Please visit Gate City Foundation Drainage. Why I do not use corrugated pipe. I am sure that the owner will have a conversation with you after a good heavy rain.

It’s been in for 8 months with many of major rain events and I have not had any callbacks
I think I’ll just continue to do it the way I am for I see no reason to change

Don’t take me as rude. We build drains very similarly. He does use some techniques that are different than mine and some are very good ideas.
If I start to have trouble with my drains in the future I’ll definitely look around and see what I can change and do better.
      Thank you for your input

Ken check out french drain main. He uses corrugated and has a bit different philosophy than gate city. He's more about void space which allows more water flow. So in a french drain trench he'll run 3 or 4, 4" corrugated pipes to have the largest void inside the trench to move the most water. If tying downspouts into it, you run the downspout line in the lowest pipe in the trench.

@@NealORussa Neal, I understand his methods however what is going to keep the drain clear of obstructions? Water can leak right out of the side of the pipe! If he is using fabric how is water going to get into the pipe? If you took a say 15 foot section of his pipe and 15 foot of Gate Cityite's pipe and put a gallon of water through them I will guarantee that the smooth pipe will outflow the corrugated pipe. Debris will collect in the corrugated pipe. The smooth pipe is self cleaning. I'm not buying his method. Thank you for the information .Ken

Where does the water go to after it reaches the end of the trench by the tree? Is there natural fall from there or does it just terminate there and fill the trench with water?

There is some natural fall at the end of our trench

Why would you want to collect the water right next to the foundation? When the pipe fails the water will be up against the house VS if you off set it 5-10 ft and graded the dirt away from the house, even when the pipe fails, the water is away from the foundation and wont be an immidiate problem. (I say when the pipe fails, becuase it always will, might be 6months or 6 years but it will fail)
On the topic of corrugated vs PVC, I would have to agree that PVC is far supperior.

If you put it 10 Feet away from the house you you would have to regrade the whole yard to the drain.
If not you would still have 600 ft.² that would drain off next to the house. So you still have standing water by the foundation in large rains.
The system I installed has drop and will carry every last bit of water out within minutes of the rain
I will never believe PVC is superior. Mostly because I have pulled up systems the guys put in with pvc and they were still clogged.
I’m not worried about my system failing. I’ve installed many, many systems like this I never had to revisit them
