I accidentally came upon your videos and I'm amazed at what I have learned in applying your techniques it has been truly enlightening and enjoyable.
Thank you so much, many many years I have tried learning spanish and watching a few of your videos have really worked. I am now more in love with Spanish. I want to also learn French. I studied French and Spanish in England where I am originally from and now living in the USA I would get the looks when I would speak spanish and I became so insecure. Firstly it was a different kind of Spanish. Now I really do understand better.

It's amazing. I understood everything you said. I think it accounts for how familiar voices like yours or fluent English but native Spanish speakers can understand me in Spanish or I can understand you.

Thank you for your series, great help and inspiring to receive advice from an english speaker who now speaks spanish so well. Regarding pronunciation, any advice for the rolled r? I noticed you do it effortlessly, do you exhale much when rolling (almost like blowing)? I practice but don't know exactly what to practice. Thanks again!
I'm glad it's helpful! For rolling "r"s the tip that I've found most effective so far for teaching other people is to say "butter" several times in a row very fast and note the position of your tongue where it touches the roof of your mouth. Sometimes just doing this makes you flap your r automatically and that little flap is how we pronounce the single "r" in Spanish. To actually roll it for the double "rr" or for the "r" that begins a word, your tongue needs to be in that same spot, but you almost have to imagine flattening the first inch or so of your tongue against the roof of your mouth to do the roll. Blowing may help to do it initially so that you can feel it happen, but then when speaking, you won't find yourself blowing much at all - really just vibrating. I will have to do a video on this. And in reality, everyone who has not been able to roll their "r"s and then was able to later has had a different experience as to how they eventually did it. So sometimes it's a matter of trying a lot of different things. :)
