    Hey!! Went on this exact same cruise! Didn't get off at Port Vila as we wanted some more days on the ship. Did all of your activities work out alright? We were delayed by a few hours if I remember correctly due to the medical emergency. Very interesting to see what Vanuatu had to offer! We did get off at New Caledonia (after that amazing isle, the views were so nice!) and went on the Chou Chou Train for a small sight seeing tour and stopped at Lemon Bay for a few hours. Overall very fun cruise, and nice to (sort of) relive it!

    Hi, all these activities are including in the basic plan or you guys pay additional? Thanks.

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  10 месяцев назад

      Majority of the activities are free such as the rock climbing, roller skating, bumper cars. We did however purchase the key which allows special times for these activities for key members only which makes it have hardly any line. The public bumper cars session was so full but since we had the key, we were allowed to stay on the bumper cars every round until we wanted to get out.

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  10 месяцев назад

      The indoor sky diving one we also had a private session for key members but I don’t know if the general public get a free session.

      Thanks. I know the dodgem cars are free. They have session times but because I got the key, I was able to have our own private times for dodgem cars and ifly for key members only. I’m not sure if non key members have to pay for the ifly.

    What floor was your room? Is level 13 too noisy?

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +1

      Sorry, not sure if level 13 would be too noisy. We were on level 6 which is the lowest level for a balcony room. The rooms however do have decent sound isolation, especially when you properly close the balcony door. We originally booked for a window room where they would choose the room for us, but they upgraded us to an obstructed balcony room.

    Did you book that excursion at port Villa? That nice lagoon?

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +1

      So we went into Port Vila with nothing booked. We were just winging it. The first night we got to Port Vila, everyone just went to the fire show as everything else is closed. That needed booking if you wanted seats inside. We took a small shuttle bus with other people to save money. It came to $15 per person. The day we went to blue lagoon, we got to the port and got a taxi. We negotiated from $250 to $100aud for him to take us to blue lagoon. Blue lagoon does not need booking, it was just $20aud for entry. He waited for about an hour and then took us to the city where we did our shopping. We paid him at the end so that way he waiting for us at blue lagoon. We then took a $5aud shuttle bus from the city that takes us back to the boat. There are a bunch of shuttle buses around that take people back to the boat from the city.

    Thank you for the video. I have four questions
    1. Do you need a special SIM card to use your phones in Noumea and Vanuatu?
    2. When purchasing items in the ports, do you need CFP or can you Australian dollars?
    3. Do you need to speak and understand French to communicate with people in the ports or do they speak English ?
    4. On the boat are the prices for drinks, food, activities, etc in AUD or USD

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +1

      Hi Tara.
      1. My girlfriend used her everyday SIM card (Vodafone) and she just pays an extra $5 a day to use her plan overseas. It only worked in Vanuatu but not Noumea however there were cafes and bars with free wife there.
      2. In Vanuatu, you can bring their currency but we only used AUD as all the shops and taxis use AUD. For noumea, you’ll need their currency. We got money out at an ATM with our debit cards. However the hop on hop off bus we went on accepted AUD $15

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +1

      3. Vanuatu speaks English and Noumea they speak French but many people do speak English and can understand you.
      4. Everything on the cruise displays USD for prices. You’ll pay using your sea pass which will be connected to your card

    My mum and I are going on this cruise on Sunday (4 days away!!) and we are curious about how you planned your shore excursions.
    We have been given the advice not to book with Royal Caribbean themselves and find a hop-on-and-off bus (like you did in Noumea) or driver at each destination. Just wondering what you did at the other 2 locations: what did you look for when off the ship?
    Thankyou for a sneak peak of our holiday!!

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +3

      So we only went to Port Villa and Noumea. Mystery Island was cancelled when we got on the boat so we had another day at sea instead. In Port Villa, as soon as you get to the port and at the gate, the taxi/shuttle bus drivers will be on you. They will try to quote you a high price (aud) but you can definitely negotiate. Definitely do not book with Royal tours as this is so much more expensive and doing tours from the locals has a better experience, cheaper and it really helps the locals out as this is there main source of income.
      First night ,we went to the fire show at the beach bar which we shared a shuttle bus with a family we just met at the port. It made it cheaper costing us $15aud per person for going there and back where we paid at the end. The next day my girlfriend and I took a taxi where we wanted to just go to the blue lagoon for an hour and then back to the city for shopping. The blue lagoon was $20aud per person for entry. He quoted us $250aud in total for him to take us there where he would wait and then take us back to the city. We negotiated it down to $100 in total where we paid at the end to ensure he doesn't leave us at the lagoon. After we did our shopping it was almost time to go back on to the cruise ship so there are a lot of shuttle buses driving around the city searching for people to hop on for $5aud per person. With the taxis, you can negotiate the price where the driver will take you to the destinations you like where he/she will wait for you.
      In Noumea we just did the $15aud per person shuttle bus as we didn't have much planned to do but wanted to see the main stops so this was a good and cheap option.

      Did u pay driver by AU cash or local currency?

  • @lindavo888
    @lindavo888 Год назад +2

    What currency did you need in the last port?

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад +1

      Port Vila you can use AUD for pretty much everything including duty free shopping. (Very cheap). Noumea, New Caledonia we used Pacific Franc (CFP) where we used our Visa debit cards at one of the local atm to get cash out. You could also get currency exchange near the port which would be easier as some of the atm’s didn’t accept our card. The hop on/hop off bus we did that took us around Noumea was only $15aud and some of the souvenirs near the port accepted aud but everywhere else needed Pacific Franc. Hope this helps

    How did you find the roughness on the Ovation? I went to Vanuatu years ago on a P&O boat and it was really rocky. That's the only things that stopping me from booking a family trip.

    • @DaysWithDylan
      @DaysWithDylan  Год назад

      Since ovation of the seas is the biggest cruise ship to port in Sydney, it’s less rocky. I’ve been on P&O and because it’s smaller, you definitely feel it a bit more. What I also did was get a room on the middle of the ship on a lower deck to feel less motion so I didn’t get sick at all and I’m bad with sea sickness.
