I was impressed that you had taken the time to go through all these callers available, the information that was collected via research and electronic equipment was very informative and helpful in the decision making process of which caller to select to gain best result. Thank you and look forward to see your successes using selected callers
Great video. Helped me understand all the different calls out there, what they should sound like and thier relative volume. Thanks for spending the time to make this video.
Thanks for the video. I am very impressed with your comprehensive scientific testings. It was very educational for me to hear all different fox whistles and their calculated results and your well balanced comments on each of them. A great experiment.
You have put a lot of knowledge and work into this comparison. I am thankful that you did. It's amazing the differences we see and hear when you use the computer and oscilloscope . Thanks for this video, very interesting. Cheers.
Some great calls. I have a few different calls for different situations . Here in Ireland we use reed for close up and hello type for longer ranges or windy nights.
I like your approach to your subject. You seem to make nearly every subject you cover interesting. The science is explained in a way most would understand. Well done. Always enjoyed your channel. Keep up the good work.. PJ..
I've always liked the button whistle for being the least intrusive to carry. It's comfortable around the neck and I've called in thousands of foxes with them. The reed calls are definitely designed to mimic a Hare (or Jack Rabbit). I use a Scotch Predator Call a fair bit. If there's not many rabbits in the area the young foxes rarely respond to it, having never dined on rabbit, I suppose. But the Predator Call always gets their attention. On the many properties I hunt, I get the same results using them on the farm dogs. They'll look to a whistle but a predator call always seems to excite them. Now if only I could find one that's smaller. If I'm shooting from a vehicle it's OK, but when on foot, I remove the bellows off it and just blow through it. It also does a great job calling in Hares and Crows. Fantastic comparison vid, mate! Love your work!
I found that the Silva whistle and the Apex whistle work best were I hunt and the Predator call. Also bird call's on my foxpro, I never had and luck with the Best Fox Call. Bird calls are really good for foxes
I agree Max, they are the only two commercial ones I'd recommend. What bird calls have you had luck with? I was thinking of trying to use a sound lure for trapping if only to experiment, I put together a solar powered caller the other day.
Love your videos mate! Interesting, and you don't dumb it down. You're like the aussie Taofledermaus, but with better info-graphics. Keep up the good work mate.
I've been using a button whistle for many years but your right that Apex whistle does sound VERY good indeed !! I'd love to try it out at my mates property next trip, well done great vid. Seeya Rob
The pipe whistle looks very interesting. A diy guide would be great, at a guess it is pinched off in a vice and hole drilled, I would be great to find out the dimensions (hole size and placing). Thanks for the vid.
Excellent vid. and being an amateur radio operator DB gain is a wonder;s thing. The secret for a shooter whistling is that he doesnt become breathless, as heavy breathing effects accuracy, Enjoyed your vid immensely. Well Pete
Mate I've been waiting so long for one of you're videos I even check once a week I have been wondering for a while what the db results would be like between the best fox and the silver fox and clearly silver fox is the go you're videos always astound me and I learn lots from them I made a tenter field whistle worked great till I lost it after shooting a few foxes the cocky said what the heck is that bloody thing showed him told him all about it and even pulled in a few foxes I have tried to make a new one but i can't seem to make another one the same but after this video I am hanging to buy a new silver fox whistle
Funny, I went all through your stuff then got a nice big video the day after. cheers for the give away, good luck everyone. can't believe you can get foxes to do that in the daytime.
Bugger me ! This would have to be the most informative / educational video I have ever seen on fox whistles. You have answered about thirty of my question in one hit ! I thank-you for your diligence and generosity Sir. Now, I have just one other question for you ......... Why in Gods name, is the "distressed woodpecker" call, the most effective year round sound on my Foxpro, here in Australia ? Cheers.
great video, keep them coming! Always helpful and interesting! Love hunting foxes, waiting patiently for the foxes to start coming to the whistle after the breeding season finishes!
Interesting comparison but I think you are overanalysing it. They all work. Even sucking air through pursed lips works. What is more important is the ability to make the call/whistle speak "fox" language. You need to make them say "I'm injured, I'm trapped, I'm distressed, I'm in mortal danger". The more frantic the sound, the better. That's when the foxes really take an interest.
The only issue I have is that some of these whistles are not meant to sound like rabbits, but have been based off them. Also whistling in areas without rabbits with some of these whistles still brings in foxes. So maybe it doesn't need to sound like a rabbit. Great video though. Watched this one a few times
I have the best reed caller. can't say I've had any success with it, but that said, I can't compare it to anything. go out, whistle, don't see a Fox, not sure if there's no foxes around or whistle doesn't work :S thanks for the video mate. great to see :)
None of the whistles compare to a jam tin lid bent like the above but with a 2 " nail hole punched through. Somehow the jagged edges of the nail hole really imitate the rabbit squeal. I think it's the rough edges. Drilling the holes loses that effect.
I've got the Best Fox Call tenterfield which bagged me my first fox. Was the Best Fox Reed hard to use? Its the first time I've heard it and now i'm considering giving it a whirl.
Just came back to get the low down on a fox whistle to buy. We miss you mate.
Why did he stop his vids?

Reg Sparkes Thank you for your hard work, you have got us all thinking, the outback looks beautiful, I miss it terribly!
Some great calls. I have a few different calls for different situations . Here in Ireland we use reed for close up and hello type for longer ranges or windy nights.
It was interesting which ones caused the dog to bark. I imagine those calls would work on coyote or anything that eats wabbits.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS They are all working dogs, used to taking commands from whistles I'm sure they were a little confused :p
the dog just randomly barked.what dog barks in the kill
Hell yea mate. Nice video once again. The explanation and work behind your videos never ceases to astonish me. Well done.
It's always great to see a new video from you and this one doesn't disappoint. Some terrific information there.
great video mate. I got a nice surprise to see that you have posted. I would like to be put in the draw. thanks
what a wonderful scientific approach to evaluating whistles
While I wish you could release more content, I always enjoy what you get out, and how thorough it is. Thanks.
Great vid, it doesn't get more comprehensive than this, great help, cheers.
You dont post very often, but when you do, it is always a great video, thanks!
Im so happy you posted a new video!
Can you do a video on how you call in foxes? Things like time of day, location, use of call etc?
Excellent demonstration on all the fox whistles.
Good to finally see a review of the common whistles.
New to hunting foxes in Aus and wasn't sure which whistle to buy. This video has helped heaps! Thanks for the more scientific explanations!
I like your approach to your subject. You seem to make nearly every subject you cover interesting. The science is explained in a way most would understand. Well done. Always enjoyed your channel. Keep up the good work.. PJ..
Great video, thanks for showing all these calls together. Very informative.
Don't think I've ever seen a comparison quite like this one! Very informative. Cheers.

Many thanks for your expertise and experience with foxes.
Thank you. You have shared some great videos including this one. Best wishes from New Zealand.

Love your videos mate! Interesting, and you don't dumb it down. You're like the aussie Taofledermaus, but with better info-graphics. Keep up the good work mate.
Great video, the Tenterfield type whistles seem to be the best out of most of them.
I've been using a button whistle for many years but your right that Apex whistle does sound VERY good indeed !! I'd love to try it out at my mates property next trip, well done great vid. Seeya Rob
Super vid chief, balanced and informative. Outstanding
do you think one of those calls will work on foxy ladies?
jason bahahahahha
great comparison and presentation well done
How does hunting fox differ from coyotes? Do hare and rabbits really have different calls?
Life In The Taiga yep they sure do
Great video. Shows what they are like before buying. Thanks
i can def say the T-shirts are great..
My favorites were the bombala, silver and Best reed. They sounded the most authentic.
The pipe whistle looks very interesting. A diy guide would be great, at a guess it is pinched off in a vice and hole drilled, I would be great to find out the dimensions (hole size and placing). Thanks for the vid.
+David Chester Yeh, I can do that wouldn't take long to put together.
Hi Mate,You can get an ap that has recorded animal distress calls on it. These work extremely well
Great video, I have the Silva and I'm just trying to learn how to use it.
Excellent vid. and being an amateur radio operator DB gain is a wonder;s thing. The secret for a shooter whistling is that he doesnt become breathless, as heavy breathing effects accuracy, Enjoyed your vid immensely. Well Pete

I can't find the Bourke whistles for sale and was thinking of making one. How big is the hole?
Love the channel.
Great informative whistle thanks for making the time to make it appreciated.
I have tried a reed whistle in the past but they all sound like a sick duck .
Funny, I went all through your stuff then got a nice big video the day after. cheers for the give away, good luck everyone. can't believe you can get foxes to do that in the daytime.
+Will D Will, you managed to be comment #101

+FPSOutback I would love a whistle I'm in Vic Australia
Great work man. Thank you.

Awesome video as usual!
Really good vid mate, defs covered a lot of things ive been wanting to know on the whistles for a while!
Greatest channel! Love it.

Great information thanks. Any idea how the sound relates for crow calling with whistles?
I have the button and some reed calls but no luck so far.
Great vid, how about a vid on how to make your own fox whistle? Love your work
I've got the Best Fox Call tenterfield which bagged me my first fox. Was the Best Fox Reed hard to use? Its the first time I've heard it and now i'm considering giving it a whirl.
+Anthony Ashley No, its very easy and hands free.
Thank you for your reply. I'll have to get myself one.
