Brian Matthew and Paul McCartney Six years after they called it a day, the Beatles were still in demand. Despite each member of the band being immersed in highly successful solo careers, the void of their existence as a band was still felt by fans across the globe. By the mid-'70s, rock had become big business, and the time was right, many seemed to think, for the Fab Four to come together once...

Lennon ruined Nilsson's voice on the Pussycats LP. I remember buying the Rock n Roll LP from my local newsagent for £2.99 in 1979. I was to be honest disappointed as especially with Sweet Little Sixteen and Do You Wanna Dance were like listening to disco music.

Lennon dabbled with communism at this time but it wasn't congruent with being a multi-millionaire rock star. Some of his views and opinions are patently naive & ignorant of the evils of communism & the malevolent intent of marxists who attempted to use him to get their message to the masses via sugar coating & masking their true goals.

I was lucky enough to pick up a pre-owned numbered copy super deluxe of the White Album for around £40 like new, it's now hard to get and are going for around £200+. Paul mentioned Chris Montez he was the geezer who sang 'Let's Dance' a big smash hit in 1962 [?].

1966 was pretty much at the point where they the Beatles are shifting from being teenage popstars to picking up a whole new audience. They drop the old audience who went with bands that we go with bands like the monkees etc. That’s the sign of a maturing music scene.

A relaxed interview at a good time in his life. Oh, if only Alma hadn't died, and if only he hadn't walked into that gallery 2 weeks later, if only he'd stayed with May Pang and if only someone hadn't paid Chapman to shoot him ... Since wars are virtual money fountains for certain people, talking about peace is obviously very dangerous in this world.

To all you PID Believers, watch the "James Paul McCartney" TV special 1973, (here on RUclips for everyone to see) at the 20 minutes mark there's a McCartney family get together in a Liverpool pub, they're all getting pissed (drunk) calling him Paul singing along with him and showering him with kisses! Now how is it that his Dad, aunties, uncles and cousins, can not see it's not their Paul the one they have grown up with, the one they have always known, but he's in fact an imposter named Billy! Come PID Believers please explain it

There are of course 3:12 pictures of Paul with his family soon after they claimed he «died». There is for instance a close picture of Paul with his father in Liverpool from 1967. Both are smiling and Paul is holding his arms around his happylooking dad. No need to say more.

Throughout his life Lennon had demonstrated and shown a mentality of that of a teenager. Never matured, never managed to grow up and was eternally craving for love and attention. Both he and McCartney came together for that one brief moment in time in which they blossomed and produced. Without McCartney this may not have happened. It was McCartney who drew out the nascent art Lennon who always thought he knew the answer to everything and would seldom, if ever, listen to others. He would listen to McCartney though. ONO was incidental to the downfall of the group. It was Lennon's egoism and destructiveness that brought that about. Look at the way he destroyed the lives of his family. Had a wife and son who adored him. Lennon showed no remorse, no attempt at remediation and no love, only violence. It was Lennon who said "All you need is love" and yet when the moment came, he couldn't handle it. He remained throughout his short life with an enormous chip on his shoulder that he was unable to shrug off. His band mates grew up and matured over time. Not so Lennon. His interviews, as here for example only serve to show a man in desperate need of love and attention. Listen to around 29:00 where they both assume they knew everything and the rest of the world was wrong and unjust. They then begin to lose themselves in words. Unable to see that the world owed them nothing

Good to see this here. I originally posted the audio of this interview about ten years ago, in two parts on small scale RUclips channel. So hopefully it gets more hits here. After the interview was transcribed (only partially and heavily edited) and published in the Red Mole newspaper the cassette tape it was on was tossed into the bin in the offices of the International Marxist Group. As it happened, a young IMG member (and decades later a friend of mine) Richard Hatcher retrieved the tape and subsequently had it enhanced by an AV technician at the University where he worked, and put onto a CD. It was this that he handed to me in 2013 and asked if I had any ideas what to do with it. I was told by Tariq Ali that the same IMG office had Jagger's hand written lyrics to Street Fighting Man on the noticeboard for a few years until someone also binned them. No-one back then had much idea of the historical or cultural, let alone financial, value of such ephemera...
