The difference between what Amrish Puri dreams of his son Jackie Shroff and what he ends up in reality is so heartwrenching. What a damn depressing movie.
Sunny Deol in this film would make no sense at all. The whole premise of the film is that a common man, underdog, who doesn't look big or strong, takes on a big, bad, lawless goon. Its a classic David vs Goliath setup. You look at Sunny Deol and know he can beat up 10 guys at once. Jackie Shroff was perfectly cast here and underplayed his part wonderfully.
