great video. as an almost 50 year old beginner drummer, how or what do I practice at your 4:30 is mark. when I do the bass, bass/high hat, I always hit the high hat both times. struggling to just do bass on the upbeat
Killer lesson. I just got a Tama Imperialstar kit. it is WAY too loud. So loud that my ears ring after five minutes of easy playing.. The snare is insanely loud. I can't play it with the snare wires engaged. I have watched many "tune your drums" videos but it's still WAY too loud. Am I doing something wrong?
One thing you can do if it's too loud for you is get some weather striping, take the head off and put a ring around the inside edge of the top drum head. That will muffle the sound some for you. OR you could buy some sound off pads which make it a lot quieter, but you sacrifice tone.

@@cleaver5000 happy medium is get some weather striping and put inside the bottom heads around the rim area.
Just wear some heavy earbuds, so it muffles it, let the world hear your playing \m/
