    This reminded me the days when I took German in high school. This is something they would have showed in class without the subtitles just to see if we could understand the situation was. Wunderbar!

    I was a flight attendant at this airline and flying on this particular plane LW very often. HAPAG LLOYD was the best holiday carrier beside LTU and CONDOR. The airport you see is Hannover HAJ .

    State of the art aircraft for its time and one of the nicer cabin interiors for an 1980s airplane. Thank-you very much for the upload!

    Every single late 80's west-german stereotype in a nutshell! I love it! Also, nice bird too, I came to watch it fly, and I stayed for the cheesy synth-pop sandals-with-socks hairy-armpit moustachey huge-glasses fun! Yay!

    I was looking for this video!
    I knew Hapag Lloyd tested right and left boarding with the A310.
    In the end it didn't work, or perhaps was too complicated to use on some airports.
    Thanks for reading my mind!

    This A310 is similar to the Boeing 767.
    And Airbus had an A300 Whisperjet too. In the early 80,s. That plane was almost identical to the 310. Just wondering why all the similar models?

      I am from Hanover, Germany. They did this on fully booked widebodied flights.
      Even Lufthansa did this while using B747 on domestic flights between Hanover-Frankfurt during high-peak season, the international computer fair CEBIT, when booking numbers were more than 300 on a single flight.
      It was amazing, boarding just took 15 mins. on a full 747. Unfortunately, they stopped using 747 on those flights in the late 1990´s, because they needed their Jumbos for long-range flights.

      TXnine7nine that's the first thing I thought when I saw that. I think the jetway on the right was just loading up supplies

    • @bundesautobahn7
      @bundesautobahn7 7 лет назад +1

      For what it's worth, I guess over the years, things have gotten standardised in terms of jetway operations (as in e.g. boarding from the left side and preferably use only the number 2 door up front on the left when possible when only one jetway is available). I recall from pictures that at JFK, they used to have jetways to board from the right as well for TWA aircraft in the 1960s or so. AMS also has overwing jetways that are used for specific airlines and aircraft.

    GE englines ! Did you notice that? What?? Has any Airbus product ever had GE engines?? Also, winglets?? I don't think so. Wasn't this the model and time period where the flight computer rammed the plane into the hill at the air show? Also some of those couples should get a room.

    • @rkan2
      @rkan2 7 лет назад

      BobEckert56 The AF flight was just a case of a controlled flight to terrain...

    • @BrokebackBob
      @BrokebackBob 7 лет назад

      rkan2 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Yeah, you could call it that. That software nightmare is taught in computer science classes now because it is so famous and could have been very deadly in the right circumstances. The company that was responsible for the megabug went belly up.

    • @rkan2
      @rkan2 7 лет назад

      Eh.. There was even a case by Finnair (AY-367), which was investigated by accident investigation. In that case the aircraft speed was allowed to get to the point where Alpha Floor protection activated Go around power, thus preventing an actual stall. Thus everything worked as designed. If you check the case you are referring to (AF296), you will note that the Alpha Floor protection was disabled intentionally for the display. There is nothing to educate in regards to computer science, when a crew is making flawed decisions in the flight planning phase.

    • @BrokebackBob
      @BrokebackBob 7 лет назад

      rkan2 Then call it an unaccounted for serious inadequacy. The software did not override the manual setting (stupid pilot) as the software company claimed it should have but Airbus had requested that the software not override the manual setting. This entire incident is taught at the college level to programmers to never design systems which can be overridden such that people are placed in immediate danger if the software is capable of averting said danger.

    • @pinkdispatcher
      @pinkdispatcher 7 лет назад

      At those low altitudes the software was not supposed to activate Alpha Floor (if you are talking Habsheim), because it was basically in landing configuration close to the ground. Otherwise you would have the high-angle-of-attack protection prevent every landing. So disabling the system by the captain was irrelevant except to demonstrate his recklessness.
      Of course the A310 had wingtip fences (not winglets, if you want to split hairs), just a bit smaller than the A320-200's. (The original A320-100 didn't have them, but only a handful were built.)
      The A310 is also that rare beast, a short-to-midrange widebody. It was Airbus's first highly automated aircraft.

  • @aaronchandler2380
    @aaronchandler2380 7 лет назад

    I am pretty sure that A310-200's did not have winglets.

    • @aaronchandler2380
      @aaronchandler2380 7 лет назад +1

      interesting,very interesting ... vy vould d A310-200 have d -300 winglets? Ve have vays of finding this information...

    • @pinkdispatcher
      @pinkdispatcher 7 лет назад

      Maybe you're confusing it with the A320-100, which didn't have "wingtip devices" to use the most generic term.
      EDIT: turns out early A310s didn't have them, either.

    • @aaronchandler2380
      @aaronchandler2380 7 лет назад

      The A310-200's flown by most airlines did not have the winglets. All A320's had winglets. The A310-300 had winglets just like this -200 flown by Hapag-Lloyd. I wonder why? mystery.

    • @imeakdo7
      @imeakdo7 7 лет назад +1

    Maybe anglophones won't notice, but the dialogue is horrible. It's badly scripted, very stilted, and also poorly lip-synched German-to-German. Very cringe-worthy. But I guess a lot of German advertising at the time was like that.
