I'm a big vintage fan. Always wanted a twin. Also I big Clapton fan, I read that he bought his first Tweed Twin (low power) in the early 80's ..later a 1958 high power Twin. Because he was using marshall jcm800's Soldano SLO..100watts. Went through a period in the 80s of multiple effects.high gain sounds. And after buying a twin. He said it reminded him of his marshall combo ( bluesbreaker) amp. Very warm and thick. And inspired him him to bring back more traditional blues to his stage shows
@@emeraldcityguitars I know I'm late to the party but damn was that amp sweet. Its only the second time I have heard one and I have never heard a Tele that sounded so sweet. Curious as to what the value of that tweed is.
Sounds fantastic. I've got the Joe B. reissue, and it is insane. On a side note, Joe also plays the 'Hi-Power Twin' made by Kendrick amps in Texas...it's called the 4212 model, and it's dead-nutz as good as a real '59. So good, in fact, that Joe B recorded with them! If you cannot get a real one, give Kendrick amps a call and he'll build you one! Gerald Weber is the Fender GOD on this planet...the absolute guru of Fender amps.
Emerald City Guitars thanks my dad bought it new and used it for about 10 years till he retired from performing with numerous bands in the country venue. I just don't know the function. It's all original inside sounds great to me but I'm not into a lot of effects anyways.
You would assume right? However, I've seen stranger things during this era... If you want to see some real strange anomalies from 50's Fender check out Songbird Museum...
Sounds fantastic! Is the bridge pickup on that Tele getting a touch micro-phonic in it's old age? You didn't switch to it as far as I could see, only both together, and there were some background feedback notes going on. Plus no midrange wound in on the amp ;-) :-)
hahah Exactly.. It's super hot and would have squealed being that close at that volume... It sounds amazing though when it's done properly.. I'll try to demonstrate that soon. Thanks for watching Gary!
They made a 185 watt twin as well, but it didn’t go over very well. They’re just headroom machines, made for loud totally clean tones, which have their place but nothing like a tweed breaking up.
You should let loose on the playing like this more often. On other demos it seems forced or more contained. This you could tell you were having fun and it really let the amp be heard. Great demo. What an amp
Very cool amp. Amazing condition. Would love to hear a Les Paul Junior, (P90), cranked through it! Only thing that bugs me is when people shake their guitar to get vibrato. Vibrato's in your fingers, bro.
Jon Anderson People play however they want to. Should Django have not attempted playing because his hand disability would’ve kept him from using perfect traditional methods?
Unfortunately no average player can afford stuff like this. Thats multiple tens of thousands of dollars worth. Id say 60+ grand for the pair probably more.
"I don't know, but I'm calling it stock". Wonder what the price difference is between don't know and stock? Did the price go up because it now has Joe B's drool stains all over it now? Sorry just bustin your chops.
I used to think the kids at Emerald City just couldn't play old school gear and make it sound good, but I now think whoever records this stuff uses the wrong mic - it is too hi-fi sounding and accentuates too many of the janky frequencies.
I'm fortunate enough to oun a 59 twin that my dad bought new. It hasn't been worked on internal you that I know of.it does not do power tube set however.cars need tires too right. The handle has been replaced . it is a fender handle units not the same leather one like the original. Casters were added to the bottom so it could been ruled instead of haveing to carry or slide it everywhere. @@Samana009 for better or worse they did and because jensen couldnt make a speaker to handle this amp's power, fender halted production of the twin in early 1960 when the vibrasonic was the temporary flagship amp- and note the vibrasonic speaker was not jensen but JBL. After that point you see fender trying new speaker companies oxford, jbl, CTS and still jensen. The high power twin was ahead of its time, pushing the envelope of speaker technology of the 1950s
What a great find - Fantastic playing as well Trevor!
Fender he shakes the neck too much 🙄
Ari Koenig it’s got a fixed bridge. You gotta squeeze the juju from the neck when you don’t have a trem. Come on man.
@@luthiervandros imagine thinking someone is bad because they shake the neck............
So when did Bonamassa come and pick it up? Lol

if you run euro tubes in an original nothing can touch it. hands down best amp you can own. if you ever plug into one you will get it
05:05 tungsram (tungsteen-wolfram, hungary) tubes?
Wow impressive shape! Especially the handle ,it was taken care of very well
I visited these guys in 2013 when I was in Seattle. Nice family owned place, friendly staff, great selection of cool gear.
Amazing you can play both configurations. Well done. All the last amp demos you've played on have been excellent
Dream of owning one but got an Amalgam Tonex capture runnin pretty close in the meantime- awesome playing btw 🌟🎸
Sweet sound . The tele and the tweed are top notch. Great playing too.
They are only RARE because Keith Richards has a warehouse full of them
4:26 The face of pure tone ecstasy, great playing man !
Beautiful! Next time please also accommodate us folk of the humbucker persuasion. Thanks
Ahhh!! we'll make a part 2!
:)
Great video! Love your channel! ❤️
Is it grounded properly?
Gorgoeus amp and fantastic playing!
Sounds unreal
I got mine when my dad passed away.tell me all about the features please in a future video.
we'll do a follow up on this one! Had to squeeze a quick vid in before we closed!!

kimbiwa what do you mean?
Google the information, stupid.
This brother must've been deaf, cranking a Twin to get this much overdrive. Killer demo!
Sounds amazing
Great playing
What a introduction and sound😊
And a Sweet Lefty Telecaster, what a combo!
How much did the hi power Twin end up going for?

man, that sound is so inspiring
wheres the treble pickup position
I agree with Joe B that it's probably a replaced speaker. Sounds good!

Baddass man! Thanks for the upload on this classic sleeper
That is fantastical!
OK, playing not just any black guard Tele - a clean ass '52.....through a '58/'59 HP Twin...? That would be a good day at work!!
Yall the best man!!!
How are you asking for the amp?
I went through so many amps and I’ll basically settle for any OG tweed circuit over any other
that thing buzzes louder than the note

Emerald City Guitars wonderful guitar and amplifier though 😊
Was wondering! That tele sounded so sweet, but the whole time I’m thinking, ‘alright let’s flip to the bridge baby’
Are you selling this amp? If so how much?
That amp sounds amazing, great playing too!
Probably just a touch louder than a champ... just a touch... lol
Brilliant match a telecaster sounds perfect, vintage stuff it's just the best
Thanks so much!
It totally reminds me of my hand wired (by my dad!) 59 tweed Champ clone.
the speakers don't match... but take our word it's 100% original, if not original, it almost is so... anyway caps are fine from the 50s?
It has that “swirl”! 👍🎸
Warm an nice like Butterscotch ,Sweet
Twin Tweed is a tongue twister?
How much did it sell for?
20,000
They are 35k now in average condition
The amp is really very nice. Try running it with a pair of Klipsh Heritage speakers or a paair of Bose 901. Unbelievable ... 8:16
This is a guitar amplifier, not a hi-fi stereo. Usually people don't remove 50's Jensen's from a tweed.
Great sound ..
think you'll find the Jensen P12N's are rated at 50 watts not 25
New ones are, old ones are probably not even 25
DannyHusk they’re like 18-20 watts
Left handed 52 tele? Ik jimi used strats. But Didn't he use right handed guitars, because there was no left handed ones lol?
If I owned that amp i would quit my job and stay home with it all day.
Keep practicing you’ll get there someday!
Beautiful.
And who said tele neck pickups are useless? (also may want to look into that rattling sound all throughout the video, it's really distracting).
there is a even higher version in the silver face with master volume i had one it is 135 rms super heavy with 12" magnates

Wow.
You spoke to Bonamassa about it and he DIDN'T buy it??? He must be ill...

These Noises beside would make me freak out, Legend high, Quality low...sorry, but that's my Opinion.
JB BOUGHT IT YET? LOLOLOL
lots of noise hmmmmmm maybe a good tech could fix this problem... nice playing and great amp!
Sounds like there's a loose cone issue with that speaker guys.
i agree it sounded fluffyish on the breakup , and there was a fair bit of background hum , but that could well have been the single coils !

80w amp pushing 25w speakers. Better have a fire extinguisher on standby.
I want to hear Johnny Thunders give this amp. Too bad he’s deceased.
Don't like the hum. It over powers the volume and sound while you play! Is that fixable???
Our building has extremely old electricity and really emphasizes the buzz... We are working on getting this fixed up asap!
Thank you!
