His voice will forever ring loudly and clearly in our memories. There will never be another one like Divine King, Rev. Ralph J. Boyd. Thank God for this illuminated mind coming to this earth and specifically, to Detroit.
OH MY GOD WHAT A TIME, I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS CHURCH SINCE THE 60'S AND THEY STILL HAVE SERVICE LIKE THIS IN DETROIT MICHIGAN EVERY SUNDAY MORNING, THE HAVE THE BEST HAMMOND B3 ORGAN IN THE COUNTRY!! WHAT A BLESSING TO HAVE UNIVERSAL IN OUR CITY!!!!
Apostle K Anthony Greene, Det. As young musician who grew up around the corner, Rev. Boyd allow the younger talent to play his Hammond RT3 in service. It was not the B3. Last time I was at the Kingdom, that organ is still going!
OMG this took me back to when I first got saved in middle school.I would listen to the broadcast every Sunday evening .

Spiritual Church’N all Sunday night!!!
I grew up in this church. The broadcast was at midnight and folks came from everywhere to hear the spiritual church praise. They talked about us (other religions) like a dog because we believed in candles and prophesy but today people pay for what was freely there. No one has ever been able to duplicate that spiritual sound or Rev. Boyd. So many wonderful memories! The Rev. Edith Johnson that was mentioned in the announcements is my grandmother.
Paris Freeman I remember you Paris, I used to play for Rev. Lucille Fisher and pastor Edith used to fellowship with us.

Hi there. Just looking through the comments. I’ve often hear Rev Edith Johnson was Rev Boyd’s Assistant Pastor at one time. Would have any pictures or audio tapes of Rev. Johnson. I’d love to see/hear her in ministry. When did she past?
Also was her husband name Bishop S.T. Johnson?

@@versacebouy86 No, ST Johnson was not her husband but he and is wife were good friends and the churches fellowshipped often. Her husband was Jeff Johnson, the Tuesday number man at midnight on WJLB, or WCHB, I can't remember which one. Unfortunately, family issues caused her home to be vandalized and most of her valuables, tapes and recordings was destroyed. My grandmother passed September 27, 2007, I was right by her side. My mother, her only daughter passed September 26, 1993. My grandmother was at Rev. Ralph Boyd's funeral and yes, she was his assistant pastors during the start of his ministry.

oh yes.... I was introduced to Universal by one of the younger musicians from Cleveland OH, I fell in love with the Spiritual Church

I go to this church where Rev. Naomi Gatilyn is the pastor since Rev Boyd pasted in 2006 we've been doin the same thang since not the braodcast but where doin good

@versacebouy86: Yes, I most definitely love the Ward Singers. I didn't know that Malvilyn came out of Universal; I do know of another church, which I can't remember right now. Another Ward Singer, Mildred Means, came out of the Church of Our Prayer w/ Rev. Lofton. We know that our paths lead into various directions, but it's amazing how they manage to intertwine. Thanks again for sharing! I've heard much about how services were at Universal. Now, I can "see" for myself!

What year was this? I probably wasn’t even born yet lol, but I do remember the late night services, Sealing Services, etc.. as a little girl laying on the church pews next to my mom.. I miss these days
