      Most electronics unless vintage at most are tested to see if they are powered on and that is about it. Anything else besides that is extra and depends from what store it is from.

    This v1 controller suffered the same fate mine did, in that I used it so much i melted off the thumbsticks from use. However the previous owner got a v2 controller and it's easily survived. The biggest problem is v2 controllers drift easily and quickly in my experience over v1's. Plus I'll hazard a guess that R2 button is missing the \o/ type spring. But its nice to see that console had a decent owner previously. just some 'well loved' controllers.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  4 года назад +4

      Yep, the PS4 was in pretty good condition. They likely weren't from the same person. Goodwill probably just put them together with this PS4 to sell the bundle together.

    Yes, lets please see the videos for the other PS4's and the Xbox One X.
    Typically the electronics finds I get from a local Thrift store end up as spare parts for fixing client machines that come into my hands for a little extra life added.
    Though I did score an ALMOST working PS3 Launch edition ($30) which I later brought back to its original glory for less than $40 more in parts. (Launch edition had a bad sensor for disc insert, as well as having to re-cap. Several ribbon cables were mangled, and one missing.

    Goodwill has become very corporate and profit-driven. They don't seem to care much about actually helping communities anymore or they would still sell these donations locally. None of the Goodwill stores here have any kind of electronics. I don't donate anything to them anymore, it all goes to the Habitat ReStore, who will happily sell broken things even, which is my kind of place.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  4 года назад +58

      I've been disappointed by that as well. That being said as a business decision it makes sense...sell the products where you can get the most money for them. It makes shopping at their physical stores a lot less fun though.

    Useful tip to quickly check ANY optical disk. I work in a pawnshop... hold the disk, inked/painted side up - glossy side down - up to the light. If you see light coming through the disk, discard it. Anyone can see blemishes on the reading surface. But pinholes & scratched up printing can be hard to tell without sticking the game into a device & reading it for an eventual failure.

    tronic, there's easy fix to the ps4 controllers drifting. Not sure how exactly was it, but you disassembly the side plastic pieces of the "cube" of the stick and clean the copper pieces. It drifts mainly because of dust, dirt & etc. Hope you see this comment and try this at some video

      Games don't worth much unless it's like a few months old. The games don't worth 30 just because you bought them for 60. A person can only play that much games and there're thousands of them out there. For me, and many others I believe, those games combined worth like 20 because they're simply outdated.

    for those of you that are upset or disappointed that goodwill stopped selling stuff like this on the floor, the main reason is that it takes forever to sell. that sounds crazy but stuff that is >$50 is pretty hard to sell to the average goodwill customer and the people who can are usually just trying to resale it. I will say though that my store and i’m sure many other stores are similar will put consoles out on the floor for a bout a week before putting it online.

    So... What exactly happened to earlier this year where a brand new PS4 Pro was only 240€ (~280$). That pushed down the prices on the use market by extreme amounts, and while the used market is still down, the retail prices seem to be back up at close to 300€ for a slim and around 400€ for a pro, while the used market is still down...
