Dave is a fucking genius and a national treasure. The Brit Awards is a mainstream prime time music awards show and Dave chose to do that song in front of an audience of millions. The part after where he stands up was written just for that show. What this doesn't show is that it earned him a five-minute standing ovation and everyone was crying their eyes out. As an older hip-hop head (since the mid-eighties) the lyrics of this song always bring a tear to my eye.

Santan Dave is amazing. You will enjoy Dave - Hangman, a song he made right when someone he knew died by stabbing (young model Harry Uzoka). But i say Dave's lyrical best verses are his features on Youngs Teflon ft Dave - Rule of Two, Giggs ft Dave - Straight Murder, And especially Avelino ft Dave - Cassius Clay (Avelino is just as incredible too!)
This was a huge deal when it happened. Everything after he stands up isn't a part of the original track. He added it specifically for this performance. It caused a lot of controversy. Jack was a young white man who worked in justice reform and prisoner rehabilitation. He was stabbed during a terrorist attack on the London Bridge. He worked with Daves brother who is in jail for murder. Dave invited Jack's parents to the show but didn't tell them about the added verse.

Just so yall know the Brits is the biggest awards show in England broadcasted live across the whole of the uk. Dave is going down with the likes of Tupac and I say that without no doubt in my mind

He made a song called question time which is a political song. It’s a few years old now and he does mainly rap about British politics, but you can still relate t what he is saying and it another deep song by him. Give it a watch if you can :)

Dave is amazing. Please react to his song 'Lesley' which I think is a really powerful story and message. I think the reason Dave is not bigger in the USA is because with songs like 'black' he challenges the status quo and the white men in offices who are lead the record industry don't see a fit for him as he is not a conventional rapper, he's a poet
I know what you mean, he reminds me as much of someone like Linton Kwesi Johnson with his lyrics as he does a rapper. Political, unafraid to take on the establishment, reminds me of the music of my youth. We need more of this!
