his fans he had total respect for them and was very open and honest. Something I really admired about John Lennon was he didn't talk down to people like in a patronising way and nor did Yoko. It sounds like he had a lot of early rejection in life. He had a very tough life in some ways. He wasn't pretentious at all.

The way some people talk about john lennon, you would think he was a serial killer or something lmao John was just human that made some mistakes. Yes john could have been a better father to julian but many people get divorced and start new families, not just john lennon. John was becoming a better father to julian and was keeping in contact with julian through the years. There is sooo many pictures of them together. And also the wife beater thing is highly exaggerated, it's getting tiring reading those damn comments. John hit cythia once as a young man, he apologized and never hit her again, cynthia herself in her book said it was only once. Why does no one mention ringo abusing his wife but only john gets singled out as this evil person. Ringo used to beat his wife barbara, ringo said this himself. There is so many untrue rumors about john lennon floating around these days, i even heard a rumour of john hitting julian which is the biggest bullshit story i haver heard. Was john perfect? No, of course not but he wasn't this monster some people are trying to paint him as these days

Well said. I agree with everything you wrote and I wish more people were this level headed and reasonable about John. He was very open about his shortcomings and trying to become a better person. I don't condone or excuse some of his awful actions but I respect that John was trying to be a better father and person towards the end of his life.

Only Paul for the Kampuchea (aka Cambodia) crisis charity concert in 79. None for CND in any year. And you think they'd turn up for some starving Africans - who always starved every year?
So, is that why George and Ringo never turned up for Live Aid? And McCartney could hardly even be bothered doing it, like he couldn't care less and only played one single song?

      Really?!
tell THAT to Pink Floyd and Bob Geldof!
      ONE SONG?! …You weren’t there
Live Aid was not as organised an event as TV-reruns & RUclips might have you believe -even Elvis C’ got to do a Beatles song & there’s honestly little comparison to Live Aid with anything up til then
Some things don’t neatly fall into place historically & it’s one thing for, say, Frankie Goes to Hollywood not appearing whilst Simple Minds get to play Song after Song after Song after Song after Song and another to suppose that the likes of the Beatles are gonna say “screw you” while Macca’s gonna say “I deign to merely play One Song, maybe…”
Live Aid was a once in a lifetime one-off & The nearest thing to live aid was Live8, more than ConcertForBangldesh where ‘Floyd were at levels of animosity with each other that few bands could ever imagine (I can’t imagine the Fab Four spending millions in court arguing over the sex of an inflatable pig!)
Anyway… We’re splitting hairs and talking about something that never could have happened -there was no ‘Threetles’ & there has never been another John
      YMMV

    • @apollomemories7399
      @apollomemories7399 2 года назад

@@BeesWaxMinder Have you any idea whatsoever as to what you're talking about here?
Firstly, Pink Floyd were not remotely involved in LiveAid. LiveAid was in 1985 and the only member of Pink Floyd who had any involvement was David Gilmour, who played support guitar during Bryan Ferry's set.
Secondly, what you're thinking of in terms of Pink Floyd and Bob Geldof was Live 8 in 2005.
You have confused LiveAid with Live 8.
      Good grief, you know nothing.
If you can't even grasp the basic facts then don't talk about it as you only drop your trousers.
Yes, one song was all Paul McCartney played.
Of course, I wasn't there - did you see the type of audiences that go to these things? Wild horses couldn't drag me to be anywhere near that.

Really appreciate this comment! Unfortunately in this modern age with social media has made people hypercritical, and self-righteous. John was a flawed individual , no doubt, and I truly can't excuse some of the terrible things he did but he was honest about most of his failings and trying to be a better person. By the end of his life he had become a loving father to Sean and was having a good relationship with Julian. It seems people are so quick to condemn him while acting like they're faultless beings, without realizing the complicated time he was brought up in.

Bizarre to think that John lived to 40, but Sean's nearly 50. But that's the passing of time.

When he talks you can tell he's trying so hard to make every word every moment relevant and everything he does relevant, he thought too much of himself ,he should have just relaxed and did what he does best in life which he kept running from

I love his positive side but when he got into the bashing of Beatles and Paul then I'm out. He was so positive at the end, like here. What a shame he didn't live longer. He was definitely one of the greatest artists of all time.

That's interesting, because George said John returned to Liverpool 2 days after he'd been deported. John says he stayed in Germany for two additional months with the house band. Which story is true? 🤔

With John the truth is usually somewhere in the middle….
It was only 10 days. Paul, George and Pete were deported on the 21st of November and John returned to Liverpool and kept himself to himself before catching up with the others on the 15th of December.
He says a number of time he didn’t write music or touch a guitar for 5 years, and yet there is no shortage of demos from this period…. In 1976 he even started writing a musical.
Even the lost weekend, he makes zero reference to Mae Pang, and yet he was seeing her regularly up to 1978, and he phoned her from South Africa when he visited in early 1980…. And he was fully aware Yoko was seeing Sam Havadtoy during this period

So being dead was always in his mind, I guess being an orphan is what he really couldn't overcome. Sounds also like John was an introvert that for necessity acted as an extrovert to survive as a musician..

I feel very bad for Julian and Cynthia but when I listen to this I realize that the beetle John was just twent two years old when he became a star he hadn't grown up and he was being pulled by the record companies what was expected plus they where on world tours it was into the studio anyone who is being told they are the greatest thing on earth when they haven't had tome to even grow up yet you can understand even Cynthia said that she just wanted a normal married life dad coming home getting his pipe and slippers making dinner while John bonded with his son Paul told her that's not John Lennon he had known his personality better than anyone at that time and he was a bastard but as he grew older he realized the important things in Julian's life and he tried to rectify it but the damage was done and he grew up with a very strong female influence so ending up with yoko was almost ment to happen he allowed her to control every aspect of his life he knew nothing of business so I'm sure she told him that Julian would be fairly cared for and he never doubted her

In my opinion, Yoko represented a complete and total opposite of who John was. But this was a complementary opposite - like an opposing weight that stabilizes a flywheel.
